For the record, I don't trust my friends' tastes at all. I have one friend who thinks Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation are the two worst Mission: Impossible films, a sentiment I cannot relate to on any level.
My head hurts reading this post. :funny:

i prefer earlier showings as well , but if i'm going with friends it's usually later in the day.

Mark Hughes says that the 800M to break even thing is false. He says the number is around 600M. I'll take his word since he talks to WB almost daily
Talking to the company daily means you get fed spin daily as well.

As to the price tag. Not saying it cost this much, but if you were wondering how a film could become inflated, re-shoots and a big ad campaign can eat up money rather quickly.

Honestly, Suicide Squad wasnt that bad. Not great, lotta issues. But i did enjoy it somewhat. Its a 5/10. Margot and Smith were a highlight. Everyone else is underused or pointless. I have no opinion of Letoker either way. Everyone is saying he has 10-15 minutes of screentime are wrong, he has more like 5-6, if even that much. Its definitely better than MoS and BvS but definitely mediocre/average. I feel bad for Margot though, she had to suffer through a super wedgie this entire movie. :csad:

SPOILERS / criticisms / positives BELOW:

Jared Leto was wasted. He didn't suck, but he didn't have any room to grow in the film. Maybe deleted scenes or an extended cut will help, Idk. I fangasamed at the scene of Joker / Harley dancing, with Harley in the actual comics / TAS costume.

Slipknot was even more pointless in the film. Literally had about 45 seconds of screentime.

Cara Delvinfnfrujnvr whatever her name is, cannot act. She wasn't intimidating and very ehh as a presence in the film. I LOL'd at her being an "archeologist". Still better than Eisenberg though.

Editing sucked. The movie started and stopped about 5 times. WB has gotta cut it out.

Bummer. What would you rate it out of 10?

I've never been one to give movies ratings like that. Thing is my pulse was steady through pretty much whole thing, and I yawned at least 3 times. I here a laugh here and there but overall I was bored. That's pretty much one of the worse things I can say about a movie.

If the final budget was around $175 million not counting marketing, $500-600 million to break even would sound about right.

Apparently DC movies need huge box office numbers to break even. I never hear the same about Marvel films oddly enough. Wonder Woman has around the same budget as Captain America and Thor yet I'm willing to bet we'll get these insane BO numbers "in order for it to break even" that we didn't get with the Marvel films. Weird...

1.599 billion or it's a flop. WB spent 800 million on the marketing campaign and told all the companies looking for tie in money and product placement to screw themselves. Can't have Jeep Renegade commercials in the early 1900's.

:o

But is it the final budget? I have real doubt it is. Especially with the reshoots and bringing in someone else to cut the film.

It is not as if people are pulling this number out of the sky. A trade is the one that put it out there, just like Deadline did with BvS.

Just wait until Justice League.

I'm just going by what people said in this thread as to what the budget was. I have no idea what they actually spent.

So I guess I'm going to be one of those people who liked Suicide Squad. Those are my initial feelings anyway. Maybe I'll change my mind in the future.

I was expecting to hate it honestly.

Marvel have always been careful with their expenditures, to the point of being cheap.

Idk, It's what THR said this morning

ISS actually "liked" it? Sky is falling :o

It was vital in the early days. If Captain America had cost $200 million to shoot, there wouldn't have been a Captain America 2.

It is not as if people are pulling this number out of the sky. A trade is the one that put it out there, just like Deadline did with BvS.

But Deadline was wrong because they only factored in B.O.

What about Dr. Pepper, Doritos, Dodge, Jeep, money? Where do you think that money goes to? What about merchandise, posters, soundtracks, ect? Where does that money go?

DC is a giant. The films may not be critically acclaimed... but with all I just posted being taken into account do you seriously think 850 mil was all BvS raked in?

Puhleeze. Now that's what I call denial.

Just got out. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought it would.

But oh my god Leto was so bad. Really wish he wasn't even in the movie at this point. I really wanted to like him.
