Never underestimate the power of a boomerang....those things are spooky.

*snicker*

Personally, the way I would justify it is. . . okay, by and large, the Suicide Squad is not composed of people who can stand a chance against a Superman-level threat. This is intentional, and known. Their job isn't saving the day. Their job is *reconnaissance*: when something weird and beyond human is happening, they get sent in to check it out. So why have guys like Slipknot and Captain Boomerang?

Because they are the canaries in the coal mine, and the canary's job is to die. The team pokes its head in, sees what crazy stuff is happening, and if a few members die? Meh, there's more people in the prisons. Then, once Task Force X/ARGUS/whatever knows what is happening, they come up with an actual response.

What makes Captain Boomerang ( and a few others ) special, and Slipknot not so much? Its not that he's super mega awesome. Its that he's gone on suicide missions, and somehow managed not to die. *That* forms the core of the Suicide Squad: people who should be dead already, but through skill and luck and ruthless determination and sheer stubbornness, manage to still be alive and even complete some missions.

Then, advance to the sequel or the post script, and you have two tiers of Squad: the veterans, who have grown together somewhat, as a terrible family of horrible people, and get sent to do the actual "achieve stuff" missions; and the fresh fish, the new "recruits", who get openly treated like the expendable red shirts they are, until they manage to not-die themselves.

The Enchantress was part of the files on Task Force X and it has never been established if kryptonians are invulnerable to magic but there really isn't a reason to think that they are.

Normally, I'd disagree ( absence of disproof is not proof ), but BvS did contain evidence that at least suggests a magic vulnerability: Doomsday being *far* more susceptible to slicing from a magic sword than basically any other damage besides the Kryptonite spear. Now whether Enchantress could put out enough oomph to take advantage of the weakness ( I seriously doubt its "all defenses to zero" ) is open for debate.

On the other hand, there's no evidence to suggest Superman would have any unusual defense to having his mind, soul, or atoms magically screwed with, so. . .

That scene (and the song in it) was one of the best parts of the movie for me.

Also, can someone explain what these chemicals actually do (in the movie world, of course)? Basically, Harley [BLACKOUT]jumping into them[/BLACKOUT] is the final step of losing her sanity (assuming the first step was the Joker electrocuting her). But what did those chemicals actually do to her? In the scene, we see that they disolve Joker and Halrey's clothes, but don't burn their skin. So what exactly did they do to her and her mental state to make her go crazy?

oh I hated the song but at least some cool footage is online thanks to this vid :)

Yeah I didn't like the fact that they used a song for that scene.

Read the sample from the SS Novelization, and holy CRAP is it already WAY better than the movie.

We get an ACTUAL introduction to June, and the Enchantress, AND a FAR better introduction to Harley, and Joker. God dammit, what the hell were WB thinking?

Matter of fact, while Price's score certainly isn't one of the most original and interesting film scores, his "Harley and Joker" music piece would work perfectly for the scene. So well, that I think it was actually recorded for this scene and someone decided they should to go for... whatever that is.

What makes me more sure of this is the fact that I don't recall hearing "Harley and Joker" piece in the film at all.

They definitely cut a lot of his score in the first act, where they later placed all of those songs.

Wasn't that playing when they were dancing and she was in jester outfit? But yeah they should have used that score in the chemical bath scene that song they used is so damn jarring

Pacing. They also didn't want to offend extreme feminists by making Joker an abusive boyfriend although that's what he is supposed to be!

The almighty $ > creative integrity

Definitely. I think there's about 80 minutes of that score on official disc and first half of the film is all random songs.

I think you might be right.

Many of those songs were quite jarring, but this one takes the cake.

The music was just so forced. When the trailers were, at first, making use of these songs, it worked. While it reminded many of GotG, it wasn't just parroting them with it.

In the movie, the music is a PAINFULLY obvious attempt to ape GotG. Then, on top of that, they go and use one of the EXACT SAME SONGS as GotG. Seriously, WTF?
It's like they aren't even ****ing TRYING.

Meh, only one song is shared between the films and it was featured a couple of seconds.

It's a good song, that's why they used it. Should we say they're stealing from Wayne's World because they used Bohemian Rhapsody?

My point was that it was already obvious they were trying to copy GotG, on top of that, to then go and use one of the exact same songs, that's either really stupid, really lazy, or really sad. It's just shows either a complete lack of integrity, or a complete lack of competency.

It's just adding insult to injury at that point, is what I'm saying. Or perhaps more appropriately, adding idiocy to stupidity.
