They are giving it to Ayer? I'd not be shocked now if people at WB thought Ayer did a great job and a great movie with Suicide Squad :/

Ayer not writing the script helps immensely. I hope Margot has more input in her costume this go-round, she was way too sexualized in SS.

I also think Ayer has some stipulations in his contract for this film, otherwise, why go through another round of post-production BS the studio put him through?

He gets to work with Margot Robbie again. That's enough motivation for any man.

I never really understood the big pop culture appeal of Harley, tbh. Like, Kevin Smith liked her so much, he named his daughter after her, first and middle name? Kinda strange. Yeah, she's a little kooky and has an unhealthy relationship with Joker and calls him Mista J, but I feel like there are other female anti heroes or villainesses who are much more interesting and layered, Catwoman and Poison Ivy, to name a few. And it doesn't make much sense to me why someone like Waller, putting together an elite team, would feel like HQ was a good addition. Then again, I've never read any of her stories, outside of when she appears in Batman books.

Having said that, I think Margot Robbie did a fine job with the role, and was definitely nice to look at.

How so? This was pitched by Margot Robbie 8 months ago.

I don't believe that for a second. Harley was incredibly popular before Margot played the part and WB would have had their eye on a spin-off early on.

Good for her in getting a producer credit, but this is a WB's agenda.

"Sources say that Robbie was the impetus for the project, adding that when she got the part for the movie, she dove deep into the comics to learn as much as possible about the character. In the process, she fell for DC’s female characters. She brought on the writer to help develop the project and brought it to Warners, which snapped it up." - Hollywood Reporter May 16, 2016

Believe it... Don't believe it. Either way the movie has been in the works for a while its not a spur of the moment thing.

The Deadshot move in particular reeks of throwing whatever at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Those slots could be filled with, more important movies. Whats next? Slipknot?

I actually thought Deadshot was the standout start of SS. I would definitely watch a Deadshot movie. And I think it's a safe bet I'm not alone. I think this Sirens film and Deadshot spinoff were pretty obvious.

Oh no doubt that Deadshot and Harley were both great in Suicide Squad but I don't think thats the point.

Where is my Lantern movie universe? My Teen Titans? My Man of Steel 2? Justice League Dark? Shazam? all of these movies would add a lot more to the DCEU I think than "Hey these guys were popular in Suicide Squad so lets make movies about them" movies.

Makes it look like there's no plan and if the **** (Harley/Deadshot) sticks then they'll make movies about them.

Agreed. With every viewing, I like Smith's Deadshot that much more. I think his character was unequivocally the only one of the Squad to hit all the right beats.

It reeks more of "star power".

Will Smith really seemed to enjoy the character.

Agreed, I would watch a Deadshot movie also. He has had solo arcs in the comics, and is now more well known than ever. Give the movie a Deadpool budget and plenty of freedom, could be something great.

Plus, Deadshot is actually a viable enough character that making a movie about him makes sense. I do still agree that WB is throwing **** at the wall to see what sticks but this move could be a good one.

And the only way Slipknot could get a movie were if he were ahead of the game. :cwink:

Okay, that was horrible. I know.

A funny line that only worked because of Will Smith.

So who would we want in Deadshot movie? I don't think it would be a solo film. Maybe a prequel showing him, Croc, etc working in Gotham for the Falcone family?

Slipknot...gone, but not forgotten.

Personally, I didn't find anything overly wrong with the line or its delivery.

I'd make it be a buddy cop style movie with Flagg and Deadshot going on a SS mission together where Deadshot has been tasked with assassinating someone on behalf of the government, then you include other master assassins like Deathstroke among others and you've got a movie.

Starts off with Slipknot shooting off on his little grappling gun, then getting his head popped, then it's just a 2 hour shot of him hanging there, ever so slowly zooming in on his face, and you can hear explosions in the background every once in a while, then at the end somebody cuts him down but you can't see who because at this point the frame is just focused on his his eyeball, he drops, end of movie, hailed by critics as a brilliant work of art

I put this idea in another thread, but maybe have Deadshot tasked with hunting down Deathstroke for Waller but it turns into a grudge match to prove who the world's best assassin is.

I hope not. Deathstroke should be used as a TT/Nightwing/Green Arrow villain IMO. He has suffered from becoming an all-access villain/character and being moved around too much over the years. He needs to be put with characters he has good history with and has worked well with before IMO.

Deathstroke is far too above Deadshot for me to ever buy this. Deadshot would be dead in no time, flat...unless they were to dumb down Deathstroke substantially, which they would have to do to try to sell something like this.

I second the sentiment that Deathstroke is better utilized as a main nemesis for the Teen Titans, primarily Grayson.
