Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

Was there any doubt about MB winning the Teen Choice awards again? I felt her fight with Reign sealed it!

Too bad she probably won't cross over to the cinema version of Supergirl.
I feel I have to get used to a whole new actress playing Kara when it comes to the cinema. Rather have MOS2 with an introduction to Supergirl.

I do like the actor that played Superman in the Supergirl series allot, he is actually really good.

If you watch the Flash TV show did you have trouble with a different Flash in the Justice League move. Melissa’s portrayal is iconic but I’m fine telling myself it’s two different universes.

She could play her movie version's mother.
Melissa’s not quite 30 so unless they age her she’s not old to play movie Kara’s Mom. Not to mention that could be potentially very confusing for especially international audiences who don’t have access to all the details of TV verses Movies. I guess a small camio would be ok but think about this.

For the Wonder Woman movie both Lynda Carter and Patty Jenkins agreed that as much as they would’ve loved for Lynda to do a camio it would’ve been a distraction. They thought it was better to let the movie stand on it’s own without drawing on the nostalgia from the TV show. The legacy casting is much better suited to the TV shows. Now for the currently filming Wonder Woman 1984 rumors has it that now that Diana is fully established in the movie universe they may revisit that stance for a small (think how Stan Lee pops up in Marvel movies) camio. Bottom line for me with the way DC has established things is it’s not appropriate for anyone from the current TV shows to be in the Movies.

Would love to see them use The Elite in Supergirl. Anybody remember James Marsters as Spike in Buffy, reckon he would be perfect for Manchester Black.

Manchester Black is already in this upcoming season and is being played by David Ajala.

One of my very favourite DC animated movies (hence my sig!). I could see Marsters as Manchester Black provided he can pull off that Mancunian twang.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is my LAST post here at this forum. Recent events regarding this TV show and the events of today and how I believe we as a nation are getting close to a major clash similar to the Civil War, I have posted a link to a page at my blog Bob's Box to which I have posted what I am calling...A Break-Up letter. It's a rant, the biggest I have ever done.

But this show's leftist politics and wanting to go topical on a Sunday when some people would be tired of the Sunday talk shows like Meet the (DE)Press(ED), This WEAK, DEFace The Nation and Fox SNOOZE Sunday, is the last straw.

Simply put, in the words of the late Roy Orbison...It's Over.

Well, I got turned off by the show's (leftist leaning) politics a while back, too. Don't know how much it continued in Season 3, but based on some new characters who will be introduced in Season 4, it seems it will still be part of the show.

and frankly, I just think politics should be left out of these fantasy superhero shows. These shows should provide an escape from reality, not mirror and rehash it. If you want to tackle topical issues, do so in a subtle way that doesn't make it seem like you are advocating one side or the other. iow, just don't make it so blatant and obvious.

with that being said, the biggest turn off in the show isn't the politics, but the characters and stories themselves. I just found myself less and less interested in Kara, her supporting cast, and the storylines they put them in.

which is a shame cuz I'm a huge Super family fan and was especially looking forward to this show. I guess that's why I'm excited for a Supergirl film and the chance to offer a completely different take on the character.

With the new showrunners this season... seems silly not to give the show another chance IMHO

Bye, enjoy your gay frogs...

If you don't enjoy politics in yours shows, stay away from Black Lightning.

have the new showrunners commented on how the new season will be different, direction wise?

I don't know TBH. i don't think anything's been said either way

Adler & Kreisberg (co-creators) dropped out, which only leaves Berlanti who's got his hands full,
so I might actually tune in just to see how these new guys take charge.

I feel the same. I can turn on the news for that stuff. I come to comics (inc the TV shows and movies) to get away from the real world. I just want to kick back and read/watch enjoyable escapism.

ah, I see.

well, I still need to watch Season 3 when it comes out on DVD. I was going through some tough personal/family issues while S3 was airing, so that also contributed to my lack of interest, I think.

If I find myself still interested after S3, then maybe I'll give S4 a chance.

I mean, you can already see that the new season is going to get VERY political.

^ hence, my worries and lack of interest.

I think, random terrible gun control episode (from a departing writer) aside, S3 was their least "political" of the 3 seasons. Which is another reason it's my fave so far. But yeah, S4 is definitely making me nervous in that regard. Though there are certainly other elements I'm looking forward to.

what happened to Kara's cranky reporter boss?? is he still part of the show?

and is Jimmy still Guardian?

also, what the hell happened to Maxwell Lord??

Snapper's gone (I think "took a sabbatical" was the reasoning on the show). James runs CatCo's editorial side now.

Jimmy is still Guardian, though they scaled Guardian's appearances back A LOT in S3.

Maxwell Lord is somewhere back in CBS-land with General Lane, playing with the Omegahedron.
