Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

I am sorry that Robert has left the forum, but if I stopped watching shows because of their political viewpoints then. I would never watch any TV at all.

I loved "Last Man Standing", "Touched By An Angel", "All In The Family" etc.....They all had agendas behind the writing, so? I applaud them all for believing in "something" and standing strong behind it.....

As long as the overall arc is furthered by each episode, then cool.

I actually wrote to the writers for the first time with a loud complaint....and it was on their gun control episode of last season (and I'm a HUGE Gun Control....throw out the gun lobby) social justice, progressive Democrat. BUT, it did not further the overall arc and it was simply a going away gift to a strong, loud Gun Control writer on her last episode of writing for Supergirl. I felt that they could have given her a nice gift and sent her on her way that did not involve wasting 3/4ths of an episode on her pet project.

So, for me it has nothing to do with my beliefs.....it has far more to do with the overall arc of the series and is it being furthered, and is Supergirl front and center in the arc, and sub plots. If they take care of those things, who cares what side of the see saw the series wants to portray....as long as it furthers the story.

Too bad some may leave because of this, but hey it happens. Political emotions worn on the sleeve have just as much chance as "shipper" emotions being butt hurt....*shrugs shoulders* I enjoy the show, and in the end that is all that matters to me.

I know, I'm selfish....lol

Sadly, it only becomes a 'problem' to some when it's against what they believe and they are so invested in it that they take it personally.

I’d say that Black Lightning is even more political and more liberal than Supergirl. And doubtless, this decision has cost both shows in terms viewership and ratings. The difference, of course, is that BL is much better written. If you’re going to stand on principle, at least do it with skill. :word:

Titles for episodes 4x05, 4x06 and 4x07:

Supergirl - Episode 4.05 - Parallax
Supergirl - Episode 4.06 - Call to Action
Supergirl - Episode 4.07 - Rather the Fallen Angel
Source.

I won't be getting my hopes up, but 4x05's title is VERY intriguing.

Boy, episode 5 is going to bring out the fanboy theories.

Is it just me or is everybody just seeing the url for You Tube videos? It's not just this video that doesn't show up but it seems like all I'm seeing in any thread is just the yt url. Am I missing some kind of setting or is this a issue with the forum.

The old links from before the changeover don't work because now on this new system we just copy/paste full YT links directly into posts, no coding involved.

Speaking of which… I’ve noticed that in some of my older posts (and one is just above) my apostrophes are missing! And since I’m a grammar nazi :o (it’s vs. its, your vs. you’re etc.), it’s quite painful to see all “my” mistakes preserved for posterity.

:argh:

Thanks for the info.
No problem. :)

They're casting a new mystery Kryptonian for the crossover:
Male, 40s (with the potential to play older than their actual age), open ethnicity. A mysterious visitor who is from another planet and is both ambiguous, inscrutable and has the power that is teased as nearly infinite. Potential to appear for post-crossover episodes of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl as well as Legends of Tomorrow, some as just a small cameo.
Source.

They're calling him "Lon-El" in the casting sides, but that obviously won't be his real name. Male Kryptonian roughly in the age range of Kara and Kal's parents but open ethnicity. I'm thinking maybe Jax-Ur?

Also, this is even further evidence of the crossover being set on Earth-38, so yay. :D

If this Kryptonian's power is near-infinite, I'm thinking H' El.

If this is on Earth-38, then I can see Superman or Supergirl leading the group.

Oooh, I hadn't thought of H'el. I didn't care for that storyline in the comics, but the basic concepts (H'el trying to appeal to Kara's Kryptonian side and driving a wedge between her and Clark) could make for some juicy drama.

I loved the H'el story line! Would be hard to carry out here though, seeing as this Kara has half the anger/angst issues that New 52 Kara did! H'el used that to his advantage quite effectively. Still, I would be up for it, if this was going to be H'el.

Jax-Ur seems intriguing too. 'Infinite' power though seams more like a H'el thing.

Curious about that second Kara we met at the end of Season 3? Be patient, because she’s “going to be threaded in as a mystery that doesn’t come to fruition until later this season,” according to EPs Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. In the immediate future, Kara will deal with threats from Mercy Graces (played by Rhona Mitra, The Last Ship), whose complicated history with the Luthors triggers an objective that “quickly puts her in conflict with Supergirl.” There’s also Agent Liberty (Sam Witwer, Being Human), whose goal is to “foster division and turn America against the aliens that have emigrated.” The premiere also introduces Nia Nal (newcomer Nicole Maines), a reporter at CatCo who is revealed to be Dreamer, TV’s first transgender superhero. Taken under Supergirl’s wing, “Nia’s journey will be reminiscent of Kara’s in Season 1 as she figures out how to use her powers and become a fully realized hero.” Meanwhile, Brainy will form a surprising bond with Alex, who has difficulty “trying to date” while running the DEO; and Lena and James’ relationship will “play out in a real way” as they get even closer.

BONUS SPOILER!: Jeremy Jordan may be Broadway bound, but Winn will return: “His arrival will come once he’s done with the play.”

RETURN DATE: Sunday, Oct. 14 at 8/7c (The CW)

Ur opinion of course. I lost interest in BL pretty quickly.

I like how that sounds...

If H'el is the villain for the crossover, I can see his storyline with Supergirl being a central part of it along with Batwoman's introduction.

That wouldnt be bad but would've made a lot more sense at the beginning of S3 when Kara wasnt interested in being human.

There are any number of reasons why Black Lightning wouldn’t be to all tastes. But I don’t think there’s much doubt that it’s way better written* than the other DC/CW shows.

* At least so far. For this type of genre, the freshman season has the advantage of novelty, world building and the drama of origins. And BL also benefited from a concentrated, 13-episode arc - with virtually no fillers. We’ll see how it fares if/when it gets into a 3rd or 4th season.

If it's H'el then I would hope for more than a three night crossover. That story line would deserve a season, both the build it up and then to tear it down. No rushing.

Yeah, H'el would seem like kind of a weird choice for the crossover, imo. But maybe it is him and he'll be sticking around on Supergirl afterwards, who knows.
