The Wrestling Thread has much larger nipples

Austin Theory is damaged goods at this point. He proved John Cena was correct about him in his burial promo.

The problem with WWE PLEs right now, is they spam with you with ads, and there's not enough action and chances are multiple matches go too long.

Austin Theory does fit Seth and Heyman's group. They really just need to lean into The Vision being a modern day Four Horsemen.

Agreed, it's a huge leap if it happens, given where he was at when last seen, but a great Heyman promo and some wins can reverse things, and he's only 28.

This is a quality card (could have used 1 more match) let's hope it delivers, I'll check it out tonight!

They gave Theory a sustained push and a win over John Cena at WrestleMania, and he still couldn't get over. He doesn't have the it-factor. He's basically Billy Gunn winning King of the Ring circa 1999.

Don't do that Vile.

More like once Trips became head booker, he buried the man and killed his momentum.

Literally the last time Theory was on Raw he had the whole arena chanting for him while he was at ringside.

And as head booker, he booked him to beat John Cena at WrestleMania and then a newly minted Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio the next night on Raw. Also had him win the tag titles in a Ladder Match at WrestleMania the following year. So...*shrugs*

He's a good hand at best.

And when the Netflix era happened, he sidelined him and kept him off TV repeatedly.

Doing to him the same thing he did to Carmelo until he had to do something because we the fans demanded and trended and got Melo on screen.

You know Trips is never beating those allegations.

Theory has the final Vince guy stench on him or at least he did. I don't buy that rumor above. I think he returns as a face.

Btw Cena and AJ was great. So much nostalgia for the long term fans. Had me smiling the whole way through

;)

I haven't watched a frame of wrestling since the ESPN switch

So much potential from the NXT and ID/ Evolve releases. I hope they land in TNA.

Wes Lee deserved better than what he got, so this was good for him. He had been making appearances in Evolve, which was a step down for him as it was for Gallus.

He wasn't ready to be a Money in the Bank winner and giving the briefcase was wasted on him. That was a Vince creative decision.

Crown Jewel was a solid show with 2 excellent matches.

Huge win for Bronson Reed but I preferred the match in Paris, this lacked intensity given he sent Roman to hospital a month ago, and it descended into one of those tiresome Bloodline matches with lots of interference and then a dragged out aftermath that the kids call "cinema". I do like the development of Jey though, and his evolving dynamic with Roman.

I saw some complain that Stephanie vs Tiffy was too short at 10 minutes, but I thought it was a good match and shorter is better for Tiffany right now. Stephanie winning was absolutely the right call.

I know most loved Cena vs AJ, personally I didn't, it was the same match Cena had with Logan Paul, just executed better. Essentially just the 2 of them cycling through a load of finishers that played off their various rivals over the years, devaluing most of those moves and basically not coming off as a contest, more of an exhibition.

Rhiyo vs the Kabuki Warriors stole the show as expected, it eschewed the usual tag match structure with a number of heat spots as the Kabuki Warriors cut off numerous hot tag comebacks before the faces won. Kairi sacrificing herself to save Asuka plays well into that dynamic, and the exchanges between Iyo and Asuka were fantastic. Raw is in MSG in a few weeks, they need to book Iyo vs Asuka for there and give them 20+ minutes.

Seth and Cody brought it in the main event, it felt like a big deal, and the story of Seth's crisis of confidence was unusual for a heel, but well executed. I wouldn't have thrown that Crossroads from the top away on a 2 count, but I loved the actual finish, it was the strongest way Seth could have gone over as a heel, a resourceful bit of skullduggery leading to the win.

Been a while since there's been much discussion in here, so I thought I'd start off a topic that is present.

Triple H and the "charges" debate. I think first that needs context, as I'd say the charges are that he's biased against black male wrestlers? As he's pushed Bianca, Naomi and Jade, the latter hasn't become champion yet because she's still not really ready, but she's been protected all the way. Obviously we've got Samoan guys all over the main event scene, and the Japanese ladies are booked pretty well, while the current women's World Champion is Latina.

Now I know a lot of this stems from how he disbanded the Hurt Syndicate, at least as far as booking goes. I wasn't around for the group, but the reason MVP gives, that he disbanded the group because it was too similar to the Bloodline is a red flag, I mean The Shield vs The Wyatts, anyone? Surely the Bloodline vs The Hurt Syndicate was money left on the table? And they also kept the Judgment Day around. I know some would argue the Street Profits but I'd say the bigger issue is the general malaise when it comes to tag team wrestling these days, fans just don't care as they've been conditioned to see a tag team as merely a stepping stone for the next singles guy to push.

That brings me to Carmelo Hayes, the most recent of the charges. Off tops I think he's been mishandled, in NXT Shawn basically took his blueprint with Diesel and applied it to Melo, it's a tried and tested formula to put a supremely athletic and cocky smaller heel with a heater, and there's no shortage of big guys floating around developmental that could have filled the bodyguard role. Instead they took a guy who is undersized and put him in a bunch of matches, most of which he lost, and then got some traction with Miz and split them before getting any real momentum, like a tag title win, because as I mentioned tag wrestling is just a means to the next singles push. So he's a face now, easy enough against the Miz, as Miz as a face is about as palatable as a glass of ass sweat, but is it the best for Melo long term? Right now I think he's much more suited to being a heel. To keep this even I think you have to acknowledge that Melo is small, even against Sami he looked smaller, that's still a factor in WWE to an extent.

I've probably written too much, so I'll close with this, the biggest test is about to come. Oba Femi should be on the main roster soon, he's big and has huge ring presence, you have to smash a guy like that over, like Goldberg, the Road Warriors, Brock etc....Trips own booking blueprint for Gunther provides the obvious road map, he should debut beating Sami for the US title in the open challenge, it's a lay-up to get him off to a strong start.
