Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

For a new Superman TV series, you'd have to include his son Jon Kent.

Since they (Lois and Clark) are not even married yet, I would assume a child would be further off than a new series. Unless, it was a son from a 'neighboring' universe...

As long as she gets a good showing, I'll be happy. I'll have to be...:(

And a new Superman series would be great, though as has been pointed out before, it's clear Superman has already had a long career in tackling his familiar Rogues Gallery. He's a seasoned super hero by this point. I would fear that what they would have him being up against would be like a retread. Though I'm sure there is a lot newer source material now with the Rebirth comics.

It wouldn’t be a retread as we haven’t seen it before though.

For a new Superman TV series, you'd have to include his son Jon Kent.

You don’t have to but that could he an interesting dynamic.

So...I think in this first part of Elseworlds, Clark was about to ask Kara to officiate a Kryptonian marriage ritual for him and Lois. And if I'm right, that means there's a good chance we'll see them again this season. Unless they squeeze that into the end of Elseworlds, I suppose, but that seems like something they wouldn't have time for in a crossover like this, since those two are still basically strangers to Barry and Ollie and it has nothing to do with the main plot. Seems like something they'd save for Supergirl.

Wasn't there a crossover thread in the last seasons? We are not having it this time?

I meant one for all of the episodes, not just the Supergirl one.

Well, we have this promo pic from the crossover...

Could Lois's white gown be a wedding dress? Otherwise, it's somewhat odd attire for the arctic. :word:

That could be ceremony set in the Fortress, but where's her ring..? Do Kryptonian's use wedding rings? But then growing up in Earth, I think Clark would go in for rings.

How about for next years Crossover we have the heroes come to Earth 38 to help Kara put together a team all Panic in the Sky to take on Brainiac ;)

Oh damn, you’re right lol.

I think between you three you've nailed it

Kryptonians use bracelets, I believe. And her wrist is hidden...:shr:

A nitpick re: "Elseworlds Part 2"

It bugged me when Kara mentioned to Kate that her cousin was friends ( “frenemies”) with Bruce Wayne. Yes, at this point, it would appear there are two versions of Batman/Bruce Wayne. But, obviously, the one Kara refers to is from Earth 38, not Earth 1. Yet, this isn't clarified to the audience.

Moreover, Kara’s reference to Clark and Bruce was totally unnecessary. It wasn’t required exposition; and it didn’t really add anything to the “World’s Finest” bond between SG and BW. Even without the reference, the internal logic of multiple Earths with two “Batmen” is a bit of a mess. But no need to call attention to the mess.:oldrazz:

Kara is a friendly sort of person and finding that they both have more popular family is something to talk about and yes, bond over. It's also a super hero show, and to not touch on the relationship between two iconic characters would be weird in itself. Plus, she may have been using that as a kind of reporter technique to create a sense of camaraderie with someone she needed information from.

If she had come right out and asked, 'Do you know a John Deegan?'
Kane may have responded obliquely, with 'why do you want to know?' rather than, 'yes, he's a Doctor at Arkum.'

Kara did what she does best, and that's make friends!:D

As you say… the reference to Clark knowing Bruce works, structurally, as breaking-the-ice small talk between Kara and Kate. Or it would have if Gotham were located on Earth 38. :cmad: I just found Kara’s statement to be so distracting - in terms of the crossover’s own internal logic - that it undercut the scene. And why go there at all? Just pick another small talk topic. :cwink:

But Gotham City is located on Earth-38. Just not this version with Ruby Rose's Batwoman.

I would assume she mentioned it because they have people in common. Her cousin is frenemies with a version of Kane's cousin, but still in a way Kane's cousin. (Now I wonder if there is a Kate Kane on 38...) And she was trying to be friendly and having a 'somewhat' family connection helps.

Kara needs to be more respectful of where she is looking with her X-ray vision, though...

I have to wonder if the Supergirl writers have watched the Flash or Arrow because there was inconsistency on certain things in Part 3 of Elseworlds.

She might be able to dial is up or down somewhat. Like Superman the Movie, Clark looked just far enough to see that Lois was wearing pink. Only a dirty mind would think that Kara looked all the way.:o:D

You have to wonder why Supergirl was looking at Kate Kane's body in the first place though just for the sake of seeing how many tattoos she had. If some women have tattoos in more intimate places, then that would mean Kara would have to scan past her undies otherwise she would've missed a few.

She should tell the President that if he wants to know her secret identity, he is welcome to have his agents scan past her mask.... oh wait, she doesn't wear one! :o

Stills seems silly she couldn't have thought to tell him she doesn't have one, so he's asking a non question.

With Superman, it's been the opposite, hasn't it? Clark Kent is the alter ego and Superman is who he is. I imagine Kara is the same way, Kara Danvers would be her 'mask.' But they've muddied that up a bit in the series haven't they?
