Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

They've had great casting so far with Superman and Lois. This is the first casting I haven't been enthusiastic about.

Even someone in the mould of John Shea would've been good.

I hope he will surprise us and be a serious take on Lex who isn't camp or a weasel.

:funny:

I’m just trying to be the voice of reason

Well just from his appearance alone, he definitely does not give me the impression of a guy who would take Superman several years to beat.

Nevertheless, whatever style he ends up incorporating in his performance, as long as the show does not end up making him into the new big bad for Kara to defeat only, then I will be fine with it. I do not need to show to give yet another thing to snub at Superman by having Kara positioned to beat him so easily on her own, let alone for him to be converted into a supergirl only villain.

I mean, even though it was on a different Earth, I wonder if maybe Zane wasn't picked because he was already used in the Arrowverse in some capacity on Legends of Tomorrow. Again, different Earth and in the past, so wouldn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but just me speculating.

It wouldn't have mattered. It was such a small part in Legends, and as you say, it was on another earth and in the past. And actors can play different parts in this multi-verse. We've seen even in real life how some people look very similar to figures in history.

Zane would've been amazing casting and I doubt anyone would've objected to him as Lex. We would certainly know what we were in for as well instead of having to hope that someone like Cryer can pull it off and not be too camp or weasley or weak.

I hope Jon Cryer's Lex Luthor will be like the one from Young Justice.

Kara being captured in a Star Labs and interacting with an alternate version of Alex looks to be in the Arrow part of the crossover.

Alex is wearing House of El coat of arms in that preview. Interesting.

Speculation on the one pic of Grant and Amell wearing the same biker outfit. Some real minor villains.

Notice that Kara is wearing black. I wonder if that was why she wore black in one of the BTS pics where they were dealing with Black Suit Superman over the ancient book.

I also just read on how the producers confirmed that Batman DOES indeed exist on Earth 1 and that he has been missing for 3 years, hence why Batwoman had to step up to the plate to fill the void left in his absense. He wad apparently considered to be an urban myth that even Oliver did not believe about.

*sigh* The route that makes the least amount of sense with what they've established. I'm not even a little surprised.

I am assuming that "what has been established" can be a little off, due to everything going on. Sort of like Flashpoint could have been used.

Flashpoint COULD have been used for such a thing, but it wasn't. I suspect the same will be true here. They're going to go to Gotham because that's where Dr. Destiny started all the madness, and they're gonna pretend like Batman's been a thing there the whole time ("just an urban legend!"), even when things go "back to normal." The Elseworld shenanigans will have nothing to do with his sudden existence. I'd bet money on this, lol. The stupidest part being, he HAS been a thing the whole time on Earth-38, that has been established, and it wouldn't feel like any kind of retcon for Batwoman to be there. But alas.

Batman being absent for three years could be on a different Earth, but if the producers said it’s on Earth-1 then that is being lazy there as he also exists on Earth-38.
