Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

Season four has wrapped. Melissa posted a goofy picture on Instagram saying "season four done" and if she's done everyone's done.

It's reported that Jay Faerber has joined the CW Supergirl writing team. He wrote the Titans and Marvel's New Warriors among other things. I hope he can make next season a good one.

Yeah, this season has been a mixed bag. Last season was too, but overall I've liked it better so far.

Does he have a comics background?...

Does he have a comics background?...
Yep. I've never read his work, but he's written for Superman, Superboy, Green Lantern, Titans and Young Justice (the comics, not the shows). This season's been my fave thus far, but I'm always happy to get more comics blood on the writing staff.

Yay, I think having someone on their with a comicbook background will hopefully make a difference. Although Sterling Hates would be my dream choice. These last few episodes have been right up their with some of my favs, but as a whole the season ranks with Season 3 ... half a season of dissappointment...lol. Although lastyear I got 10 epusodes of happy.....this year hopefully 7....lol

What kind of a name is Sterling Hates? He sounds like a Hater lol.

Last season would've been my fave if they hadn't dropped the ball so spectacularly in the last quarter. At this point last year, they had already begun to do that in my eyes with all the forced and OOC Lena/Supergirl drama over the Kryptonite, so I'm feeling good about this season in comparison. As long as they don't commit such a massive blunder as the complete waste of New Krypton/Argo City this year, it could very well end up being the first season I enjoy all the way through (with a few random episode exceptions)...fingers crossed, lol.

I think S1 will forever be my least-fave, with less than 5 episodes I'd even deem remotely enjoyable, and the rest I found damn near unwatchable. Everything else has felt like a step up since that horrid debut season for me. S2 was scattershot and uneven as hell but it gave us Superman, Lena, and a hella fun finale, S3 was more streamlined and gave us our first decent villain storyline (though like i said, totally dropped the ball in the last quarter), and S4 SO FAR has been the most focused, had tighter character (and dare I say plot) writing, brought back Supes (however briefly), gave us a Winn upgrade in Brainy, and gave us a GREAT Luthor storyline + Melissa as Red Daughter. I just REALLY hope they stick the landing better than last season. In all seasons there has been one constant, though: EVERY season, the James storylines are the weakest. It's maddening that they can't see this and refuse to just write him off the show. They seem to be aware of their other flaws and work to correct them with each season (something they're better at than the other Arrowverse shows, imo), but for some reason, James is a constant blind spot for them. Oh well, maybe next season...:o

Haha.....GATES. The lack of action from Supergirl in the 1st half killed the enjoyment for me....just seemed like it was Alex as Supergirl, not Kara.....they have had no season where Supergirl didnt end up needing help every damn episode...until that is fixed, there will not be a fav season for me.

He did have a pretty good run on Titans. honestly, it seems that Supergirl tends to get the short end of the stick, because most of the comic guys want to be on Flash. but they are going to need a lot of help to pull off Crisis.

I agree that if they want Crisis to work on TV across the arrowverse, they need some comics writers on all shows to help them pull it off.

I read somewhere that Katie Mcgrath is going to star in an Australian show. Does that mean in the beginning of S5, she will have a reduced appearance? Like Melissa this season?

I doubt it. It's a 6-episode mini-series that's already started filming. She'll probably be done by the time they start S5.

Okay, thanks.

Good for the people behind the scenes that they allow the cast to be flexible. I hope it is available for the crew as well.

Melissa did the 6 part "Waco" and was back shooting on schedule, I'm sure Katie can do the same.

If you read the canadagraphs for Supergirl it reveals spoiler blogs for Supergirl’s season finale as it now reveals why Monitor is there.

I have Canadagraphs blocked they are morons.

Canadagraphs posts spoilers blogs and bts pics.

Monitor has appeared in Arrow’s season finale. I’m betting he will appear in all season finales.

Ok I'm curious. what is the deal with Canadagraphs? t
The guy that posts on that feed gets pissed off when celebs don't stop at the airport and sign his 50 pics so he can sell them....then he goes on Twitter and badmouths them.

Any comments about this news about Supergirl season 4 on SHH's main page ?

So it seems Supergirl is moving to 9pm on Sundays. Batwoman takes 8pm.

The CW Fall 2019-20 Schedule: – Deadline

Why would they do it that way round? It seems that Batwoman would benefit more from a 9pm slot so it could be past the watershed and potentially be more violent and adult. Are they going to make Supergirl more adult instead?
