Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - Part 7

I far preferred JAG to NCIS, which seems to have taken over CBS and given it a rather dull and somewhat staid feel.

Wonder Woman also went from ABC to CBS in the 70s, but there was a change in direction, going from a WWII setting to modern day.

I don't know if Supergirl might be more edgy now that it's no longer on CBS. I just hope they use the same theme music on its new channel and not that we find lots have changed.

There is no reason why they would change this...

Bottom line is this....we have 2nd season, it is what was hoped for, and that came to pass.

It is on the network that it probably should have been on from the start, though I am grateful for CBS launching Supergirl, I am extremely happy that it is moving to the CW where I think it will find its true audience and do well.

A show doesn't have to be a failure in order for it to not fit with how the head of the channel feels like what the channel should be about. I mean, the only reason why we still have Supernatural despite the one head of the CW wanting to go hard core for the teen drama, was because it was just too successful to cancel.

Sometimes a show can do well, but still not be a good fit.

Back in the late 60's/early 70's....CBS cancelled all of their "country/rural" shows because the wife of the man in charge didn't want "her" network to be thought of as hicks. Several of the cancelled shows were in the weekly top 10, the rest in the top 20.

Well, whatever CBS' reasoning was, that is done....and I'm looking forward to Season 2 on the CW. Far too long to wait for October 10th.... ;)

Supergirl's re-run did 1.6 rating. How many viewers does that translate?

I'm confused, how was it less successful than those shows listed? It got better ratings than those shows (maybe bar a few like Preacher as I have no clue what their ratings were).

In this context, there are (at least) two different criteria for “success.” One has to do with good ratings and popularity; the other is about financial profitability. And as we know, they don’t necessarily correlate. :word: E.g., a relatively popular series might get cancelled because it’s expensive to produce. Meanwhile, a low-rated/“loss leader” series is retained because (as it turns out) it sells big in Europe or on DVD.

Both criteria are valid; but it’s probably a good idea to indicate which sort of “success” one is talking about. Or use less ambiguous terms.

That is what saved "Code Black"...and almost saved "CSI: Cyber"...

It did not do 1.6 in the ratings...I would be jumping for joy. lol That is viewers you are looking at and that would mean 1.6 million viewers. It ended up adjusting down in the 9:00 hour, so it ended with .4 rating/1.24 million at 8:00 and .3 rating/1.11 million at 9:00 which actually is not bad considering that is better than the first run series they had in that slot during their season AND going up against the Bachelorette Finale and America Ninja Warrior 2 hours straight in both.

I still think she could do with shorter boots.

They wear Uggs in Hollywood...lol I wear them on cold days once I'm in my classroom...

Feet just get cold.

I thought the actual(?) reason for the "rural purge" was the arrival of demographic ratings data, and the desire to pursue wealthier, spendier urban audiences?

Nope....aesthetically speaking if they were below the knee it would actually cut her height off, as they are they serve 2 purposes, her long legs are there and not visually cut, and it protects her knees during stunts. Leave them as is...

Interesting little photo tweeted by Stephen Amell...
