Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - Part 7

Most superheroes have had a defining era and I feel like until this TV show Supergirl hasn't had one. Her greatest moments in comics was in a story where she died, her greatest moment in film wss in what's ultimately seen as a bad movie and outside of a few appearances in animation she hasn't left her mark there. But I feel like with the television show she's finally found what will be her defining moment. I think this show is going to be what she's remembered for for a very long time, like Superman was with George Reeve's and Christopher Reeve or Batman was with Michael Keaton & Christian able or that Wonder Woman was with Lynda Carter. I think with this show Supergirl has finally found her time to shine and it will be remembered for a long time as the definitive Suoergirl.

I think Berlanti has an opportunity to do what the DCEU can't do and that is bring the Crisis story to live action. Because Supergirl started life separately on CBS he just lucked into this predicament. He gets to play in the DC sandbox now. If he doesn't make use of it now he never will. We may have to wait who knows how long until another TV producer gets the chance.

They can put a twist on their Crisis. Have Superman die and have Supergirl agonize over his death. That would be iconic. Of course you could re-introduce Superman in the merged universe (Heroes like Supes never die for long.).

No need to do that though, sure you can gave a crisus but you don't just go killing Superman. It's just been done in the movies aswell, so no thanks.

There is not going to be a "merged universe", and a "crisis" event won't be happening any time soon.

I wouldn't be opposed some day, but I'd give it time.
Same here, there were some wanting it to happen asap but I think it's something (that if they do end up doing) they leave for a while. I love that Supergirl is on a seperate Earth to the Flash, Arrow and Legends.

If CW came up with an Hourman show, they could refer to all of these as the FLASH universe: Flash, Legends , Arrow, Supergirl , Hourman.

Or they could've done Hawkman/ Hawkgirl, but those two are boring as heck. :o

Yeah, a merged universe is something we'd have to wait for. Maybe a season or two down the road. Wait til rating start to sag or they hit an Arrow-style writer's block, then bust out of the rising doldrums with a Crisis Event to knock the socks off the fans!

Nice!

Disappointed Flash S2 is nowhere to be seen though. I missed a few eps here and there and was sure it would be put up right around the time their Hulu contract runs out (Sept 18), but apparently not.

Glad that the shows will be hitting Netflix a lot sooner after this coming season, they took far too long last time.

Also, I know it's spin, but I'm really enjoying hearing both the actors AND Kreisberg mentioning how this season, they're allowed to be more comic-book-y. I also think that's what Brooks meant when he said the new scripts feel "younger" and "more relevant." I really get the impression that the need to appeal to the older CBS demo was kinda holding them back somewhat, and now they get to let loose.

Melissa is so cute. :ilv::ilv:

Does she have these extra curls or waves in her hair for this new season?

She had them quite often in the 1st season, especially in the last few episodes.

Okay, 14 episodes into this show and it's still just decent, but really, all the romantic Dawson's Creek stuff really keep it from being great. I grow tired of one character happening to catch two others talking or kissing, or Winn giving Kara the cold shoulder when he's the one who kissed her...or Alex keeping the secret of who killed Astra.

Obviously I expect it to come out- hell, just watched the reveal- but I don't have this kind of patience for forced drama or conflict for the sake of drama. Or spelling out the themes of the episode, in fact. This is the kind of sappy writing I expect from present-day Arrow. So the show is decent, but man, this forced drama really kills my enjoyment.

Given how notorious the CW has been for overusing lens-flares, I have to say this is one poster where it works very well. (Plus, could this be part of a two-poster set? I can see it connecting with another one.)

Would be nice to get a decent promo pic of Superman.

Well, there is a series of posters for new shows debuting on CW this fall including Frequency and No Tomorrow along with Supergirl. Don't know if they will do something to link the women from the CWDCTV shows myself.
