Supergirl promo kicking off! This is excitinggg. The juxtaposition of the Super-Family is going to be amazing, and Momoa as Lobo is going to break the Internet. In. Let's go! Also' "Look Out". Gunn knows what he's doing.

Totally agree. My audience went nuts when Kara showed up and everyone was laughing at her drunken belligerence lol. She’s going to be great. I think Gunn will show a teaser or a sizzle reel from her film at Comic Con (which those of us who don’t have tickets sadly won’t see but that’s okay). The Super Hype is real. It feels good to finally see it.

And Momoa should have been Lobo from the beginning. I like aspects of his Aquaman character and he did a good job of making Aquaman “cool,” which was probably needed so general audiences would be interested in the character, but he’s SUCH a perfect fit for Lobo it’s crazy. He doesn’t even really need hair and makeup!

I believe DC is scheduled to have a presence to at least promote Peacemaker. So my guess is, they’ll make some kind of surprise announcements, or at least just make some broad “thank you” statements for the reception Superman has received. It’s too big of an opportunity to pass up.

That is cause he isn't in the Justice Gang. They obviously have a change of heart later as they help him.

So, I watched the movie again, this time with my parents (They loved it by the way) and it hit me in such a special way.
It took me right back to when I was a little girl and my dad rented the Christopher Reeve Superman movie, and I completely fell in love with the character. Watching this new one now with them brought all those memories back. It felt like coming full circle.

What really stood out to me this time were all the little details, the kind of things that make the movie feel so lived in and full of love.
Clark wears Jonathan’s watch, which you can actually see him wearing when he’s carrying baby Clark in that last scene, such a subtle but beautiful touch.
The Kent house is full of photos of Clark, like of course it would be. Proud parents all the way.
And in the Daily Planet, Clark has a photo of the Mighty Crabjoys pinned to his board (I love that little worldbuilding detail), and Lois has that sweet framed photo of her name written in the clouds.

This movie really gets how much the little things matter, and it makes me love it even more every time I watch it.

There was one moment where I, and several others, laughed out loud. It was about halfway through the movie. I swore I wouldn't forget that scene and now I'm damned.....any salvation out there?

Yeah they do help him, but he's still not leading them. Hence what happens with Hawkgirl.

In other words, while they are friendly with him, they still won't follow his lead, and he's not their true leader. Obviously, he wouldn't have allowed what happens there. Or one thinks he wouldn't. He's still not their true leader and commanding them in battle.

Okay that’s fair but I think we’ll see him grow into that leader. It would have been jarring if the movie ended with him standing at the head of that big table in the Hall of Justice. But I think we’ll get there after he’s a little more seasoned.

When the other heroes follow his lead, it’s because he has inspired them - as was the case in the last act when the Justice Gang helped out in Jarhanpur despite not wanting to get involved before - it is not because he “takes command” or assigns himself their leader. He won’t do that, nor should he.

Well said. That’s basically it. He does (directly) lead on some cases but most of the time he’s more of an inspirational leader than anything else.

She followed his lead by intervening at all. Saved thousands of lives she wouldn’t have otherwise saved. It was presumably the first time they came around to his way of thinking on any level, and he wasn’t even there with them. They’re not gonna be suddenly perfect heroes the first go-round. They’ve taken the first step toward actual heroism thanks to him, which is huge.

Also, no matter how far down the road we get and how established the team is with him as a more official leader, there are always gonna be JLeaguers who do things Supes wouldn’t approve of. Always. Even/especially Batman. And Diana. Might as well start getting used to it now.

I don’t believe that I agree with your definition of what leadership should look like.

I guess I don’t understand how when unaffiliated people are jumping in to render assistance, you can or should be expected to micromanage their actions.

I don’t want to put words in your mouth, but it seems that you would only be satisfied if Superman was either pulling rank (which would be inappropriate given the relationships) or an authoritarian. And one core tenant of the Superman character is that he knows that he should not be an authoritarian. The whole plot of Kingdom Come was the one time that he played too close to that line before realizing his mistake.

I never felt Superman demonstrated true leadership with the other heroes. Sorry, I don't see it, and I stand by what I said. Maybe he will grow into it later, as Deck suggested, but I didn't get it from this film. I also found that Superman not interacting with the little boy with the flag was a huge missed opportunity.

I am not trying to debate or convince you of a position, I’m genuinely just trying to understand. What do you think “true leadership” looks like?
