Superman Returns Superman's Posey Talks Kitty

I think the stories before Superman`s death were really good...

Pickel please understand it's not that we're bashing StM at all. At least I'm not. If I may be so bold to speak for others to say that we don't want a rehash of StM because he disliked StM, it's just that we want an origional take on Superman, not a remake of a movie we've all seen before.

That's fine. The problem is, all the original ideas that were given before were soundly trounced by all fans who read about them. You can't really make an original take. What's been done with Post-crisis was Lois & Clark and Smallville. What's been done in STAS is there. Singer chose to set his movie in the universe of one of his favorite films ever. I can't fault him for that, and I can't wait to see the result. If you had control of the movie, you'd make it according to your favorite interpretation of the character as well.

What kind of originality were you looking for?

PS. You alright, man? You seem very subdued, and your spelling has gone to hell. Did you get married or something?

Oh, please. Post-Crisis crapped all over Superman's good name, giving us Peter Parker who flies, the most ridiculous crossover exploitative "event" ever (DoS), and an electric guy.

I'll take super-violin-playing and planet juggling over that angsty crap any day.

You all have Smallville.

All right I'm sick to ****ing death of this notion that permeates these boards about the "electric" Superman. The electric Superman was always intended to be a temporary transition, in order to set up a modern day take on Superman Red/Superman Blue. Some of you carry on as if it was an intended permanent change that failed to please so it was scrapped for the traditional blue and red suit.

As far as post crisis goes, well you don't read comic books so I don't much value your opinion there so not much to talk about. But you claim you aren't a fan of the angsty crap, so how can you be stoked for SR? That's what Singer has in store for you, an angst ridden Peter Parker from Krypton struggling to find his place in the world and in Lois' life, and just who exactly is the father? Stay tuned....

When we say original ideas, we don`t mean rewriting the mythos of Superman where Krypton doesn`t explode, Luthor is kryptonian, suit in a can, etc. I think what Singer is doing is an orginal idea. We`ve never seen Superman returning to Krypton before. I just wished this movie wasn`t so like Superman the movie. I just wish we had a different Luthor, more in tune with the comics...thats all...

Uh huh. Just like AzBats was intended to be a temporary change. Give me a ****ing break. They pitched an idea, they went with it, and it didn't sell. So they took it back. That's what happens.

a) When did I say I don't read comics. I don't read post-crisis stuff from the 80's-90's. Thank God they're starting to come back around and have fun with their characters again.

b) Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you? You never used to use run-on sentences and such horrible grammar.

There's a huge amount of difference between angst and drama, angst and romance. A titan forgotten by the world and the woman he loves is a mythic story. Seriously, don't you see the references to The Odyssey going on here? It's pretty blatant.

A dweeby guy constantly getting pushed around who just happens to have super-powers is a bit different.

So when you say "original", you simply mean "my personal interpretation."

Can't fault you for that. Of course, Singer did the same thing - his personal interpretation just happens to be close to STM. The difference is, he's making the movie. :) Better luck next decade.

The difference is, even the bad stories in the 50's and 60's were still fun to read. The post-crisis stuff was either a) boring, b) boring, c) ridiculous, repetitive, and boring...

The hardest lesson I ever learned here was not to confuse my opinion with fact, I see you still struggle with that lesson Matches, my condolences.

Shh, don't let Morrison hear you, or Moore or Busiek or Waid or Johns or Wolfman or Puzo or...see where I'm going with this?

Lots of writers have made plenty of fans happy with their take on Superman, you said yourself the best Superman stories are elseworlds, those are the most origional takes of all.

aha i understand you know. so we need to se again how superman saves a plane. so we have to see again how superman and lois take of a building and fly. so we have to see again how luthor has a girlfriend like teschmacher. so we have to see again some earthquake. and i am not over. should i continue?
lets make something clear. i only have problems with the scenes. they look to me to much of a homage. and there are a lot of scenes that are homages. and we know now already about a lot of them .how much will it be in the whole movie?

i dont have a problem with the story. it is a great story from what we know. IMO

Priceless, fer a guy who doesn't read comic books you sure are in the know.

Grammer shmammer Matches, oh hater of comic book angst who can't wait to see it on the big screen.

Contradict yourself much?

BTW, you hungry yet? I can't wait to see you eat your #75 Superman.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did you get confused and think that I was outlining fact? In what way was my statement about pre-post-crisis not an opinion? You should know that I expect people who read my posts to tell the difference between a qualitative statement and a factual one. Seriously. Did you get hit in the head? Is it Alzheimers? Are you Kevin Finnerty?

Shh, don't let Morrison hear you, or Moore or Busiek or Waid or Johns or Wolfman or Puzo or...see where I'm going with this?

Ah, so we come to it. How many fans would be *****ing their crazy heads off if Singer had announced he was turning Red Son into the next Superman movie? Or Secret Identity? Or...wait a second, Waid? What original ideas did he come up with? If you say Kingdom Come, you better dig in. That story, while incredibly well-written, was not original.

And Moore might just be getting adapted to the big screen on June 30th. Who's the daddy again?

Lots of writers have made plenty of fans happy with their take on Superman, you said yourself the best Superman stories are elseworlds, those are the most origional takes of all.

Yes, and their viability as a franchise-starting major summer movie are next to nil. It'd be like taking Gotham By Gaslight and making it the sequel to Batman Begins. I don't think so.

My biggest concern is that I'll watch SR and feel I'd have been better off just popping S:TM in the DVD player...

Yeah, I do "get around".

Grammer shmammer Matches, oh hater of comic book angst who can't wait to see it on the big screen.

Ah, the old standby. Instead of debating my points, just reiterate yours louder and more often. Good job!

Contradict yourself much?

Don't say it unless you are willing to back it up.

BTW, you hungry yet? I can't wait to see you eat your #75 Superman.

Already had a corner in anticipation. Tasted like Hostess Fruit Pies.

Seriously, I am mellowing on the kid. As long as he doesn't do stupid crap like have telepathy or transfuse blood with a grown adult. I don't really care where he comes from.

Hardly, you would have to relinquish your crushing ignorance of comic books and literature in general, for me to confuse your opinion with any facts.

I was just pointing out how flimsy your so called opinions are due to the fact that they are baseless, and often contradictory.

Still Grumpy after all this time Oldguy..you know SR is going to be a great movie..time to admit it my friend.:D

Venom if it is great, I will surely admit I was totally wrong all this time. If it isn't great, will you?

You're not the same Oldguy I knew. That one actually debated, providing examples and some intelligence.

You seem to think you're getting a rise out of me with nonsensical insults and fallacious remarks.

I wanted battle. All I get is this trash. Oh well.

What a ****ing bull**** trap that is. Venom could love it, and you could hate it.

Example: If this movie is even a note-for-note remake of STM, I will be ecstatic and love it. You will hate it. Doesn't seem to solve that problem.

If it isn't great I will say so and I won't post on these boards until after the sequel starts getting made...I don't post on boards and whine and complain about movies I don't like...like some people do ;) I stay away and let the ones who like the movie/topic alone.

Oh please, you dream of the days when you misquote BT and pass it off as fact until I prove your lies?

What is there to debate? Post crisis is boring? Routh is as big as Reeve? You don't like angst except when Singer does it?

Post crisis sales were higher than pre so I guess it wasn't that boring.

Routh is wearing a padded suit, so I guess if he looks the same size as Reeve he cannot possibly be, because Reeve wore a tissue thin leotard.

When DC writes angst it's Peter Parker crap, and when Singer writes it, it's the Odyssey? Your position is so baseless on the last one it invalidates your opinion completely, but hey whatever floats your boat.

I wanted to see if there were any new developments in SR , and I find that KK is ET, Luthor is out to destroy the world, and (most of) the rest of you are having a nice little circle jerk about how awesome the movie is going to be before you even see it.

I haven't missed out on much.

LMAO, ah yes Venom, so true. I forgot, I'm not entilted to expression because it's not positive.

Do you think I keep people up at night with my complaints? Gee that would be swell.

Man, I love the term circle jerk. It's so...effective.

:)

No one will be eating anything, man. Being defensive of Superman is a quality trait that I enjoy in people. As much as I rag on Smallville it still hurts because I've loved Superman since the age of three. Anytime I see, hear, or read anything that I feel doesn't do him justice (in my eyes, anyway) then it really hits home for me. If SR sucks I'm going to be very depressed. If it rocks, then the party starts here.:supes:
