Superman Returns Superman's Posey Talks Kitty

I agree though, I would like to actually see the world without him.

Posey said. "He wants to destroy the world, and she doesn't want to," she said. "She [has] much more conscience about the world around her. She is into pretty things and money, but Kitty has a heart. And, yes, she has a change of heart. ... She is torn between materialism and love, but Kitty kind of wakes up. It's cool."

KK won't be evil llike Lex, she'll have a change of heart between materialism and love, but she'll wake up in the end. Some how I don't think she's going to wake up to choose materialism. Oh no, she won't be saving Superman at all.

Showcase, I respect your level headed approach to this project, but I think you are letting the fan take over here. I want a great Superman movie too, but just because there is going to be a new movie in june doesn't automatically mean it's going to be great.

How am I so sure it's not going to be you ask yourself? It's not going to be a GREAT movie because it's going to be a complete rehash of StM. Sure some of the surface details have been updated, but this movie will share all the same mechanics and twists that made StM the movie it was.

KK is going to be E. Teschmacher, Luthor will be Hackman, Kumar will be Otis, and Routh will be Reeve. Sure their portrayals will be darker, grittier versions to fit in the the mean times of the 21st century, but not enough to distinguish this movie from anything other than a rehash of StM, because the WB and Singer are too chicken**** to create origional content.

CK will arrive from Krypton, be nurtured by Ma Kent, move to Metropolis, reunite with DP staff, reveal Superman presence to the world through super-feat, Luthor will be arroused from his hole in the ground, plot and scheme revenge, travel to FoS to get the means to destroy Superman, CK-LL-RP-J? love square weirdness will insue(your only source of innovation, yay) Luthor aquires means to enact plan, and does so, Superman attemps to intercede, gets depowered from kryptonite, KK has a change of heart, Superman repowered in time to save the day.

Oh wait, I forgot in this one Lex Luthor is raising a continent instead of sinking one, oh of course, how short sighted of me to not recognize such vibrant innovation.

SR is a vague remake, and as Bruce Lee said, nobody ever aquires a taste for diluted wine, means that only the basest of simpletons are going to be wowed by amazing special effects and walk out thinking this was a great movie.

Of course I could be wrong, I'll be here on July 1 to admit I was wrong if I am, but I ****ing doubt it. Most likely the thread is going to be titled I told you so...

This was a truly epic post. I agree with you on everything you stated.

I would have been thrilled if she had been more like 'Mercy' from TAS.

It would have made Lex seem more powerful.

^Explain how having Mercy involved in the storyline would make Lex more powerful?

Superman's Posey Talks Kitty

Parker Posey, who will star opposite Kevin Spacey in Bryan Singer's upcoming Superman Returns, told SCI FI Wire her role as Lex Luthor's girlfriend builds on a similar character in Richard Donner's original Superman movie. At a party for her latest film, Adam & Steve, Posey said in an interview that she gets to wear stylish clothes and carry a Pomeranian pup through most of her Superman scenes as Kitty Kowalski, girlfriend to Spacey's Lex Luthor.

The role is similar to the part of Eve Teschmacher in Donner's movie. "I'm in the Valerie Perrine part from the original movie," Posey said. "She is ... the girlfriend of Lex, and of course, he wants to take over the world."

But the character is less evil than one would expect, Posey said. "He wants to destroy the world, and she doesn't want to," she said. "She [has] much more conscience about the world around her. She is into pretty things and money, but Kitty has a heart. And, yes, she has a change of heart. ... She is torn between materialism and love, but Kitty kind of wakes up. It's cool." Could this be any more of a Miss Teschmacher rip off?

Bravo Oldguy. What sickens me is seeing fans make excuses such as "Well maybe she is the Mercy from TAS!" even though she is described exactly as E.T.. It as if they are trying to justify everything Singer does.

By the way, does the entire "Luthor wants to destroy the world" quote bother anyone else?

What sickens me is the haters already making an ASSUMPTION when the film isn't even out yet. You do NOT know it is an E.T. ripoff and trying to come to this half-ass conclusion just to try and prove some "fanboys" wrong is beyond sad.

And you don't know it isn't - at least the "haters" have something to base their assumptions on.

Didn't say I didn't. However, I'm not turning it into something to rub into the faces of "fanboys" just for the sake of doing so.

And pray tell what they have to base this assumption on? You know, the dim gold-digging bimbo that may or may not have a change of heart isn't necessarily an original or unique character.

I believe Kitty was actually rich before Lex, the reason he's dating her is for her money...so techinically she's not a gold digger.

Which is another way the two are different. Luthor didn't need Tessmacher around, he needs Kitty for her money.

That fact will be wasted on several people though who just want to jump to the ASSumption that Singer is just an uninspired rip-off artist.

Heheh his flying continent maybe?

Destroy the world plots are so stupid. And to my knowledge Lex Luthor has had many incarnations over the years, but I cannot once think of a Lex Luthor who wanted to destroy the world.

Hopefully she was just speaking in generalities.

Like what I said before, a character like Kitty could work out in the 70s or 80s, because there were no 'standards' in superhero movies. Hell I liked Donner's Superman.

But I feel that Kitty may or may not be the "Jar Jar" of Superman Returns. I doubt she'll be super annoying, but deep down I would rather not have a character like her. I'm being very judgmental, I know.....but I want a more serious side villain.

I love that Oldguy's back because there's stuff to ***** about again. That must have been a tough couple of months there for ya!

Regarding everything in this thread: screw you all, I'm getting what I want. :)

WTF!!??!!!

Luthor's goal is to destroy the world?

No. As stated time and time again in all official press releases, Luthor's goal is to "render Superman powerless once and for all."

This is Parker Posey answering questions quickly for a one-paragraph interview. Kinda like Katie Holmes confirming on camera that there would be a Green Day song tie-in for Batman Begins.
