Gah! Figs and dude love loved this? Now I need to see this movie! I guess I might see it tomorrow. And I think I'm seeing Inception tonight.

See it, it's fun as long as you know what you're getting into. Hardcore action film with the typical cheesy and sometimes bad dialogue. Terry Crews doesn't get much screen time in the first half but his scenes in the third act more than make up for it.

Like I said in my original post, reviewing it as an overal film I give it a 2 or 2.5/5 but reviewing it solely as an action film it's a solid 4/5.

For a movie like this I take it that's a good opening number for Friday.

I have to correct you in one spot. I'm pretty sure Ray Park is Gary Daniels' clone, not the other way around. Daniels made his debut in 1988.

You're right but I honestly thought it was Ray Park until I got home and checked on IMDB. He even had the martial arts down like Ray.

Glad this film is kicking ass at the box office like it did on screen.

Honestly, if you're a guy and didn't like this film, reach down and check for nads because they must be MIA.

Umm...when I read his review last night he seemed to have liked it, unless the entire review was him being sarcastic, which I seem to doubt.

I didn't read it. Just read his posts. Plus I know Vileone. Dude just seems to hate everything no matter what. Not that it's bad, it's just his personality. He's just a poster you love to debate for the heck of it. He's my boy.

Read his review. The line he used as best worst action film is true. It's not a good film by film standards but as an action film it's awesome.

I used to think that too about him not liking anything but that's not really true. It's just when it comes to old properties a lot of us grew up with like Transformers, He-Man and whatnot he's pretty protective and skeptical. Just look at their ideas for Masters of the Universe. Could definitely turn out to be one of those INO films.

Looking at The Expendables Friday BO take, i'm glad it came out weeks after Inception. That would have sucked if it was released during Inception's second weekend.

Yess!! His team; J.C. Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Wesley Snipes, Ray Park, Danny Trejo, Vin Diesel, and Zoe Bell!!

Here's mine:

Actually, this would be half of Arnold's team. These guys would be cameos roles while the other half of the team took up all the action scenes.

I'd also get Michael ****in' Biehn up in this **** somehow.

I would disagree with the VileOne's review, I don't think it truly deserves the title of "the last great manly men of action movie of all time". It's not up there with the likes of Predator, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Rambo and Terminator. It lacks the genuine atmosphere and tension of these films. It lacks the character chemistry of these films. It's just doesn't capture the right vibe that it was striving for, at all.

I read one review that stated that this is a direct to dvd worthy film, only saved from that shame due to the notability of the cast. I think that pretty much sums The Expendables up.

While I agree that it lacked what those action classics had, I do not think at all that it was really DTV worthy. Maybe with an even smaller budget yeah but as far as i'm concerned it was good enough for the theatre.

Absolutely loved it.
10/10.

I'll save the 11/10 for the extended cut that Stallone said is preparing for dvd/bluray.

If you were to base this on the story then yeah it's nothing above dvd but actionwise it's a notch above.

Just got back from seeing it. 7.5 out of 10. It seemed to lack any spark forme, and I really wanted to like it more.

The chemistry between the action stars felt forced, and the scene between Arnold, Willis and Stallone was borderline cringe-worthy. You could tell by Arnold's line deliver and timing that he's been out the acting game for a while.

The action, on the other hand, was top notch. The hand to hand stuff was incredible, especially Jason Statham, who bought his A game to this movie and was probably the best cast member of the group. Lundgren, Crews, Rourke, Li and Couture all felt like they phoned in their performances.

My second favorite action movie of the summer, after The A Team. The A Team-while having shoddy cg, made be believe that they were a team and had camaraderie. The Expendable did not.

Nice! I had no idea that the extended cut was in fact going to happen.

I caught this a few times but overall I didn't find it to be too bad.

I agree about Arnold being out of the game for too long but I still enjoyed the scene. The line about being president was pretty funny, a sort of low blow to him.

I agree with all of them somewhat phoning in their performances except Rourke. Some of his scenes did feel like good 'ol Rourke but that closeup when he's telling that story was pretty damn good.

Still have to see The A-Team.

Still have to see The A-Team.

Yeah, the close up scne of Rourke was the exception.

That's the problem..most didn't see The A Team, for whatever reason, and overall it's a much better movie.

I wanted to but money was a bit tight at the time but I was really looking forward to it. I'll definitely see it when it hits home.

Expendables is going to be winning the weekend beating out emasculating garbage like eat pray love and scott pilgrim.

Man, what an awesome experience. Towards the end there was so much fighting, guns, bullets, knives, and death I thought had a sensory overload.

My favorite character was Lee Christmas.

****ing sick this movie was. I got what I wanted and what I expected. Some bad dialogue and thin acting? Check. Over the top villains? Check. Awesome bloody action and explosives? Check check! :awesome:

I haven't been excited about action since The A-Team.

And Rourke's speech was great. He played it just right. Anymore it could have been corny. But I felt for him.

My favorite action bits:

The bit where Statham gets up on the nose of the plane and blows the soldiers on the dock all to hell. :wow::awesome:

Statham owning the guys on the basketball court.

And the entire goddamn basement fight. :wow: HOOLLYYYY SHHHHH!!

When Terry Crews comes in with that goddamn gun and blows them all away! :awesome:

The guy getting his neck snapped back.

Then Robert's death. :awesome:

My face was like this during the action scenes. :awesome: I feel I'm overusing this but that's all I can express. The look is still frozen on my face.

I loved the Sly, Arnie, Bruce scene.

"We should have dinner sometime."

"When?"

"In a thousand years."

If Arnie and Bruce are in the sequel alot more it's already better.

We liked all the same parts.

Statham definitely made this movie for me.

I though Jet Li was used too much in a comedic way. He's probably the most badass, well trained martial artist of the entire cast, yet in all of his fights he was getting owned....
