Arnold Schwarzenegger's character should be villain of the sequel, alongside his very own team of mercenaries, which includes Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kurt Russel, Wesley Snipes, Scott Adkins and Danny Trejo.

Making a sequel with all of the actors that were approached but turned down plus a few others like that would be a fantastic idea...maybe they can throw in Vin Diesel and Sam Worthington.. :p

I enjoyed the action, other than that, meh. Arnie's cameo wasn't great but I did enjoy Willis'. As for Stallone, he just looked awkward most of the time, kind of like he knew he was getting too old to play the cool tough guy. Mickey Rourke made a very poignant speech which I enjoyed also.

Is it open in the UK?

There are reports of plenty of Thursday midnight showings sold out!!:wow:
Could this be the big Box Office surprise hit of this summer??:awesome:

I wouldn't count on it too soon. They could just be some of them. I'm not expecting most of them to.

BoxofficeMojo is reporting quite a few midnight showings sold out.

I think thats quite unusual for a R rated movie like this.I have a feeling this movie is going to open bigger than many people think.:cwink:

Now that's an idea for a sequel.

When Van Damme asked "what's my character?"
Stallone should have said " Your wife has been killed and your out for revenge"
Van Damme would of jumped on this .

If Stallone had of gone to him with the idea of him playing twin brothers and he would have jumped on this.

Bad acting: check
Bad one liners: check
Simple 80's cheezy action flick story: check

Loved every minute of it. :D

Im sorry if Im not up to date but theres going to be a sequel?

Saw it last night and absolutely loved it.

Yes, there is terrible, awful, and laughable dialogue, mostly from Rourke. Eric Roberts was a lot of fun, he brought a healthy amount of cheese to the role, hell, the guy is just fun to dislike.

Once you get past some of the bad acting and dialogue, both of which are staples in so many great 80s flicks anyway, it's one hell of a ride. I know it was mentioned before but it does feel like a bit of the movie is left on the cutting room floor.

The fight choreography was fantastic and most fights were unique, and there was some really cool gun and knife play. Sly got really creative with handguns, and it's ****ing awesome in the climax of the movie. And compared to Predators, the AA12 comes off even better in The Expendables, showcasing the different shell variaties and capabilities. It literally turned soldiers into ground meat. And when you see it debut in the movie, your jaw drops from how badass it is.

I don't see the age problem with Sly. He hangs in there no problem. My only other beefs were with some CGI in the climax regarding CG fire and a knife. But I can overlook them.

It was a lot of fun, going to see it again tomorrow.

Arnold's introduction was glorious as well. Entering in a veil of white light. Loved it. :awesome:

I have 2 spoiler questions for you.

1. Did Crews or Li get killed in the movie?

2. How was Crews character in the movie?

I'm glad Stallone cast Crews in this. He needs more exposure, I like him. He cracks me up in the numerous comedies he's done. In a godawful movie like White Chicks, he was the best thing about it.

Kind of sad he got a second of screentime in Terminator Salvation and it was him dead behind Christian Bale. :csad:

Stallone has already mapped out a sequel . The producer says if the intake is good enough by Monday they will start moving ahead with it .

Crossing my fingers that the older generations get off their asses and see this in the theatre.

It is time to sticky this thread. It is an insult for Inception to be up there for so long

Eh, Inception has more talk and hype behind it not to mention it's a deep enough film to keep the debates going.

I'm really excited to see The Expendables(going tonight after work)but I expect the discussion to be similar to the amount in the Predators thread. Personally, I don't think it needs a sticky.

No way dude if Arnold were to lead a team it needs to be all the well known guys that turned this one down if they change their minds

Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kurt Russel, Wesley Snipes, Jackie Chan & make Bruce a bad guy as well

Cameos can include

The Rock, & Vin Diesel & the likes of those that are just there to kick some ass for either team

Anyone know of a good website that shows how many screens a movie is showing on in the country?

I ask because I went on www.fandango.com and the two main theatres in my area show The Expendables having quite a few more showings than Scott Pilgrim. I expected it to be even or Scott getting more screens.
