best movie of the year, hell the best movie of the decade so far.
this overtakes Inception as my favourite for this year.

it blows the balls off any other action movie.

After seing the crappy CGI in The A Team with their weak ass action, The Expendables delivered what it said on the tin.

raw hardcore action.

Another bonus is that its cleaned up the box office this weekend too, and damn right too.

I'm sick to death of these crappy movies that are supposed to give us action, yet give us weak results.

Thank You Stallone, You are a genius and a legend, long live the king!

Now bring on Expendables 2, and put in Van Damme and Snipes for added mayhem!

I wanna see Snipes kick some ass next.

Its also finally damn time Terry Crews got a proper action role and the way he cleaned up in the final scenes was nothing short of legendary!

Iconic cinema at its best.

I think everyone's balls grew a bit bigger after watching this in the cinema, quite simply the best money you will ever spend on a movie ticket.

:woot::oldrazz::oldrazz:

****ing sick this movie was. I got what I wanted and what I expected. Some bad dialogue and thin acting? Check. Over the top villains? Check. Awesome bloody action and explosives? Check check! :awesome:

And Rourke's speech was great. He played it just right. Anymore it could have been corny. But I felt for him.

My favorite action bits:

The bit where Statham gets up on the nose of the plane and blows the soldiers on the dock all to hell. :wow::awesome:

Statham owning the guys on the basketball court.

And the entire goddamn basement fight. :wow: HOOLLYYYY SHHHHH!!

When Terry Crews comes in with that goddamn gun and blows them all away! :awesome:

The guy getting his neck snapped back.

Then Robert's death. :awesome:

My face was like this during the action scenes. :awesome: I feel I'm overusing this but that's all I can express. The look is still frozen on my face.

Glad you loved it Doc! A really fun and badass flick. If I had the money I would see it again but I think I should wait for home video release.

Yeah, the basement fight with Crews was awesome. I was in a packed theatre and could hear a good amount of 'ooohhhs!' and 'hell yeahs' as well as some good laughter during certain smart ass lines of dialogue.

I had a question for anyone who remembers. What did Terry Crews say about Christmas after he stopped shooting the gun??

I agree. I've liked his silly ass in the comedies he's been in and was hoping he would start to get bigger roles, especially action roles like this one. At first I was thinking he wasn't going to be in it enough, or have time to shine really but near the end what he did was badass.

Directed towards his team mates, who he just saved.

"Remember this at Christmas."

Yeah, that line was great when the awesomness ended.

"You *****es remember this at Christmas!"

Yeah, Crews scene with that gun got a great response.

It brought me back to Jesse Ventura in Predator with the chain gun. Hell, this time, we got to see more of this gun's impact.

Wow this sounds amazing...i have to wait to see this on Monday cause my dad and his friend wants to go with us
so this thing is as hardcore as it gets?

Don't expect a super violent blood and guts everywhere kind of movie but it's got some damn good action. Real fun movie.

Two sides of the coin on this one.

First of all, this was the most entertaining movie by far for a long time. These movies are my favourites, too bad there aren't that many out these days, I mean, violent and funny action movie. The last one was "Shoot Em Up" and that wasn't that great (not counting Crank, that's too different in style).

BUT

Stallone disappointed me with his use of shaky cam and stupid close-ups. I know you cannot do it the way of the 80s, technology has evolved, but if you use CGI blood make it look good and not so obviously fake. The love story was ******ed, what was the point? It wasn't funny, it wasn't moving, it was just there to be there. Jet Li's character was just there to be ridiculed, it seems... The "small" jokes were insulting.

OVERALL

the movie was my style. For the sequel Stallone should probably not direct and get someone like John McTiernan. That would be great.

8.5/10

Just got back from seeing it and I loved it! The best action movie i have seen in a while. However, I was a bit disappointed with a few things about the movie. I know no one cares about the story in an action movie but the story was pretty weak. The love elements with Jason Satham and then the bits with sly and the general's daughter was stupid and kinda pointless. Then with all the talent on screen here many characters were under used. Like Terry crews, Mickey, and jet li who was used mostly for small jokes. Also Li keep mentioning that he needed more money but never gave a reason.

Anyway I loved the action scenes just pure awesome! Loved the scene with Sly, Bruce and Arnold. The crowded geeked out and clapped when Bruce was talking then went nuts when Arnold walked in. The loved the line about Arnold wanting to be president. Also loved the speech Mickey gave. Overall, loved the movie 8 out 10.

I saw it this afternoon. It blew my mind, I reallly did get exactly what I was expecting, and more.

Forget acting, or dialogue. This movie was PURE FUN!

Terry Crews totally stole the show at the end, I was just hoping he would've been in it a bit more. But I still loved all his scenes. Especially the hallway.

The greatest line in the movie goes to Sly, directed at Arnold. That got a HUGE response from the crowd. Actually, the crowd was very much into the movie. The knife in the throat got a huge applause, as did TC's enterance with the gun.

I give this a solid 10/10. It was a smash-in-your-face action movie minus all the fancy wires.:hrt:

saw this yesterday. Awesome the most entertaining movie of the year(and kick ass of course) it took me back to the 80's and I was filled with nostalgia. th last 20 min were just badassery in its purest form. My favorite action moments.

Stallone killing the would be rapists with his knife( a nod or repetition of the scene from rambo)

statham slashing a soldier back and forth with a huge knife

Statham and Li takijng turns with a soldier and stathams neck breaking finishing move!

Terry crew's literally blowing heads from torsos and blowing towers with his giant gun.

sly's line of arnie
wanting to be president
had the crowd in stiches.

I didn't care about the plot or dialogue because that's not the reason why I wanted to see the movie. So for me its a 9 out of 10. 9 simply because some of the action was shot too close, but the rest of it was great. Now bring on the sequel

This movie was crazy awesome, though I was a little pissed when...

they let Lundren back onto the team. That's some BS! I don't care if he was awesome in the movie, I would've killed that bastard if I were Stallone, he was gonna kill Jet Li!
But anywho, highly enjoyable film!

Jet Li: "I need more money"

That bit had me laughing.

I didn't expect it to be so thin on plot (what was the point of the Charisma Carpenter plot? She was there for a whole minute) and a lot of the fight editing was badly cut, too quick and extreme close ups, almost ruined Jet Li - you love to see this guy move as well as hit (watch Fist of Legend), and most of the Expendables were appeared at the start and then the end, and Angel Batista was underused and unconvincing. Gary Daniels deserved a bit more, I think, he was great in Jackie Chan's Cityhunter. The Vilenna is a throwback to the Val Verde of Commando and Predator though. It was fun (that Arnold line got loads of laughs), but it lacked any of the drama that creeped into Rambo IV.

Yeah but for me, he was one of the boys and had no one else but them...he was incredibly misguided and made some really stupid decisions. The drug problem exactly didn't help either.

In the end, i'm glad they took him back. They're all "brothers" after all. Getting shot by Barney and the fact that he had a chance to kill him but didn't, seemed to have snapped him out of it.

i love action like die hard style! not much of an overly gore action lover...so dang this has got me excited!

Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables is a symphony of extreme violence and relentless action and i loved it.
Dont look for a heavy plot because you wont find it here.
The mission which is to deploy in Vilena, South America, to overthrow a local dictator, General Garza (David Zayas) but he is being controlled by a ex-CIA agent James Monroe (Eric Roberts) running drugs out of Vilena
The scene featuring three action icons Sylvester Stallone,Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is all too brief.
There's not much character development or acting unless you count Mickey Rourke as 'Tool' who has 2 monologues about being with a woman and losing your soul or care for anything.
The action isnt for the faint of heart, bodies are broken fast and reduced to pulpy mass and things get blown up really good.
All of the stars do there thing Sylvester Stallone,Jason Statham, Jet Li,Randy Couture Dolph Lundgren ,Terry Crews and for the first time in my life i have fallen in love with a gun the AA-12 automatic shotgun.
So dont go in looking for Shakespeare though he is mentioned in the film, but hey you know what to expect from the various movie posters for this flick alone
Scale of 1-10 an 8

Spill.com sorta turned me off of seeing this... and i usually agree or understand their critiques on movies..

i keep hearing the same negatives from everyone... and no positives.

it just seems people liked it because they see their favorite action stars together. But whats the point if none of them shine like they should... and stallone isnt the greatest action director either.
