Ok since i couldnt find a similar thread, i thought i'd start one about the TDK game, specifically what we want it to be like (aside from "better than Batman Begins: The Videogame")

i guess as thread starter its up to me to...well, start.

I think TDK: The Game should definitely be free-roaming, and that the player should be able to change from Bruce to Batman at will. The only restriction I'd put on this would be that the "at will" part only be active at night, and during the day Bruce should be investigating the crimes that he solves as Batman.

another thing: free use of the Tumbler throughout Gotham.

now, as to Gotham itself: I think that it would be best to go from Downtown at one end to Wayne Manor at another end (on the mainland) and have the Narrows as a prominent feature in the main part of the city. This world should be expansive, from the dining room of Wayne Manor to the Batcave to the empty backroads from Wayne Manor to Gotham proper to the Narrows, the whole shebang. Wanna take the Tumbler out for a nice destructive drive from Wayne Manor to Downtown Gotham? go right ahead!

the expansiveness of the city also allows for Batman to literally pick his own battles, though i think it'd be cool just to glide over the streets using the memory-fabric cape from building to building. when a crime happens, you should be able to hear sirens and see the flashing lights of the police cars. obviously you can choose whether or not you can aid the police or let them handle it.

when certain elements that are essential to the main storyline (i.e. the film's story on which the game is based) the Bat-signal goes up and you go and meet with Gordon, after which you go and complete that task, using whatever force necessary to do so.

finally, i like the idea of GTA-style handling with citizens -- you never know who might be a mugger :cwink:

well there's my take on it for now. thats not everything i'd like to see but its pretty much it. thoughts? suggestions?

I like the Idea I do.

I was thinking more like the land of Hyrule layout than GTA, but def the tumbler part be GTA style.

Like if Wayne Tower was the center of the land like Hyrule Town is in the Zelda series. Then off shoot of that where you begin is Wayne Manor and slowly as the game progresses your batcave and "home" slowly grows and you collect and gain experience points/ lives/ gadgets like Link does in Zelda. With one ultimate boss the Joker and you gain aliances and help with Gordon and Dent and all that good stuff. You get a new suit like he does in TDK as you progress. ETC.. So basically the game is huge and there's alot to do. Alot of puzzles and riddles to solve, bad guys to fight, Moves to learn. The Tumbler could be like your "horse" hehehe get around faster. Get on top of buildings, wait for the Bat Signal at night and follow it.

HEHE, If you can't tell I love Zelda

I like the OP's ideas especially since BB: the video game was so easy. I think I beat it in like 2 hours max and the only motivation to beat it was to unlock the other costumes and play as Batman in older suits. I would love a free roaming game ala GTA or the Spiderman series. IDK about having him able to go from Bruce to Bats at will, I think that when he's not out stopping crimes he should be in the cave trying to solve the crimes. The only problem I have with free roaming games is I get so sidetracked from the original mission I forget to do it! Anyone else have that problem?

I liked how in Vice City the motorbike could jump ramps and rooftops to shortcut across town. Although in this game you'd accumulate damage points, not to the Tumbler but to the city itself. So don't destroy too many roof tiles or barricades.

oh! how about being able to change at any time? Think about that you're seeing a crime being commited as Bruce, then you just find a back alley to change, user your grapple to go up to a roof, then glide down with grace as Batman and scare the hell out of the others!... :woot:

because Batman operates only at night. i dont want the 1966 TV series, i want the Dark Knight:woot:

most likely the game is gonna turn out to be garbage

you should have to go back to the batcave at night though. or at least go there to refill your gas/ weapons/ energy.

Hey guys...I have a question about the Begins Game..sorry for the brief hijack too. :)

Is there a DemonBat in the Begins video game? I was told there was but I dont play these games and have never seen how he was shown there. Can anyone confirm this? Maybe post some screen grabs then?

Sorry for the side question here...:)
Gracias!
David

I just hope EA games does a better job with TDK. I hated how in BB they always showed the tips with the buttons.

If i remember right the B&R game was free roam, I hated it to be honest, but then again it was B&R...

if anyone here has played crackdown then i think that would be a great blueprint for the overall feel to the game, in this case however, having the ability to grapple from rooftop to rooftop instead of jump, as well as gliding around the city. also i would like to see something included regarding the detective side to batman, maybe finding clues and putting peices of a puzzle together, sloving crimes, stopping bank robberies, all of these things intertwined with the actual storyline.

They need to step up the plate on the videogame too because it felt lazy and rushed up. I regretted buying it.

I would love to see a free-roaming TDK game, especially one where the player has choices that affect the outcome of the plot. I really like the idea of having to build alliances - I can't help but think of Thief 3 in this, as it's definitely a sneaker game. I enjoyed that one because as the story progressed they opened up more and more of the city, which you could travel through at will.

As far as being Bruce Wayne in the story... I can imagine that being cool for a few missions, but I don't like the idea of being able to change back into old Brucey whenever you feel like it. I mean, the armor is an incredibly complicated piece of equipment that would be difficult to take on and off. Two or three day missions are fine, but I'd like it too be, again, like Thief 3, where the city seems to be eternal night and you have the option of crossing it by ground or by rooftop. Of course, in this one you wouldn't be robbing anyone. I think.

I also hate how linear the BB game was. There was one solution for every scenario. That's dull. And the scenario came one after the other. It wasn't very freeform at all. Also, the fighting sucked. The coolest part was how it all looked and the sneaking around, as well as how Batman wasn't a goddamn tank.

In effect - more freedom, more sneakering.

a cross between the splinter cell games, spiderman games, would be cool... to much to think abotu right now. but def have it be free roaming with like 100-150 miles and have a in depth story, not somthing you can beat over night... oh and have ti so you can advance on how you plsy (ie if you play "good guy" then you advance a certian way as opposed to "badguy" route)

Batman Begins: The Videogame was really really good. THE BEST batman game ever and they should do the same with The Dark Knight

well first off, everyone has their opinions about the BB videogame, but i think that so much more can be done. however, a good thing to carry over from the BB game into TDK would be the sneaking around part, in addition to the freeroaming engine. it would definitely make for a more realistic (at least in Batman terms) gaming experience

As much as these ideas would make an awesome game, we probably won't see anything great like that. they never seem to spend a significant amount of time on Movie video games, at least the batman ones.

my guess it will be a lot like BB video game was, with improvements in graphics and such.

I was thinking, maybe it could be free roaming, but when a major villain strikes, you have to quick finish up what your doing and get over there. If you don't get there in time, the villain escapes, then you'll have to resort to detective work and follow up leads to find the escaped villain.

Just an idea.

I dont care if its Big-headed Batman Begins Cart Racer.... just get EA off of the damn project.

understandable (and probably likely), but i created this thread so that people could throw ideas around for the kind of Batman video game they would want to see and want to play.

and you are right in that large developers like EA are more focused on marketing than on the game itself, which is partially the reason that the BB game suffered.
