Ok since i couldnt find a similar thread, i thought i'd start one about the TDK game, specifically what we want it to be like (aside from "better than Batman Begins: The Videogame")
i guess as thread starter its up to me to...well, start.
I think TDK: The Game should definitely be free-roaming, and that the player should be able to change from Bruce to Batman at will. The only restriction I'd put on this would be that the "at will" part only be active at night, and during the day Bruce should be investigating the crimes that he solves as Batman.
another thing: free use of the Tumbler throughout Gotham.
now, as to Gotham itself: I think that it would be best to go from Downtown at one end to Wayne Manor at another end (on the mainland) and have the Narrows as a prominent feature in the main part of the city. This world should be expansive, from the dining room of Wayne Manor to the Batcave to the empty backroads from Wayne Manor to Gotham proper to the Narrows, the whole shebang. Wanna take the Tumbler out for a nice destructive drive from Wayne Manor to Downtown Gotham? go right ahead!
the expansiveness of the city also allows for Batman to literally pick his own battles, though i think it'd be cool just to glide over the streets using the memory-fabric cape from building to building. when a crime happens, you should be able to hear sirens and see the flashing lights of the police cars. obviously you can choose whether or not you can aid the police or let them handle it.
when certain elements that are essential to the main storyline (i.e. the film's story on which the game is based) the Bat-signal goes up and you go and meet with Gordon, after which you go and complete that task, using whatever force necessary to do so.
finally, i like the idea of GTA-style handling with citizens -- you never know who might be a mugger
well there's my take on it for now. thats not everything i'd like to see but its pretty much it. thoughts? suggestions?
