The Dark Knight TDK to shoot in Chicago for 13 weeks!

It's just because TDK will be in Gotham mostly, unlike BB that was shot all over because of Wayne's travels.

Maybe they're planning to film scenes for the 3rd film while they are ther also which is why they might be there for 13 weeks.

It'll save them money in the long run.

I'll definitely be down there for some of it.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing (I mentioned this in the other thread). Film some of the 3rd flilm while in Chi-town. it will save money in the long run.

It also fits with something Heath said - that he doesn't start filming his part until 'the middle of [this] year.' A lot of his role obviously requires exterior shooting. Hmm. :)

the only thing this tells me is that the first picture a of christian in the new costume can not be far away..they are bound to do some rooftop shots like the first one..

And that means first shots of Joker as well...:wow:

The Dark Knight is set to film in Chicago again. Only this time, the cast and crew will be in the windy city for 13 weeks. This is more than twice as long as the Chicago production for Batman Begins.

Why is the length of this shoot important?

It could just be that Mr. Christopher Nolan has an exceptional action sequence, chase and exteriors planned that will take 13 weeks to shoot for The Dark Knight....or, we are getting two Batman films in 2008 and 2009. Perhaps the rumors of a two-part, simultaneously shot, sequel are true.

Batman Begins (2005)
The Dark Knight (2008)
The Dark Knight Part II (2009)

Could we be getting a double feature? Is this why there is so much confusion as to plot and characters. There have been many characters that people "in the know" have heard were involved in the new Batman movie. These characters have since been "nixed" off of the list. Could this be that those characters were actually in the script for Batman 3 (Oswald Cobblepot, Catwoman, Black Mask, etc)?

It's all theory of course, but why else would they need 13 straight weeks in Chicago for the shoot?

Think about it....we can hope.

"Holy good thinking Robin" I never thought til you created a thread. I could see happening "back to back" Batman movies we have Two-Face orgin done as well instead of waiting 3 years for a Batman movie in 2011.

CConn is right in his reasoning.

Also, a part of his logic, I think, is not getting his/our hopes up.

I could be wrong; but my logic says, "Don't get your hopes up."

However, good theory, Robin.

For those who plan to go to the shoot, Jett has something of interest for you:

I checked in with an "insider" in Chicago and was told that the THE DARK KNIGHT shoot in Chi-Town "...will be a summer shoot just like the last one...I believe the end of May is when they will set up camp." FYI...

I guess we will find who is going to play Dent by March.

And... For 13 weeks? Chicago? Wow, they are going with very long production. Probably 6-7 months

sounds like that,

lots of on location shots for this one..so god damn cool!!!

It makes sense since more if it will take place in Gotham (aside from the mysterious London scene...)

With filming so close, aren't we due some storyline leaks? Anyone? Bueller? :p

I'm going to quit my job, screw off all my family and friends, and devote my entire life to watching The Dark Knight crew 24/7 whenever they are filming. So I'm sure I'll get some info on the proceedings.

Just don't pity me.

Let's hope you get it before a restraining order...;) :p

would be nice.. but then again..i would rather just see some promo shots of the new suit..and a shot of ledger as the clown prince of crime.. ah heck who am i kidding..i want all information right now!

Nolan will be judge, Bale will prosecute, and Heath Ledger, in character, will be the jury. And Michael Caine is the star witness.

Bale: "Did you reveal to SHH poster Seen the whereabouts of my trailer to the Internet for all the fanboys to see?"

Caine: "NEVAH!"

Heh, don't we all?

At the very least, we'll have an official plot summary in March which will be...something.

I know that it's a big time long shot, but there were rumblings about it around September last year. And now with a reported 13 week exterior shoot, filming in Baltimore, London and other places it sounds like a huge project. In any case it's awesome.

We're either getting a meticulously made The Dark Knight or a back to back sequel.

I believe they aren't going for a long shooting process in Baltimore, so the main parts are Chicago and London. By July they should already leave set and start working on post-production details.

you really think that they will film 3 months in chicago for TDK? come on guys. thats impossible.
show me a movie whre they filmed 3 motnsh only in the city.

I'm in love with cityscapes and if any film needs em, Batman does, Nolan's Gotham is almost like the Mega City in the Matrix, enormous. If he can get as much practical coverage as possible rather than rely too much on CG that's great. Maybe Hong Kong will just be a 2nd unit shoot for related city shots.

They surely would have corrected that by now if it was a typo.
