The Dark Knight TDK to shoot in Chicago for 13 weeks!

When I first saw this thread - I read TDK to shoot in Chicago in 13 weeks. That explains my April 15th comment :(

13 weeks is a long time for one location. Granted, The Long Halloween does take place in Gotham. And correct me if I'm wrong, on two things, hasn't Nolan and crew been quoted on The Long Halloween as being source material, and why am I thinking Batman goes to Metropolis in LH?

*checks LH*

Wow....that's what I was thinking this whole time until you mentioned it. :O

I think this is even longer than the production for BB, which was extensive enough. If they're shooting for 3 months just for one city, I wonder if it means there will be less sets.

I believe they filmed for six months for Batman Begins; if The Dark Knight follows that same timetable, then half of the duration they will be shooting takes place in Chicago.

Is it just me, or does other movies take as long shooting?

I mean, of course a B-Movie doesn't, and or course SR did, but, say Fight Club, for examle, did Fight Club take as long shooting? I'm speaking of the entire shoot, mind everyone, not just the 13 weeks this thread speaks of.

Every film takes its own time to film. Some films, depending on scale, production and size, take considerably less and some take more. Not sure about Fight Club, though.

I imagine that took not as long as six months but quite a bit of time because it did feature special effects and such. I'm guessing it took about two-three months to film, but that's jusy my guess, so don't take it to the bank.

Might be Hush that you are thinking about.

I's agrees.

Your checks don't bounce, do they? :(

Fight Club is a relatively small-scale movie. I mean there's no exotic locales, it's not about places, it's about people and nearly all of it was probably done in soundstages. That probably speeds up the timetable on a shoot.

I'll be there for all of it, just as I was last time. 13 weeks!!!! That's crazy. 3 freaking months. They filmed here last time for like 4 weeks and that was awhile, but 13 weeks?!?! You guys will have to stay up with my website and check on news and set pics. Look for reunion pics of me with Bale, Oldman, etc. Can't wait.

The Dark Knight is set to film in Chicago again. Only this time, the cast and crew will be in the windy city for 13 weeks. This is more than twice as long as the Chicago production for Batman Begins.

Why is the length of this shoot important?

It could just be that Mr. Christopher Nolan has an exceptional action sequence, chase and exteriors planned that will take 13 weeks to shoot for The Dark Knight....or, we are getting two Batman films in 2008 and 2009. Perhaps the rumors of a two-part, simultaneously shot, sequel are true.

Batman Begins (2005)
The Dark Knight (2008)
The Dark Knight Part II (2009)

Could we be getting a double feature? Is this why there is so much confusion as to plot and characters. There have been many characters that people "in the know" have heard were involved in the new Batman movie. These characters have since been "nixed" off of the list. Could this be that those characters were actually in the script for Batman 3 (Oswald Cobblepot, Catwoman, Black Mask, etc)?

It's all theory of course, but why else would they need 13 straight weeks in Chicago for the shoot?

Think about it....we can hope.

i was just thinking that. maybe selina kyle n harvey dent are in the dark knight and catwoman and two face are in batman 3.

but me think nolan has some enormous car chase planned.

I want this sequal to be like what Godfather II was to I, and Empire Strikes Back was to Star Wars, and X-2 was to X-1 (the only problem that I have with comparing these films to TDK was the third one was always kinda a let down.)

Maybe this one will be different.

Holy cow! Thats a long shoot.:wow: Great news for the Batfans who live in chicago cause it was looking as if they were not going to shoot down there for a while.

Or, they could simply spend more time in Gotham in TDK than they did in BB, and thusly have to shoot more in Chicago than before.

Much too logical to be true, I know.

Word.

Well they have a good portion of Gotham built in the hangar, so I guess this means we'll be seeing more sections of Gotham in this movie.

Yeah I mean people seem to be forgetting that in Batman Begins the first half of the movie had Bruce Wayne on the other side of the world. This movie Batman/Bruce Wayne is in Gotham City and there to stay (as far as we know.)

It definitely indicates a big chunk of the shooting will take place there. Back to back, no, according to all our reports, it won´t be the case.
