It's all in the execution. It just wasn't edited and choreographed well in TDK.

Kali and Krav Maga would be perfect styles for Batman. Not flashy, but more visually appealing. And they are still very efficient counter attacking styles.

Keysi is a close cousin to Kali (as shown in this video) but I would also add Krav Maga to Batman's arsenal too.

I hope Nolan & Crew abandoned KFM (it's discontinued anyways) and went with Kali or Silat and Krav Maga.

This much I know. "The Amazing Spiderman" looks bad. I think it may be the flop of the Summer.

Nolan has gained a huge following for his Batman films. So with that said I still say TDKR will be the Summer box office champ.

Well.. I think you might just be in for one hell of a wakening! I don't think 'ASM' will flop at all. Actually, I think it looks to be a much better film then 'Avengers' It's definitely the "underdog" of this years superhero-film-fest, no doubt. But I have a strong believe that 'ASM' will be the 'X-Men First Class' of 2012. The action seen in the new trailer alone, looks so awesome! Like spidey and Lizard climbing on a ceiling and stuff. So much more badass, interesting & emerging to look at, then what was seen in 'Avengers', imo.

Spidey is still the "crown-jewel" of Marvel, if you will. It won't make 'Avengers' box office, no. But it won't bomb in any way either. Oh, and by the way. It could EASILY prove to be a much better film then 'Avengers'. But we'll see.

I do however agree that 'Rises' will end up making more then 'Avengers'!

ASM might be great but if it performs like First Class it won't do great at the Box Office that's not until the sequel rolls around.

I don't think any comic book film will top that tracking shot in Avengers for a long time personally. But then, i'm a huge fan of tracking shots.

I agree though that ASM won't bomb. Something with Spidey's name on it, good or bad, will be popular. I think it will make at least 600 million.

I saw avengers again when it hit theatres and there was NO Dark Knight trailer! Only an older Spiderman and other cartoonish movies (one with a redhead with bow&arrow)

Can anyone explain this?

The Theatre made it sound like they roll trailer footage separate from the movie then switch the movie on and they had no instructions to show anything with Dark Knight

Theres been others reporting this too. seems to be a crapshoot. unfortunate too because seeing the trailer in the theatre is just insanely good.

True. But if it's on par with First Class, as a movie, than it's already better then 'Avengers'. Cause that movie didn't earn its points on the story at all. It won because of great character handling & balance. Because it was entertaining, funny & not completely without heart. That's good enough for me.

But again. As a film based on story, acting and drama, I think 'ASM' could easily end up beating 'Avengers'. those elements makes for a much better movie, for me.

i went to the midnight screening of the avengers and the TDKR trailer got an amazing reaction...i was suprised since there was a ton of marvel fanboys...overall the new trailer got a great reaction from everybody who saw the avengers

I think it's physically impossible for TDKR to break the OW record without 3D.

Doesn't matter though, TDKR will still beat Potter i think. Avengers may have cracked 200 mill. But i see TDKR doing around 170-180 which is still utterly, utterly ridiculous.

These movie studios need to start giving us some money!

This looks like a really good successor style for Batman. It's similar to Keysi but looks a lot better, which might just be choreography issues. I've never been one to want Batman to be flashy, so I agree with Nolan's approach in that sense. I just want better choreography and for Bruce's skill to be more apparent. Batman should be extremely technical and effective. There should be wow moments when he's fighting. Not roundhouse kick to the face type wow moments, but moreso just amazement at how quickly and effectively he deals with opponents. I'd like to see him do more joint manipulation and limb destruction. Great, non-lethal ways for disabling opponents.

I think it was a little more. Without 3D it adds up to around 180 million. TDK with inflation was around 175 million.

Remember though that last Dark knight movie did so well partly due to Heath Ledger's passing

So many swooning girls, teens and women went only because he was in it out of respect?

I remember reading forums and things where thousands polled agreed, "no, I would not normally see this type of movie but did because of Heath Ledger"

Yes.

I think ASM will be successful, maybe it will not beat Raimi's movies in terms of Box Office Collections, but still do decent amount of business.

This article puts TDK's OW ticket total at 22 million, and The Avengers at 25.6 million. I'm not sure how reliable that stat is, but it seems to make sense, so I don't really see a reason to doubt it.

I hope I don't come off as a total fan-boy when saying the following! But I'm not the least bit worried weather or not 'Rises' will beat 'Avengers', as a movie. It will. It's Nolan. Joss Whedon did a great jov with 'Avengers'. But the movie isn't tough to beat, story wise. Just saying.
