Im 3 is the best of these Marvel bunch...but its still a very crappy movie. Not even Shane Black could save these mediocre trashy products that as taken over the genre.

If the poll was between Im3 and Batman Forever ? Yeah , Iron man is way better....But comparing it to good movies (whatever they are) ? Doesn't hold a candle.

TDKR is better in my book, though IM3 is good. But both are kinda disappointing. I'd rate TDKR a 7.5 and IM3 around a 6.5-7.

I'd go with IM3. Its a better honed continuation of its own story than TDKR was of its.

enjoyed both but im3 gets the nod due to its surprises/humour/subtext.

How long will this pill stay open? I hope it doesn't get closed like the ones on the main boards.

I was going to vote Iron Man 3 because it's shiny and new ( not because I liked it more , that would be impossible). However TDKR is more epic and reaches levels of emotional resonance that IM3 could only aspire to. I really like both films. I also find it funny they follow the Randy Meek rules of a trilogy. It's also amusing the two third films to break the curse still manage to piss off the hardcore fanbase. Is the curse truly broken?

While I wasn't blown away by Iron Man 3, at least I wasn't bored like in TDKR...

I have to go with IM3 on this one. Both tried so very hard to be satisfying conclusions to the protagonists' story, and even with their faults, IM3 was the more satisfying one

TDKR by far. IM3 is fantastic in my opinion but there is just so much more to TDKR.

Probably Iron Man 3 for me. Guess that can change. TDKR through multiple viewings has pissed me off. Kind of tough to judge fair, since IM3 was just released.

Hard to say but I'm going to give it to IM3 since it wasn't bloated like TDKR.

I think it's really interesting that the two films are so polarizing. There are numerous posts all over and even in this topic alone, which read something along the lines of "X by far, Y was awful." and vice versa. It's the "by far" (or similar remark) that catches my attention, because the person saying it probably cannot see how anyone would enjoy the terrible X over the spectacular Y. Meanwhile, the fan next door to them will never understand why someone would think the piece of crap Y is better than the gift to modern cinema that is X.

Now obviously there are people who loved both and people who hated both, but that's true for any film. You either like a film or don't like a film. Iron Man 3 and TDKR seem to take that to another level, at least amongst fandom. It's such a hot topic, the comparison of these two films -both the third in highly successful superhero franchises, both suffering or avoiding the "third movie curse" depending on your view.

I realize I'm not offering anything toward the actual topic of which film was better or worse (nor will I, if I can help it) I just think the entire topic is fascinating to begin with. Is it just because both films are so popular, or because they come from such popular franchises, that there is so much discussion about them? It seems like there's more to it than that. I mean, the first Iron Man film and Batman Begins were both big movies too, but fandom didn't split down the middle with those like it has with their sequels.

The Dark Knight Rises wins this one for me.

I won't be using spoiler tags since you should have seen the movie anyways to even vote, so yah...

I enjoyed the acting in Iron Man 3, but that was the case for the past two IM films as well. The story? Lacked terribly. The whole idea of Killian wanting Stark's help was left without an answer(how can Stark perfect it? All of a sudden he knows everything about Extremis when we know nothing of this except for a brush off one-liner to Pepper) or even the reason why Killian did all of these things to begin with(as well as it being a total inconsistency to the Ten Rings' portrayal in the first film). The Mandarin was a joke when Ben Kingsley could have gone down in history as portraying a very scary villain, but instead he ended up becoming more like his character in The Wackness than anything else. Aldrich Killian, a character already in the comics, being the real Mandarin is a complete slap in the face to all the fanboys that wanted to see a great version of Mandarin, not for two villains to be one. If I wanted that, I can just watch Ivan Vanko in IM2.

With Bane, even though it seems as though he's thrown aside once Talia makes her reveal, Bane WAS a threat in the first place that broke Batman and he was the physical foe Batman had to get through as his other foes he dealt with mentally and spiritually/emotionally (Ra's al Ghul, The Joker).

Pepper having Extremis...ehhh....I suppose she could have helped out in The Avengers 2, lol, but I didn't care for the idea. I DO, however, am intrigued on the supposed deleted scene of Killian seducing Pepper and having a sex tape that he shows to Stark for leverage(if that makes any sense, lol). If you don't believe me, it's on CBM.com where Black and Pearce talk about deleted scenes.

I really liked that Harley kid though. It sort of goes back to Stark and Yinsen from the first film. That's one example of how the acting wins in this film when all else fails.

Also, I mentioned this in another thread, but when some feels that Gotham City's voice and soul should've been felt the most in TDKR, I find that S.H.I.E.L.D. needed to be used the most in this film. A supposed terrorist is involved and nothing from a branch of the government that's meant to deal with terrorism. Hell, at least use Hawkeye since we haven't heard a peep about him showing up in Thor: TDW, Captain America: TWS or GOTG.

Iron Man 3 has more problems that I can't wrap my head around. Call it being biased, but I expected more from IM3 while my expectations were meant with TDKR.

^^
Extremis was removed from Pepper.
Killian wanted revenge on Stark and part of that plan was Stark ( who is a genius you know ) to help him perfect the virus thus making Stark an accomplice.

Note : every tiny detail can be a slap in the face of a fanboy.

Yeah and it was also supposed to mirror the first one, tony being taken against his will and forced to build a weapon, having to break out ect.

I have to go with IM3. (And I say that as a huge Batman fan.) I just was not impressed with TDKR at all...

:csad:

I love both films immensely, and maybe this is because IM3 just came out, but I feel like IM3 will get more re-watch out of me.

TDKR by a good bit. Just more moments in it that resonate with me as a Batman fan.

IM3 is no slouch either mind.

I give TDKR a 9/10. I give IM3 a 5/10.

I was hoping IM3 would take this one and I had zero problem with the twist but TDKR has greater character moments (Batman, Catwoman and Bane), scope and more replay value so it wins this one.

Yes, IM3 is funnier with more ambitious action scenes but ultimately TDKR is more emotionally compelling and involving and IM3 is just too goofy and messy to be well regarded beyond a first viewing.

I was disappointed in both movies, but TDKR had Bane, Gotham being held hostage, and an extraordinarily tense third act. IM3 didn't impress me at all, except for the plane sequence.

I thought the twist was funny and surreal.

My other complaints is what hurt the score.
