They're planning something big I bet. Money on it being a massive fan pre-screening viral for the ungrateful, impatient fans that this series has had the fortune to allocate over the years.
I'm sure that won't be enough either right?
This movie has enpugh marketing already to make bank. Everyone knows it is coming out this year and almost everyone knows it comes out in july everyone else will find out through word of mouth.
Come on be honest, everyone *****ing about the marketing campaign are only doing so because they want something new to go crazy over and then be bored with 30 minutes later. None of you can seriously be worried this movies marketing is in any way going to hurt its box-office.
Batgirl. They obviously don't read the comics, and they still see Catwoman as a villain from the '60s show, so when they saw her fighting along side Batman, they just assumed.
You hear it all the time, that this is Batman, it will make big dollars regardless. The film will be good, marketing won't make it any better or worse. Yes, that is true. But to sit on your hands and give the very bare minimum in coverage can promote frustration and not just anticipation. I'm really only asking for existing still to be released in high resolution at this point. I don't see the big issue in doing that. Oh well. It's out of our control. I just hope they don't leave things too late. If there's stills/photoshoots of Hardy, Hathaway and Bale out there I'd like to see them, and not for them to be hidden away. I want to document the film. Around now is the time to do it, because even though it will be a fantastic movie, it will come and go and it'll probably be harder to get them out than it is now.
It's not really about revealing things too soon. It's about choosing the perfect time to release something to make an impact... which is always when you're least expecting it. Nolan & WB have always been good at that with marketing for this series. It's always a "Wam! In your face!" type of situation and surprising.
Indeed.I understand that, and this has nothing to do with successful marketing, but what's holding back WB from releasing existing pics in higher quality (stills from magazines, etc.) like they've done before? That's what gets me. At least release those - nothing revealing about that.
Question: Do you think comments like Freeman's can hurt box office results?
Spdieys marketing really kicked into gear with the two-month-to-go to the day... uhm, date. So my guess is the earliest of the upcoming marketing boom will come not before the 18th. Ie. next week.
Well... Freeman's not wrong...I'm only posting this to stir some conversation, since we're getting bored:
Alleged reason why TDKR's BO might suffer.

Good point, and I can definately see the desperation from Sonys side. Only 90 minutes long and with the rumors that they are not happy with the result is kinda laying the ground for a massive bomb for them.I remember reading an interview with someone involved in film marketing where the guy said that, when a movie shows way too much too early, it's a sign of desperation for the studio. I tend to think that Sony has very little faith in Spidey, and are pushing everything out there to make the maximum impact for opening weekend before word of mouth sets in(I'm not saying that the movie is bad, but apparently Sony execs aren't pleased with it).
Perhaps WB is so confident in TDKR that they don't feel the need to blow their wad too early.
But I've been wrong before.![]()

It was rumored some weeks ago. It could be wrong, but I wouldnt be surprised if it was.TASM is 90 minutes long?![]()
Agreed. People like Batman, his world and the previous film. I think it's going to be that simple. But no, I dont think that will impact the BO at all.

Marc Webb dismissed that runtime:Um wha....Even Green Lantern was like 95 minutes![]()
"Yeah, its right around two hours. There was something on some website that said it was an hour and 30 minutes, or something like that. No. Every once in a while, its really interesting because you hear people talk about information that gets out and youre like, Oh, yeah, theres some truth to it. But sometimes, things come up and youre like, What are you talking about?! Thats one of those things. I just dont know where that came from."

That said, it's nothing wrong to atleast reminding people the movie is coming out once in a while. In my country (sweden) we havent even gotten then first theatrical trailer for Rises! Clearly annoying as hell![]()
Ah phew, all is good thenMarc Webb dismissed that runtime:
