The thing is, Wally Pfister said in an interview a while ago that they filmed some stuff in the desert [in India] that ties in with the Cardington sets. So it's possible that they constructed the well inside the hangar, and they used India for the exterior shots when Bruce climbs out and escapes.

indeed.

It's also possible he's talking about something else.

Good god just look at this

William Wallace anybody?

Any speculation about when new spots might be released?

Not sure how well they do at ratings but tonight's the season finale of 'Touch' (FOX).

Just about to ask the same thing, any chance of spots tonight?

Hm, I would disagree on the chanting. A similar argument was used to say that it was Bane climbing the well.

There's no evidence of the prisoners chanting, and they're all shown chilling when Bruce steps out of his cell.
It still seems like he might be explaining a phrase from a foreign language though.

Okay... watch again:

It's at 1:17.

"What does that mean?"

"Rise."

We know that Deshay Basara means "the fire rises" or something like that. Bruce is asking what it means, the "it" here is quite obviously deshay basara or a derivative thereof...

Either way, it's not an English chant, and I don't see anyone but prisoners there in that clip.

Even if it's not being chanted... even if someone's drawing it, or just saying it to themselves... it's not an English phrase.

I thought it was today and it's 2 hours? Or is there no new episode today?

ETA: Ah ok... I thought it was today. :(

If it's outside Gotham, it could be similar to how criminals were transported from Britain to Australia as a punishment.

indeed.

Yeah, I'd assume a lot of sets were constructed in the hangar.

But the thing that makes me wonder [again, from one of the first interviews we got]:

“Chris flew down to India in December last year in a hush-hush affair for a recce in Jodhpur, and he loved the place. He will shoot a two-day desert sequence there and inside the Mehrangarh Fort on May 6 and May 7,” says an industry source.

Being the kind of guy he is, I doubt he and Wally will miss the opportunity to make some cool aerial shots of the place. There must be something more about this place.

It could be ANYTHING he's asking that question about. A symbol, a phrase...anything.

Many of Bane's men are foreign.

To be honest, I don't the chant will be used in context in the film.
I personally think that the chant is simply Bane's theme.

Imagine if all the Agent Smiths were chanting the song from Matrix Revolutions while Alpha-smith and Neo were fighting.

I definitely think something important happens there.

And I think the well is outside of it.

I have always been of the mind that there are two pits.

He could be asking about anything, like a guard giving an order in a foreign language.

Watch the clip from the trailer again. I posted it above.

I don't see any guards there. It's all prisoners. Why would any one of the prisoners be using the phrase, or something similar, in Gotham?

And even if it is a guard barking an order, why would he do so in a foreign language to a prison in Gotham, which is in the US, who probably only speaks English?

They had a helicopter for IMAX shots as well, it was reported.

That's assuming the Prison is in the US. I dont think it is

Anyone else waiting for them to do trailer 3?

I guess the place would look amazingly beautiful on IMAX, especially from the air.

I definitely think something important happens there.

Hmm... Can you elaborate on that?

It could be ANYTHING he's asking that question about. A symbol, a phrase...anything.

Many of Bane's men are foreign.

What he's asking about means "rise". We know that "deshay basara" means something along the lines of "the fire rises". This means that what Bruce is asking about is likely related, in some way, to "deshay basara".

So let's say it is an order barked from a guard to a prisoner. Gotham is in the US. The chances of one of the prisoners knowing a language other than English will be minimal. Why would the order come in any language other than English?

To be honest, I don't the chant will be used in context in the film.

I agree. I'm not saying the prisoners are actually chanting it. I'm saying that, in some way, Bruce notices that phrase or one related to it and he asks another (likely not even US-American) prisoner what it means.

That's assuming the Prison is in the US. I dont think it is

Um... I think we're misunderstanding each other. I think the prison Bruce is in could be in Morocco or India.
