The Dark Knight Rises The 80th TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread

Like all things, I just assume it's Nolan not wanting to reveal anything so it's a generic "Batman standing around" poster. Meh.

What's weird to me is that there is nothing NEW in this poster. There's nothing to start conversions. The broken Batman mask got people talking, made them want to see the movie. This poster just tells you that the movie exists.

It's like they've given up trying to get people excited about the movie, which is ridiculous.

Yeah but the second poster (I believe) they released for The Dark Knight was essentially just Batman looking out a window. While that poster had a better look than this one, what was the conversation supposed to be for that one?

At least in the broken Batman mask and teaser poster it evoked thought.

This one kind of does with the fire color scheme coming from behind it, it just does it in a lazy way.

It's not awesome but it's not bad. Again, I'm sure we'll be seeing the more AWESOME ones in the next few weeks.

If they had just used a different backdrop other then the teaser poster, it would be much more well received. Literally any other backdrop!

And the report of an execs screening was all a hoax. There was no standing ovation. :o

Actually, all of the news about Sony execs hating Spidey was coded for WB hating TDKR. That's why the poster isn't that great, they didn't want to spend any more money on this dud. It's all over, guys, the movie is gonna suck!

:oldrazz:

I agree. Maybe a snowy backdrop. So, 1st poster you have crumbling stuff, 2nd poster rain and 3rd poster snow.

The poster is not bad really. You guys are just disappointed because you wanted something new not rehash of the other posters.
They took the first poster, changed the color palette, and photoshopped a picture of Batman on it without even trying to make him match the perspective of the background. It's lazy, unimaginative, and poorly executed. There's three adjectives besides "bad" that accurately describe this poster. Pick your favorite.

Forgive me for wanting something that would require more than a preliminary understanding of photoshop and five minutes worth of effort.

IMO that poster is bad...maybe I'm too used to great manips from watching some of the art here in the forums, but this poster even seems fanmade!...

...compared to the "Why So Serious?" and "Welcome To a World Witout Rules" posters, this looks off and poor designed...kinda sucks to have this for a movie of this caliber.

It's ok to have a lower marketing but this is getting ridiculous, hope the movie doesn't get the flack by this decisions :s

Here's the new one....

Actually, this poster tells me that there will be a change good or bad but something strong, powerful.

Oh no! Not the poster!

I'm going to go cut my arm open, poor an abundance of alcohol within, and then cry in a corner until I bleed out and eventually die.

YOU RUINED MY LIFE WARNER BROS! I ****ING HATE YOU!

Exactly, and it deserves something better than this crap. ;)

It's a summer blockbuster. Most summer blockbusters, including the old TDK ones, have the hero standing around either in the cliche back to the camera shot or the cliche standing in front of a building or explosion shot.

The only posters that have been great in the Bat series are the Begins one, the Joker one behind the screen and the Joker one where he's standing in the street with his back to the camera.

The Inception ones weren't really inspired either. They're just posters for summer blockbusters, they're not high art, they don't need to be. Fact is, 99% of posters for mainstream movies are lazy and uninspired these days.

I mean, the first poster + random Batman photo + red blob in the centre (multiply mode). I can't imagine something more cheap and uninspired.

Not the worst poster, but it's pretty uninspired. Looks like a fan made poster to be honest.

I'm telling you, WB is trolling us. They are having a good laugh reading this forum right now.

Yeah I have no problems with the actual image. If it was just a different background...

Give them some credit, there's yellow and orange in there too. It was probably a gradient map.

Meh. I'm underwhelmed by the poster but still excited for the movie. Hopefully we get a poster of Catwoman.
