The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

I know is Gunn's job now but he could easily keep his mouth shut. He isn't saying the same thing about Shazam 2 and, judging by his years and years of tweeting and answering questions and fans etc, he seems to be quite genuine.
No, he couldn't. If this movie fails, that's an immense amount of money his own studio that's gonna fund his Superman movie and his DCU slate loses. He needs it to succeed.

The CGI is iffy, but the camera work is pretty dynamic considering what we usually get out of superhero films. This looks good. This "awful" rhetoric feels forced lol

I never quite understand the "looks liek a videogame" rhetoric that gets thrown around. All these dang cbms have videogame-y effects to some degree. Its kind of the nature of the beast. And it also doesnt the mean the movie's gonna be bad. Just look at Black Panther, a freaking fantastic movie with lots of REALLYYY rough unfinished cgi in its third act.

That bike Affleck is riding looks like the Batpod from the Nolan movies. I thought it was a shot of Bale's Batman for a sec.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that shot... maybe Bale is also in the movie. (But I would prefer if they kept that secret)

It's not the bat pod. There were set pictures of it, and it looks a lot different.

I'm just very happy with what I saw considering I used to have no hope for this. I haven't been this jazzed in a while. :)

The idea that Keaton's Batman had two suits before the '89 original is just silly, considering he's prettymuch just started in that movie. Though, I appreciate the nods to comic history.

But in spite of Keaton Batman having killed, the idea of him actually carrying handguns just seems wrong.

I am trying not to get my hopes up but this looks amazing. Keaton is still my favorite Batman.

Seeing those suits in the Batcave blew my mind. The armored suit, the blue and grey suit and the suit with the goggles (anti Freeze suit?) are so intriguing. The Flash and Supergirl stuff looks great too but it’s Keaton that is drawing me in.

I can see why Gunn is over the moon about this. Its basically an adaption of Flashpoint Paradox in the DCEU with Keaton's Batman in it. So it combines two different DC movie universes. The scope is massive. It looks geeky and nerdy as hell with all the time travel and multiverse stuff. It fits Gunn's sensibilities to a tee as a comic book fan.

I think there would be a lot more excitement about it if the DCEU brand wasn't so tainted by the SnyderVerse bull**** and the past 10 years of behind the scenes drama that have made us all so cynical about movies set in this universe.

The first suit looks like it has Adam West logo? Or am I imagining things?

Campea has said a few times that his sources at WB think this is the best DC movie they've done or something to that affect. He's added that his sources at Marvel said the same about Eternals and, while I personally liked it a lot, it wasn't the best thing they've done.

Also, I made mistake of watching Grace Randolph's reaction...

Well, it's true that most of these characters do things that defy physics, and it sure takes some CGI to realize them visually. But there are still renderings that are more, shall we say, "complete" than others. The sense of weight and precision of movement are there. The lights and detailed textures make the whole thing palpable, all that sort of things.
Here in that trailer, I find that a lot of shots just miss pretty much all of that. It looks super smooth and it moves too perfectly, it just looks programmed.

The way I see (and use) that "it looks like a video game!" formula is a way to sums up that the special effects simply misses their tasks.
Sure, deep down you know the things you're watching aren't real, but if you suddenly feel like out of the movie because the picture stops looking like it was filmed to become something too obviously out of a machine, then it's done.

A good analogy would probably be a magic trick. You know it's fake, but as long as you don't feel the mechanics, the effect will work and you'll accept to believe in it.
