I just think that there are many characters, and Webb said "This might be a 3 hour film, so let's cut the useless storylines". That being MJ and some other scene we might have seen already. Graduation scene has all the potential to be cut (maybe not entirely, but the "big spoiler" can), if MJ was cut, so will Flash; Felicity Jones and Colm Feore, if they aren't in any big roles, can be cut too.

I honestly don't have any kind of problem with this, if they think it will make this a better film, I have no problem to accept it. I also thought having MJ just for a couple scenes having such a strong lead as Emma Stone was kinda of a bad idea. I thought of it as Spider-Man 3's Gwen Stacy.

Also, maybe they totally hated Shailene's performace, and they're looking into recast the role for TASM 3.

PS: Holy ****, Jane Levy looks just like Emma Stone

I honestly do not want any scenes to be cut, but if MJ has to be cut, then so be it. I just hope pacing issues don't occur again.

I definitely don't want the Graduation scene to be trimmed down, as I think it works well with what they're doing (mostly for [BLACKOUT]Captain Stacy[/BLACKOUT])

i wonder if this means she won't be in tasm2 at all or if they'll just have one tiny little cameo of her to sort of tease something, let people know they will be introducing her properly in the next one? like maybe just that bit where she gets out of the sandwich shop during the rhino rampage, with no lines or anything. how likely would that be?

That's a good question. The quote made it sound like her scenes were cut altogether.

True but it could be for the better. You never know.

I'm afraid of a recast. Idk. The "proposed storyline" thing she said is interesting. Right when they announce TASM 4 too. I guess it means they know where this story is going, and have an idea of how it's going to end. Which is good.

Tbh, it feels good if you look at it as a whole. Let Gwen have her full run.

So was Eric Stoltz for Back to the Future. He did 4 weeks of filming until Zemeckis said "**** it! Bring me Michael J. Fox!".

Years after it, it became public that Zemeckis wanted Fox in the first place, but he couldn't get it and had to recast the role to someone. Maybe the same thing happened here: Webb wanted X, X couldn't do it because was compromised somewhere, and had to cast someone. That **** happens.

Wouldn't be the first time they changed something because of fan complaints.

Well, after thinking it over, this could be for the better. Everything happens for a reason. If she didn't add anything substantial to the movie, cutting her out may have been the best option. But it is a little upsetting.

Well that's disappointing. I'm not a fickle person, but it's odd decisions like this that make me start to question this franchise. Setting release dates for 2 more sequels while the second is still in production? Cutting MJ's role out of ASM2? I fear they might be looking too far beyond the horizon for their own good.

i think this may mean gwen may have been set to die in this film but they have put it off till 3rd

when you think that sony have made plans for 2 more films its clear sony had come to some idea with what they wanted to do, hopefully it doesn't mean there will be script problems in the final film

To be fair, when ASM was filming, they set the release date for ASM2. This is filming, and they set the release date for ASM3, in addition to ASM4. The ASM3 release date being set isn't too strange in my eyes, and the ASM4 one tells me that they don't want to cram things into three films. For all we know, they might switch around the ASM4 date later on.

I mean, they shot those cafe scenes and scenes for the Rhino sequence featuring MJ. I doubt they'd cut what might have been a substantial fx's scene. (the car drops and surrounding wreckage)

lets be fair sony were always gonna want Emma stone in TASM3 in some form or another, she was signed on for 3 films after all, so you know what if they pushed back gwens death i would not be surprised

It wasn't just one though. From my count, she had about 6 or so scenes, maybe more, including one during the Rhino scene where the area near the cafe she works at gets attacked

yeah i thought that and maybe they had a plot for her which they cut out and just filmed her stuff as an introduction, but if you read what she says... the second movie to the third. "of course I'm bummed," she says in an e-mail. "But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason... Based

now either someone misquoted her or Shailene just said it wrong, but it does sound like she may not be introduced into this film
