I don't mind MJ not appearing AS LONG as the film itself doesn't suffer. I liked the first one but it was chopped all to hell, that better not happen this time.

This. Especially considering all the characters we know interacted with her (Peter, Aunt May, Gwen, MJ's dad, Rhino (kinda), possibly Spidey in suit).

That's the thing though. When it was announced her role was "small" and not a lead, we assumed she'd have 1 or 2 scenes, but set pics proved that wrong as we saw her in multiple scenes with many characters including the Rhino sequence where we saw them filming her at her job as well as running from Rhino.

Seems like a really odd decision. I mean, how can you cut scenes meant for one movie and put them in a whole different movie and still have them make sense?

The scenes she filmed may be cut out entirely and not used for ASM3.

i wouldn't be surprised if and i'l say this again that gwen was gonna die in this film and MJ would have had a big role in TASM3 but if they put Gwens death back to the 3rd movie then introducing MJ in a small role in TASM2 would mean she would have another small role in TASM3 because gwen is still around

that has happened alot in films though, they filmed action scenes and put all the money into them and then cut them from the final film, this is probably a more cheaper cut then some films have had

Action sequences don't impact character mostly.

One or two scenes, three max, don't impact character mostly.

Characters with four or more scenes do.

There's a major difference. Character scenes impact stories, action usually doesn't and if it does have that much exposition you could have easily moved it elsewhere and that would have been handled on the script stage. For example, Zod's warriors coming to Earth to demonstrate their strength wasn't needed yet it was originally in the script.

Just hoping that the speculation on here that I've read earlier that she was in six scenes is false and it was just a quick three. Although that still makes me very very cautious about the writing overall, it would be much better than having twelve minutes about that don't impact character at all and are just "there."

And that just seals it IMO. It's the typical thing to say when you're trying to cut someone loose in a nice way.

as long as this does not affect rhinos action sequences then im fine!!!! just make sure you fill in the empty holes if any that might be left by cutting her im sure they will figure it out they have about 9 months to edit so they can figure it out

If one of the options is the reason why they cut it out -- doesn't work on screen.

That could tell us that she ended up not being the MJ they were going for and that while off screen she might have chemistry with Garfield, on screen she doesn't. It would have nothing to do with looks, as everyone keeps jumping at. Just screen presence in the spidey world miscalculation.

Basically the possibility, not saying it is, that she is the reason why it was cut.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind her being recast. If that's what's happening, then I respect Webb's decision. I do feel bad for Shailene, but I'd rather have a more comic-accurate MJ anyway.

Beats me, same reason they decided to do this I suppose ? There is nothing that CAN'T happen at this point.

I didn't fall in love with her, nor did I hate her. I was always gonna wait to see how it panned out.

I kinda fell in love with her as MJ when she was riding her little motorcycle I'll admit.

She was confirmed before Foxx but fans don't like her so Sony is scared and doesn't want her anymore. Easy. Like Peter's origin in TASM1.
