Naw, I'm thinking the chase and the Rhino scene come right after each other, there will probably be like a 5 minute gap. I think Spidey does that underpants thing, then Spidey walks off all cocky, talks to fans or maybe the cops or press, and then the Rhino will appear and he'll be pissed since Spidey made him look like a fool. I doubt we will see a major time gap between the two scenes. It definitely won't be at the end either.

Doesn't the monitor show something that deals with times square? The Rhino fight is on Park avenue.

on the news, the text on the bottom can be separate from the image above. it is a way to cover breaking news and still update viewers with other bulletins. it happens all the time. have a story about a dog being rescued, and at the bottom have a tidbit about a robbery, or vice versa.

the times square closure text is there because it is setting up the fight later in the film.

it is marc webb's way of accounting for the lack of cars going in times square come electro's entrance. there are no cars running on either side of the square (length-wise).

also, there are barriers set up to prevent said cars from entering. when stuff goes down, pedestrians rally behind said barriers.

in sum, the text underneath spider-man is not in relation to the video. otherwise, the text would mention spider-man. viewers who just tuned in would see the image of spider-man, then read the times square notice and be confused. that is unless the text underneath is for separate news stories, which happens all the time in real life.

You could be right.

there's definitely a proper gap between aleksei and mech rhino.

I would imagine that the chase sequence would have something to do with there being no cars in times square.

Aside from that, if the Rhino scene is early on in the film, it wouldn't be 5 minutes after the chase sequence…

Both scenes were literally filmed in the same exact area.

The chase sequence was mostly filmed in Rochester, NY (in case you don't know, that is upstate New York). Then they filmed a little bit by Madison Square Park and by Lincoln Center in NYC.

The Rhino fight is filmed on Park Avenue and 57th (or around there).

Good point

Previously posted this in the rhino thread:

I also agree that the chase sequence will be lengthy. There's a lot of stages to it:

prelude) the truck being stolen and attached to the big rig
1) cops chasing the car without spider-man having arrived
2) spider-man arriving and jumping from car-to-car
3) spider-man leaving the chase to quickly rescue max
4) aleksei's men shooting from the back of the armored car
5) spider-man re-arriving and taking them out (web yank from set videos)
6) aleksei detaching the truck from the armored car and going it alone
7) spider-man chasing aleksei
8) spider-man stopping the bus
9) spider-man vs. aleksei on foot

PLUS

showing up in a mech suit and duking it out?

that is the definition of overkill, and leaves too large a gap between opening action and times square.

as for both scenes being filmed in the same area (which i can't attest to, not being a new yorker), would it not make sense for rhino to return to the scene of the crime? he causes a ruckus to draw spider-man out. he wants a rematch after being humiliated earlier. it makes perfect sense for him to rampage through the same area of new york.

going back to the mech suit. how and where does he get it so quickly? we know it isn't in the back of the armored car. we know rhino is pantsed. we know that spider-man leaves the scene and hitches a ride on a cop car holding the canister.

we also know that smythe is in the film, builds robotics, and is packaged with aleksei in a toy set.

this is all sufficient evidence to conclude that the mech suit scene takes places at least a few scenes after the chase sequence.

Two parts of the final battle scene for TDKR were filmed in separate states on location (NYC and Pittsburgh), but you wouldn't be able to tell unless you knew that. It's a pretty common practice for big movie sequences to mix location and soundstage filming or multiple location filming. So it's entirely possible that no matter where they filmed with Giamatti, it was for the same extended sequence.

When do you see it?

either the 17th at 12:01 am (so the morning of april 16th in america), or one or two days before still.

depends if i get preview passes. i got them for robocop, which is columbia pictures, so it's a real possibility. the only reason i'm not sure is that MGM partnered with columbia for it, so I could have scored the passes via the former studio and not the latter.

The gap will probably involve spider-kid being bullied.

A lot of people were saying that's its a possibility.

I don't agree with ending on the Rhino, but it would make a great cliffhanger to have Spidey fling the manhole at the Rhino and the camera. But if Gwen really does get offed, I have a feeling that would clash with the tone of that potential scene a lot.

Wouldn't it be crazy if the final shot of the film is Spidey flinging the manhole right at the Rhino and the camera and the credits begin?

What a tease that would be.

Honestly I wouldn't like this film to end like that.

Me neither, but I think an ending like that could work for a different type of Spidey film that doesn't have the mood The Amazing Spider-Man 2 seems to be setting up.

If Gwen was to not die in this movie, then I'm all for the ending with manhole. But if Gwen dies in this film I highly doubt he'll be fighting rhino after.

the third trailer was classified on the 7th of febuary on the bbfc website, just FYI.

I assumed earlier? Usually when a trailer is classified, it is out within the next week or so.
