Nope. Lack of explanation wouldn't bother me one bit. It's the iconic suit - no explanation is required, IMO. I wouldn't mind if one was given, but it's not a deal breaker at all.

What I do NOT want to see is an explanation revolving around Gwen making the new suit. It's cliche (she's a woman, so she MUST know how to sew, right?) and just dumb in my mind, especially considering she and Peter are on the outs. And say what you will about Peter's promise to her dad, but I having a feeling he will try and figure out how to maintain his "civilian" relationship with her on some level while keeping his Spidey world separate. Her making a new suit would go against that.

I really don't think it's either sexist or cliche to say that Gwen could have a hand in helping Peter out with his new suit. Like I've said multiple times already, it happened in USM with MJ helping Peter patch up the costume when it got too tattered. Not because she's the woman and that's her job, but because she was being there for Peter when he was too exhausted from being Spider-Man. And we have no indication that Peter and Gwen's falling out will be at the beginning of the film either, I would actually think they would save that for the middle of the movie. So it's not unrealistic to say she would have a hand in updating the suit.

It's not sexist, it's a simple shine to the comics. And it's not cliche either since I don't think I've seen a superhero movie yet where the hero's girlfriend helped him with a new costume. Just saying.

If that were the case, then why are THESE big eyes used in the AMS/616 comics? It's because artists - just like us - have their preference in how the details are handled.

Big eyes are not a "Ultimate" only trait. Spider-Man had big eyes in ASM, SSM, WoSM, PP:SM, etc far more times and long before USM ever saw the light of day. Again, that is artistic choice. It doesn't make it a different suit. You can see how the shade of red and blue changes literally from issue to issue, from artist to artist in every comic, not to mention panel to panel, depending on the lighting conditions of the scene.

The details vary, sure - no one is arguing that they don't - but they are the classic red and blue outfit, not intended to be entirely different suits. If you merely want to say that designers looked at the Ultimate design in particular, then yes, that would be an actual discussion, but to say that it's an entirely different suit, as say, the Black Suit is a different suit, then technically, you would be wrong. And honestly, I would venture to say that the designer's paid more attention to John Romita Jr's take on the classic red and blue suit more than the Ultimate version...The eye shape of the ASM2 suit is nearly 1:1 for how JRJR draws them. JRJR is one of the only artists that draws the nozzle of the webshooter outside of the suit, and we see it in the ASM2 suit. JRJR's Spidey is tall and lanky - Webb specifically choose a tall and lanky actor.

I agree, plus, we've already seen Peter making his UPGRADED suit in TASM. He went from red ski mask and black shades to the full TASM suit. That alone shows you that Peter makes his own suit/disguise and upgrades them by himself. He didn't explain why he upgraded the suit, nor should he do it in TASM2.

You may need to get your eyes checked. Comic book characters, I believe, do not exist in Webb's universe(not exactly saying costumes don't exist like Charlie Brown or what have you ), thus no need for comic conventions where people will dress up as said comic book characters, so when someone asks a tailor to create a costume, I would assume said tailor would ask some questions. Maybe that way of thinking just goes over your head. Sorry in making ya think!
