Just because it's an old picture doesn't necessarily mean we won't see a transition still. I guess it's not the worst thing in the world if they don't show the change, but I would definitely appreciate it.

All I imagined was a scenario in which Peter just let the old suit get kind of tattered and never really gave himself time to repair, and in her spare time Gwen makes the new one with a newer look to surprise him. Simple enough.

gwen and peter seem to be in a bit of a rough place going from the set video from china town, and also gwen rocking up to peter's place only for mj to presumably tell her he isnt home (he doesnt come to the door).

so, therefore, it seems somewhat unlikely that gwen would make peter a suit if things are strained between them. unless it is a peace offering, and even then that seems really random and forced. things are awkward between them because peter is spider-man. makes little sense for gwen to add to that by giving him a new suit.

besides. the first movie established that peter is pretty great at creating a costume, whereas we don't know if gwen can sew etc. and to assume that cos she is a girl she is more skilled is to stereotype.

Sure, but you don't exactly know when that happens through the course of the film. I would think a costume transition would happen sometime near the beginning of the movie. And I'm not stereotyping Gwen as the girl who exists just to sew up his tattered clothes, I'm simply citing what happened in the comics. MJ took it on herself to fix up Peter's suit when it got too damaged usually because she wanted Peter to have one less thing to worry about. It's really not more complicated than that and I think it's just a nice nod to the USM stories.

There's a whole world of people, from professional tailors to amateur cosplayers, who make costumes all the time. You could get an outfit made easily with no one batting an eye.

I considered this might be a tiny bit of damage control, if they didn't want anyone knowing about the two suits thing this early on. But who knows?

the only way i seeing no explanation working is if the movie picks up a decent amount of time after the first, and we learn that spidey has been up to a lot of crime fighting in the interim. even then it is pretty flimsy.
