Seriously, I hate all of this talk about how TASM is a disappointment in the box office, because its not. SMH.

Exactly!!
TASM will end up grossing double that of BB but still they consider BB a better success
Ridiculous!!

People so easily compare TASM to the previous spider-man movies to belittle it not realizing that BB earned less, sold lesser tickets than all other previous Batman movies(Except B&R) despite having a larger market and Budget in its hand

Could we stop fighting over two different franchises

Its not a major box office success, but it could have been so much worse.

Only 3 movies have crossed 700 m so far this year.

But it's not good enough to make over 700 m? lolwut?

and how many reboots have made over 600 m?

One...Guess which movie.

Just because it made over $600 million doesn't mean it will make over $700 million.

Too many people are on different extremes. I either hear how much of a disappointment it is at the box office, or how great it is.

It did very well for itself considering the circumstances. A heard a lot of people saying "Say no to this reboot" and "Raimi is the true Spider-Man," "its too soon for this reboot!" etc etc. It came out right after the Avengers and shortly before TDKR. Despite inflation, and 3D ticket sales, this movie still did pretty well for itself even though its not a major success.

RIM was right....it divided fans

Did he ever say why TASM reminded him of Green Lantern?

Where it should? Dafuq do you mean? Sony is a japanese company,it would care more about Asian earnings
Yeah so it didnt meet expectations in one country and exceeded in another 2 dozen countries,I'll take that
And you are
TASM will end around 260M Domestic i.e 30M more than its budget.
BB had 55M more than its budget and the way Nolanites talk,it is considered a huge success
I dont understand how 25M makes such a big difference, especially when overseas earnings are almost 300M more than it
Studios dont care about from where the money is coming from as long it is coming(especially if it is not an American Company) which is why movies like Pirates will keep on coming

You just said it right there though. The fact is that Batman Begins did make more money than its budget domestically and that's why it gets compared as much as it gets compared that TAS-M did WAY better than BB by foreign numbers. You can't have it either way as it'll still be compared by both gross numbers.

Please educate yourself and look at how much Animated films earn
They are aimed at the kid population and earn truckloads due to that even if they are terrible
You are incredibly stupid if you thought this Ice-Age movie wasnt gonna earn money when the previous one earned close to 900M

And would Ice Age 4 have done the same thing to Avengers or TDKR? Please, don't try to talk down me. Ice Age 4 destroyed a film that should've been #1 until TDKR got into the picture. It's that fact alone that makes TAS-M's numbers and being under Ice Age 4 laughable.

Everyone would all be excited if TAS-M made so much money and Ice Age 4 DIDN'T top it but now they try to put some sense into it because of how it really happened.

Well you've given TDKR 10/10 so I've have an idea about your credibility on rating movies

Lol, because I didn't give your great TAS-M a "worthy enough" rating? I enjoy Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 better period.

Half of the movies you posted werent even Dark themed
And TASM isnt even Dark,so how has BB influenced it again?
It looks more comparable to movies like Kickass,Defendor and Iron Man than BB to me
So first explain to me what aspects did it copy from BB?
It wasnt even the first dark superhero movie

Explain what? Explain what that article said? If you can't comprehend it yourself, it won't do any good for me to explain it for ya

Just give up and agree that TAS-M was inspired by BB as your case is only going around circles.

I miss when you complimented me for not disregarding other people's opinions about things..

But ever since you began arguing with Spider-Devil you became much more blunt and didn't really regard the other people who had different opinions to you about the movie :/

Maybe pay attention to his posts and you will realize why I am so blunt. He's not someone that is very knowledgeable and way, way, way more biased than I have seen in years on here.

You answered this yourself. It's a disappointment, DOMESTICALLY, because it isn't a major box office success.

How many of these reboots coming from a $890 previous movie and have 3D as an advantage?

Casino Royal did $594M 2006.

How many of those reboots follow a series of films that drop at least 15-20% domestically after every movie regardless of quality?

Not many I'm guessing.

Webb did a good job but not an extraordinary one so why are you overrating him so much?
Whoever will be the new director,he has same chances as Webb of making a better sequel with the origin done away with

BB's less than 50% weekly drops speak more. Money talks man.

To all you guys fighting:

Seriously please Stop, is prooving a point that important?

I am still puzzled by the fact that everyone is perseverating over the domestic take as if the film was released exclusively in the United States of America. It's almost a distinctly American form of self importance. It is as if many of you are implying that this movie couldn't be performing well if it has superior box office draw in other regions of of the world. This is all absolutely ridiculous. I feel like so many of you are not only being irrational, but you are also managing to make Ameircans look very...ignorant and culturally blunt. Every time I go over seas and I have to defend being an American, it is this kind of behavior that they cite to make their argument.

Who cares about how much was made in the U.S. when the simple fact is, the math shows that this film grossed over three times its budget. Are that many of you so discontent and eager to argue that you have to find some way to rationalize disappointment in the performance at some level? If you dislike the film that is completely fine, but get over yourselves with this desperate effort to prove that this film some how made a financial misstep. This discussion is absolute willful idiocy and no one should shy away from making that known.

Money doesn't say much about how good a movie is though. It just tells us how much people spent to see it overall.

Transformers is in 5th place for the highest worldwide box office of all time. So what does money have to say about that movie?

People love them some explosions and CGI.

BO is not about quality. BO however IS a good gage of public interest. The more public interest, the more a film makes. TASM had steeper drops than BB did, which indicates less public interest, and WOM is part of public interest. The movie obviously wasn't getting WOM like a potential billion dollar series would need (say what you will about Bayformers, but people liked them enough to give them their money in droves). This film isn't flopping, but I am not seeing a billion dollar sequel in the making (though obviously a sequel will be made). It's BO MAY go up, but I see it more IM2 increasing. Possible domestic drop, with higher foreign gross.

The fact is that Batman Begins did make more money than its budget domestically
So did TASM

And would Ice Age 4 have done the same thing to Avengers or TDKR?
TASM Domestic Gross-252M
Ice Age Domestic Gross-134M
End of story, not even a comparison
And Avengers has 5 movies before it and TDKR had 2..So not even a fair comparison

It's that fact alone that makes TAS-M's numbers and being under Ice Age 4 laughable.
Refresh your maths
252>134

You established your credibility with that 10/10...

So one fellow wrote an article and the whole forum should change their opinion because of it
Makes sense

Says someone who has never touched a Spider Man comic and whose nitpicks are hilarious..'Why wasnt there an investigation' 'Why didnt Jameson get injured' 'Why did he shower' LOL

Steeper drops is due to tougher competition and the shooting and ofcourse BB being better received
