We all know, that the inevitable (first screenings and worldwide premieres) will occur during this weekend and the upcoming weeks, so this thread is all about the very first reactions, experiences and everything TASM-related from people (press, fans) that were lucky enough to be there (before the initial release) and observed Marc Webb's new movie. So, please, be kind (keep the discussions peaceful and civilized, there is no need for any fighting and absurdness) and don't forget, I repeat, don't forget to put the spoiler tags, so the other folks (who won't be able to see the film so soon) wouldn't get into trouble. Thank you!

Best wishes,

RIM.

When is the first official screening?

Also, is there a hold on when critics can publish reviews?

I'm looking forward to reviews but I am also nervous about them at the same time. Crossing fingers! As Chaseter asked, when is the first official screening?

Apparently the earliest screening was today. But it was under heavy embargo. This guy has proven himself to be legit, but refuses to give his thoughts on the film until the embargo is lifted.

I can't believe how we're already this close, that the first apparent screening was today. :wow:

It doesn't say anything about Spider-Man though. Where was this screening, and why was there an embargo?

They embargo high profile films until a week or two from the release date. If it's a super awful movie, they usually embargo until the day of.

So does that mean the members of SHH that are seeing the movie next week will have to wait to review it?

If they have to sign a piece of paper telling them the rules then yes. If they sign nothing then no.

thats not true. the avengers had a pretty long embargo and we all saw that wasnt awful. it all depends on the studio. sometimes they think critical acclaim will build hype, other times they just dont want anything at all until its out.

So we can hope that we'll be getting reviews pretty soon if that's the case

He mentioned that he saw it today at a press screening on another website, but refused to say his thoughts until the uplifted embargo. He also posted this:

Ooooh, interesting. Wish he could give a one-word answer to how the movie was. (i.e. Good, bad, meh, etc.)

Surely it'll be better than Prometheus....

It wasn't? Did we watch the same film?

Obviously not. The film I saw had tremendous acting, thrilling action, great CGI, awesome creature design, and an excellent ending. That doesn't sound like the "crap" you saw.

It....was crap?

I plan on watching it this weekend, but....I can't believe that.

Believe it. The trailers are deceiving.

There are some nice visuals and interesting concepts, but the narrative is a mess. I don't want to turn this into a Prometheus thread though.

You conveniently skipped over the story. The meat of the film.
