I wouldn't think that'd be the case just because Marc Webb and Rhys Ifans have discussed in interviews that Connors really isn't a villain by any means. He's driven to regain something that he's lost but there are other conflicts.

Okay, so if anyone can answer this without spoiling me I'd appreciate it.

One of the things I really disliked about SM2 was that Doc Ock basically had an arc that I thought should have belonged to Dr. Connors. Dr. Connors is a good guy deep down that gets cursed with a monster inside of him. Doc Ock is just a straight up evil SOB. The true anti-Peter.

The thing I'm worried about is that it seems like Dr. Connors may have now been swaped with Doc Ock's characterization, in the fact that Dr. Connors seems like he might be a villain himself. Or choose to be a villain, that he actually likes being the Lizard. This is something I really don't want to see happen. So does anybody know if this is the case?
Besides what the others already said, he'll also be present in the new game, which is set after the movie, and he'll be helping Peter in some parts.
So, no, I don't think he'll be straight up bad. When he says things like ''want to know the truth, Peter? Then come and get it'', I think it's just the Lizard self within him talking.

He said no spoilers. :whatever:

It's okay. I actually had heard that one a while ago. I also understand that it's kind of hard to not have any spoilers with what I was asking. I'm glad that they are keeping Dr. Connors with the Jekyll/Hyde approach. I really didn't want to see him be a manipulative villain from the get go.

Indeed, I was a bit worried myself, especially with his "If you want the truth Peter, come and get it" line.

So I've been actively avoiding this forum as I don't want to be spoiled even slightly for this movie, but from what I hear, there are some early reactions already surfacing. They positive or what? Without the details, what are people saying about it?

From what I have seen and what Ifans has said, Connors is a nice man, but then he is turned in the Lizard. Then he makes plan that is very similar to the Lizard's plan in the 90s animated series.

Ifans is the one confronting Connors in the holding cell on telling Peter about his parents.

I've only seen three or four and they're very positive, but they're Twitter reactions...and there's only four of them. I say wait for official reviews to get actually excited, but at the moment, spirits are high.

So I've been watching the behind the scenes videos again. Something I find ironic...people who were complaining about when Lizard's claws rip the fabric on the car seat not looking real...well, that's actually a practical effect. haha

In one of the videos you'll hear Marc Webb shout "Rip!" and the crew take a rake like looking object and rip the seat. So yeah...just thought it was kind of funny to hear people say it doesn't look realistic when in fact they actually ripped the seat.

I don't think the CGI was complete when they showed us the preview before.

It still looks bad. It must be the way the Lizard's hand moves because I still cringe at that scene. it literally looks like the Lizard levitates the leather off the seat.

EDIT: Duh. It's because they still ripped it off incorrectly. The Lizard's claw wouldn't rip it off that way. That's why it looks wrong. His claws would tear deep into the seat and tear the cushion too, not just the leather like they have it. Elementary, my dear Watson.

Wait, can I see the video you guys are talking about? I don't know if I saw that.

It's one of the B-roll ones. I honestly can't remember which one and I'm not searching through 25 minutes of footage to find it for you! :cmad:

:o

They should have used one of these (But with the appropriate number of claws) :

I don't know what you're talking about, cause if you look very closely his claws do rip the cushion as well.

I must be blind.

Not in the b-roll footage, but in the 4 minute preview. I mean, it's fairly light just because the cushion itself is white so the indentation isn't so clear.
