LOL, I can't help it. I am finding it really hard to see where RIM is coming from, considering this footage looks spectacular. Then again he has seen the final product and I haven't.

I do like the "physicality" of the new Spidey!

Those "woooaaahh" sound a lot like Maguire's

There's obviously a lot we haven't seen. Maybe the rest of it is crap. I doubt it though. That's just RIM's opinion and based on his comments, I think his was possibly disappointed by the changes to the origin and that ruined the movie for him. I could be wrong though. We'll have to see when he posts his full review.

Either way, I'm still as excited about this movie as I was before reading RIM's comments. How can I not be based on what we've seen...I can't wait. Hopefully I'll love the whole movie as much as I love the trailers and tv spots.

I could be like Prometheus all over again. The trailer being better than the actual movie.

But even then, some people still managed to like Prometheus.

I was somewhere in the middle with Prometheus. I didn't hate it and I didn't love it.

I am a bigger Spider-Man fan than Alien fan, so I feel I will prefer this. I personally think RIM did not like the origin side of the story and that will most likely be the most polarising aspect of this film. I hope. Lol.

from looking at it you can really see the spectular money shots and tell why its taken so long to work on =)

i find it hard to believe this film will suck, it may be mixed with fans but i dont think it will be because its a bad film

About that carjacker scene.

I don't think the gun thing is foreshadowing anything. Uncle Ben is dead at this point, remember when he looked at the guy's wrist and said "You're lucky, this could have been a lot worse"? He was looking for a tattoo. I saw somewhere that Spidey tracks the killer down by looking for his wrist tattoo.

Based on looking at the scene as well, I agree. Although, based on pure speculation on my part, I can see where this could potentially be troublesome in this sense:

1. In the original comic origin, Spidey is able to track down and catch the Burglar right away. If he's still looking for the guy who killed Uncle Ben well after he died, then he's essentially driven by the same motives as Batman--revenge. And as we all know, Spidey's motivation is primarily guilt, not revenge.

2. What if Spidey doesn't actually catch the murderer of his Uncle Ben in the movie? Remember, his origin is supposed to be stretched out to three films, so it's very likely that, by the time this film ends, his Uncle's murderer is still at large. Again, that might be off-putting for Spidey fans.

3. If he's still looking for his Uncle killer when he's webbing up the carjacker, then his wisecracking, sarcastic attitude that he displays in that scene doesn't really fit given his apparent motives. The attitude Spidey has in this scene should be after he has already found and apprehended his Uncle's killer.

4. If Spidey is looking for a specific tattoo that he knows belonged to his uncle's killer, then that not only tells me he doesn't know what his Uncle's killer looks like, but it also suggests--and I'm hoping I'm wrong about this--that Peter never encountered the man who killed his Uncle before he killed his uncle. Which also means there is no scene in which Spidey allows a guy to escape who then goes on to kill his Uncle Ben. And if that's the case, that would completely ruin the ironic tragedy of Uncle Ben's death and the importance of the lesson behind "with great power comes great responsibility" that's Spidey's personal creed. That, more than anything else, has to be present in Spider-Man's origin. Otherwise, it's not Spider-Man.

You guys have to remember that the reboot is exploring something different. If they kept the thing exactly as it was in the originals with the thief escaping thanks to Pete, people would be whining because it's the exact same thing and we've seen it before.

Whatever the changes are, they are for the best, because they HAVE to make the movie different, they cant use the same motifs, apart from Ben's death which is compulsory.

I think that it's a no win situation with hardcore fans, if you change it, they're not happy, if you keep it as identical, they're still not happy because it's already been seen before.

There's a set video of Peter letting a thief get away - it's heavily inspired by the Ultimate version.

I'm pretty sure he does. I saw a set video of Peter walking past a chain of stores, and this guy runs out of one, then another guy runs out to saying "Get him" or something. Or, maybe in his last words, Ben says something about the killer?

They're more or less going the Ultimate route with this series, so any changes will pretty much be hand waved by that.
