If it's like the Ultimate Universe, Peter could have stopped the guy or chased him down, but he chooses not to. He's cocky and arrogant and figures, "Why should I bother? No one ever helped me." It's not like he's caught off-guard and freezes in the moment. He deliberately chooses not to act. After all, Spider-Man could chase down any normal guy on foot.

Well I had a problem with how the Ultimate Comics handled Peter refusing to stop the thief, personally. Sure, Peter allows the guy to escape because he feels like he can't be bothered, but unlike the original origin, he's out of costume. Yet the store owner seriously expects some 15 year old kid to tackle the guy who more than likely robbed his store at gunpoint? It works in the original because since Peter is dressed as Spider-Man, people already know what Spider-Man is capable of, that he has the power to effectively stop the guy. Even the Raimi films underscored that point by having the sleazy wrestling promoter point out "You could have taken that guy apart!" But from what someone assumes his just an ordinary 15 year old kid? Why is the store owner chewing him out when there was plenty of other people on the street besides Peter?

But anyway, like I said, we don't know the full context of this apparent scene, so Peter may initially be reacting in precisely the manner you're suggesting. It's just that the way the scene was described, it sounds like Peter is walking down the street, a guy comes running out of the store and Peter pays little attention to him as he bolts by, and then another guy runs out of the store yelling "stop him!" with Peter going "What? Who? Where?"

Yeah, looks very similar in terms of movement and gloss, but it's not bad. Against a darker backdrop, like him swinging around the city at night, it will look better.

I think it looks more realistic in places. Not so much better or really far advanced but more like an actual guy.

Um really??? I don't believe that for a second :o

I don't think it's all that hard to believe. All it's saying is that, based on the lead up and advertising of the film, people are making observations about how this was not unlike the lead up and advertising to Batman Begins before that film came out, and they are assuming the end result will be just like what happened with Batman Begins. But just because they are assuming the outcome is going to be the same doesn't mean it actually will. After all, if what RIM said about the film winds up being the consensus of the critics and the general audience, then it's certainly not the next Batman Begins.

Yes I read both Amazing and Ultimate. Miles is a good character and there are some good story archs going on now. It's just sad that some people can't get past his race...

It has nothing to do with his race, it was always that he isn't Peter Parker.

Yeah, it wasn't due to his race in the long run, but before the book started comments on message board were pretty quick to make it about that.

Carjacker Clip (HD)

[YT]iyFZBdI7zlQ[/YT]

Hmm...yep, yeah. Spidey's an a**hole...

The only scene there that really screamed Spidey was when the guy was climbing out the car window and Spider-Man just kinda watches and goes, "Yeah, go out the window. There ya go. Ah, you got it!" Other than that, he was really unlikable there. Hmmm.

He's 17/18 years old, he's been bullied his whole life, and his uncle was just killed by some criminal scumbag. How would you handle it? With a smile?

he is a kid and obviously hasnt learnt responsibilty yet and if it turns out that the car thief is his uncle bens killer then peter would have lost because of his messing around

id also guess this is around the same time he shows up flash at basketball, like in his cocky times, abusing his powers

Just so people know, the behind the scenes featurette shows quite a lot of new stuff so if you're trying to go unspoiled, defiantly do not watch that. No more clips for me after watching that.

But it's awesome. Really awesome. My favourite part of it was a line taken from near the end of the Death of Spider-man, so glad they used it because I loved it in the comic.

I loved both clips. Hopefully IrishAvenger can get the game trailer too.

Just because RIM doesn't like the film doesn't mean you have to start bad mouthing every thing from now on. Stop being a sheep.

Lol we were talking about that before. What was the line?

Webb said that the carjacker scene is shortly after Peter gets his powers (the fact that it leads into the police chase clip, the one where he's swinging like a Spider-Noob should make that obvious) and because of that, he's a little "drunk" on his new powers.

Word. Much as some might lament it, this is another origin story. It's the tale of how we get from the Spider-Man we see in the carjacker clip to the responsible Spider-Man we all know and love. If he never evolves from this point, I'll be the first to lambast it, but it seems like this clip is designed to show Spidey going too far. I doubt this is how he'll be at the end of the film.

wouldnt that be before his uncle dies? i assuming it would be here
It's not.

He checks the carjacker's wrist because he's looking for a tattoo. Uncle Ben's killer had a wrist tattoo.

And if you're avoiding spoilers, just trust me on this one.

oh come one guys.

"if you want to steal cars don't dress like a car thief"

"Seriously you think I'm a cop? in a red and blue tight suit?"

" you found my weakness...small knives"

" I don't think you want to know what's in them"

"So I do 80% of your job, and that, THATS how you repay me?!"

Sounds down right spidey to me.

Love the scene and the behind the scenes!

Very excited for the film!

It definitely looks like a different take, especially Peter himself, but i'm cool with it. I like it that they have kept that he is a bit of an outcast but isn't nerdy in the typical sense like he was portrayed before.

He has a bit of an attitude, and I do believe that adds some realism, which I ALWAYS enjoy.

It is BLATANTLY gonna put some people off though, especially some of the older fans!
