'Spider-Man' Tracking to Swing Past $125 Million Over July 4th Holiday

The superhero reboot, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, is generating heat among males of all ages and decent interest among younger females. Pre-release tracking is impressive for the superhero reboot, suggesting a six-day opening of $125 million or more, the best showing of any summer film outside of box office goliath The Avengers. Starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, Amazing Spider-Man opens in theaters on July 3 (a Tuesday) yet tracking is already pacing ahead of titles opening before then, with total awareness strong across every demographic. When it comes to definite interest, males of all ages appear eager to turn out to see director Marc Webb's take on the classic Marvel character.

This is a really good news. It's a first tracking report, which means numbers will probably go up. And not to mention tracking reports have been underestimating big films since March. All in all, good news.

Honestly not surprised. It's freaking Spider-Man.

Reboot or sequel to Raimi, this movie was destined to have a solid opening weekend.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that honestly. Of course you need to figure in it is the holiday weekend and all and movies within this time frame do pretty well, but good for Spidey!

nice to know its tracking well. (Not that we wouldn't have known, its always a relief to hear it, and then blow the estimates out the water :D)

If the reviews continue to be positive it'll be in good shape.

No never got to see the rough cut.
They did get it rescheduled and I was getting off a 12 hour shift night before and had another that night, on the day they had finally shown the Rough cut to the Walmart people. I'm sure I'll see the preview the week it opens tho lol.

Ah I see. Well hope you enjoy the movie when you do get to see it! :yay:

I noted this in the Viral Marketing thread, but I'll repost here. It's not really a big deal, just interesting. Apparently, TASM takes place in 2014. Today's viral marketing drop contained memos from Richard Parker dated 1999. And in a clip released today, Dr. Ratha says, "Fifteen years ago," in reference to Richard Parker's work. I guess this explains why OsCorp is a little more advanced than anything that exists today.

I expect serums that help people grow limbs and crazy movable hologram things in the next 2 years.

Yeah. It being successful opening week/weekend was almost a given due to the Spider-Man brand name.

However if it starts dropping dramatically in terms of reception then it'll do Wolverine money. If it stays in the high 80's and manages to go up to the lower 90's then it will probably do quite well through some very positive WOM.

But then you'll only have it for five minutes. Then you'll explode in a pumpkin bomb :cwink:
The same one that ripped up spider-man's mask a little, and gave Harry a couple scars on his face? Sounds like a plan.

I seriously believe that becoming like Spider-Man is not far-fetched. Cross-species stuff is already happening, (in the UK it seems), but I read that they destroyed the stuff in embryo state.

I dont see why, if combining Spider-DNA and human-DNA, you couldnt have something similar, but of course, you would have the physical appearance of both :D

So excited to see what we will be able to do, regrowing limbs already exists, it's this powder, I don't remember the name of it, stimulates the cells, and makes it regrow, they regrew fingers, arms, legs.

The thing is, you can regrow limbs, but it's an ability that ceases to work at around 6 months old or something, what the powder does is activate the "memory", and tell the cells to regrow the whole thing, tissues, veins, etc, regrow.

GA still remember the old Parker it seems

Interesting indeed. To the bold: not neccesarily, as think about it, a baby's DNA genes is that of a combination of their Mother's and Father's, but the kid could grow up to look more like one or the other or neither. Also I assume if they mix the genes with an already fully grown human than physical apearance would be one of the last and least likely symtoms to occur with the way our body works.

Sorry DNA splicing is an interesting subject to me. To think we could enhance our own bodies, to become healthier and stronger, will happen not long down the line with the advancements of treatments today. :woot:

So Spidey?

and why shouldn't they? There's nothing wrong with his take on the character, and like it or not, some will prefer him over Andrew. Personal opinion I'm afraid. Besides from the results more people are googling Garfield anyway.

Sounds awesome! But I'll stick to the old fashioned way. Ya know, going to a science exhibit, getting bit by a radioactive spider :o
