You guys think free flow would work for the likes of Thor?
cherokeesam said:And I'd appreciate if you'd lay off the "yahoo" personal insults. Not that I give a **** about your opinion of me at all, but if you want this to devolve into a 6th-grader flamewar, good luck....I refuse to stoop to your level of immaturity.
So how about the pros and cons. What titles would benefit from taking ideas from the Rocksteady formula, if any?
Come on guys, let's keep this convo going otherwise we'll be back to tedious Spidey character wishlists, which we only do every single other time theres a Spidey game announced :P
"From this point out...." In other words, in YOUR speculative mind.
I'm not saying that future superhero games *won't* try to copy the Arkham formula sometime in the future, but they haven't *yet.* And again, Asylum's already 2 years old, and it's had zero influence on the development of superhero games since its release.
So no....the Arkham games have definitely NOT defined a genre. Yet.

Yeah, and the whole concept of Spider-Man Edge of Time being in the one location rather than free roam was clearly inspired in some way by the Arkham Asylum limited environment sandbox.
Too late there, I think. If you want to make a statement like that and still be taken seriously, I suggest you not resorting to such a hostile attitude yourself. There's two sides to every flamewar, and swearing doesn't help wither. Cool your jets and let's have an intelligent discussion about this, because it's a good subject. A lot of people love the Batman games and a lot of people do indeed think it is genre defining, as in they believe other superhero games should follow suit, but obviously other people DON'T feel this way.

The whole combat in the Captain America game is basically a clone of the Arkham one.
The Noir levels in SD are totally taken from Arkham Asylum. SD as a whole took alot of inspiration from Arkham Asylum it seems, with the trophies and by having several famous cartoon voice actors.
are you really trying to say Spiderman and the X-men was decent? That game was god awfulI can name MORE than those you listed:
Spider-Man: The Arcade Game
Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage (SNES/SEGA)
Spider-Man VS. The Kingpin (SEGA)
Spider-Man and the X-Men (SNES)
And let's not forget Spider-Man: Enter Electro, the follow-up to the 2000 release of Spider-Man on both N64 and PS1.
What was most exciting about the Scarecrow stuff, I think, was that you experienced it as a player, where most other games would relegate anything interesting like that to just another pre-rendered cutscene or something. When things like that (like the bugs crawling on the wall, or the morgue room moving) happen while you're still in control, it creates this feeling that ANYTHING could happen, which is really exciting for a gamer.
Mysterio is the perfect villain for that kind of stuff
That would be fantastic, IMO. Daredevil needs his due.Daredevil.
Beyond the shadow of a doubt.
I'd love to see a dark, atmospheric Daredevil game that uses an Arkham system; and maybe even expands upon it, by doing something to simulate Matt's radar senses.

Yeah I agree! And, as you said, it doesn't need to be holographic and all that like Scarecrow. I can see other Spidey villains making for some surprises and changes in gameplay. Chameleon is another perfect one for that I think. Kraven and Green Goblin are others.
EDIT: This post was a response to dtud
Very true.I think a video game appearance by Green Goblin (in a Spider-Man game, so the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games don't count) is long overdue.
I think it's ridiculous how little love Green Goblin gets in games.
He would be so epic to battle!

Dude, don't overuse punctuation, it's seriously annoying to read your posts. I mean the CHARACTER trophies, which Spider-Man 2 DIDN'T have if I remember correctly, and SD had them just after Arkham Asylum. Also, have you played SD? Because you can easily see that the stealth in the Noir dimension is heavily inspired by that.
i've played both... and nothing seems that different than majority of stealth games coming before them.
