The Avengers will be killed off in the first scene and the movie will be about the Guardians of the Galaxy teaming up with Spider-Man and the X-Men. Produced by Christopher Nolan

You heard it here first
Don't forget the Yoda cameo :o

Yes! Yoda, Capt. Kirk, James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones! The NEW NEW NEW Avengers!!!

Slow news day apparently. :p

At this point, we don't know anything about the sequel to Marvel's The Avengers. We know that Joss Whedon has completed an outline for the film and should be done with the script very soon, but that's really it. No casting has been officially announced, but one would imagine that for the sequel, the roster of The Avengers will expand. What heroes could join and who will portray them remains to be seen, but some people are already trying to get in on it.

On his official Facebook page, actor Jean-Claude Van Damme was reminiscing about having met Stan Lee in the '90s and claims he's heard Thor himself Chris Hemsworth wants Van Damme to join them in the sequel (we're not sure where he heard that). While Van Damme says he's a big fan of the Silver Surfer (who is owned by 20th Century Fox, sorry Jean-Claude), he doesn't say who he'd want to play in the sequel.

No, sorry... we don't need Avengers 2 becoming the latest Van Damme movie.

The only person I think he could play is Namor. But we don't need a kick boxing Prince of Atlantis.

Maybe he'd settle for a Cap sequel.

In before the pretentious *****es who think Avengers 2 should only have Academy Award winners in the cast. Van Damme played a better villain than Tom Hiddleston by a mile last year.

What about him as Baron Zemo?

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to having Van Damme in the MCU in some capacity. I think he is a better actor than he is given credit for. He would actually be perfect for Batroc as the enforcer for Ulysses Klaw in Ant-Man.

He is not a better actor than Hiddleston. Let's be real.

JCVD would be a great mo-cap actor for a kicking sim game.

Are we talking about the cringefest that was Expendables 2? I'm not pretentious, I mean I'm one of the few not overreacting to Batista being cast as Drax, but Van Damme certainly did not play a better villain than Hiddleston last year.

I like JCVD. He's not the most brilliant actor on the block, but he's fun to watch on screen. I loved his reality show that was on Showtime.

Don't get me wrong--Bloodsport is one of my all-time favorite things to watch. I just can't see him as an MCU villain.

You couldn't see him as Batroc? I mean that is almost perfect casting right there.

JCVD as Batroc is actually a really cool idea. It's not like Batroc is a super serious villain anyway, let the man have some fun Marvel!

20 years ago, I was a huge collector of the Marvel Masterpieces trading cards. I don't know how, but I was missing a card and just never got around to getting it until recently. Today, I finally obtained it to complete the set from that year:

I can! Hopefully, Marvel makes it so.

So I'm reading trivia on The Avengers on IMDB and it made a speculation that I don't think I've seen mentioned before. Since Loki got his staff from the Chituri who in turn work for the Mad Titan what if his staff is powered by the Mind Gem being why he's able to control people's minds. It could be another thing setting up Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet.

I think it's presumed it was the Mind Gem.

That's the thing. In all the speculation about the Thanos and the IG I've never seen any one mention the gem in Loki's staff being the Mind Gem. And no one from Marvel has come out and outright said that it is the Mind Gem.

I've seen a lot of speculation about the Mind Gem in the staff long before the movie actually opened, and we were just looking at screenshots and wondering.

It makes sense, of course; but it's hard to reconcile with the fact that the IG was shown to be in Odin's Treasury in Thor 1. Some people try to dismiss the IG since it only shows up in a deleted scene and the art-book for the movie; but if it *is* "canon," then the IG is already in existence and in Odin's possession, so that couldn't have been the Mind Gem in Loki's staff.

Deleted scenes aren't canon. We shouldn't have to go through all the deleted scenes that conflict with the established canon of films, even in the MCU, in order to come to that conclusion. The Mind Gem in the staff makes perfect sense, and is relatively brilliant as a set up for Thanos.

Y'know... now that I see that... I wonder if the MCU is sneaking all the gems into all the films. That'd be pretty impressive.
