Thanks I did in the last few posts. I don't mind spoilers that much. It makes me really want to see this film.

From what I read, everything is well paced, even Maria Hill and Rhodes get some decent time - mostly because in the scenes everyone is together so it lends itself to equal screentime in a way...

Did Rhodey get to suit up.

General question. How did the scepter wind up in Strucker's hands after Avengers 1?

@Illegal Seafood: does the novel mention anything about QS/SW motivation like why they decided to go to Ultron or be be experimented on by Strucker etc because there are reports saying they don't like America or Tony Stark?

They explain to Ultron when they first meet them that their parents were killed by a Stark missile. A second missile landed in their room but never went off. They were trapped in their room for two days staring at a missile with the name Stark on it, waiting for it to go off or for them to be rescued.

Maria Hill also tells CA that the twins don't like America and volunteered themselves to Strucker to be experimented on.

Cap makes a remark to Hill sarcastically referencing himself and how they must be monsters to volunteer themselves to be experimented on to protect their country.

@Illegal Seafood: Also, what is the party at Avengers tower for? Celebrating HYDRA base takedown? Because it seems there are a lot of people at the party like Dr Cho and Rhodes and is there anything about Thor breaking up with Jane in the novel?

No. After the Hydra raid, they go and steal food with their powers for the people in Sokovia (a very poor nation) and are told by a kid on the street that an Iron Man wants to see them in the castle, because IM has his Iron Legion patrolling the streets. When they get there, it's Ultron.

During the Hydra raid, the twins escape their cells and start causing havoc. QS knocks Hawkeye over and he gets shot.

SW whispers into Cap and IM's ears causing them to lose track of time/see flashbacks/etc. No specific mention of a Thanos vision here though.

The cool part was SW let's IM take the scepter. QS asks her why she did that and she replies "Because he needs it" basically showing how she saw he would create Ultron with it.

It was very cool

The novel skipped over describing the visions the Avengers receive from SW but it was interesting to note that Tony

seems to gets his vision very early in the movie, during the opening battle (and he notably doesn't get hit by SW during the later fight where she gets Thor, Steve, Nat and Bruce). And based on things he later says to defend himself about the Ultron program it seems his SW vision is what really pushed him to use the scepter and create/finalize the Ultron AI.

I think it was for taking down Hydra.

And apparently thor and Jane are together. He and tony get into an argument over which gf is more important, pepper or Jane.

He was sent off after the party and Tony gives him a new encoding to protect him in case Ultron tries to hack his suit. He may or may not have been suited up I don't remember.

And I'm not sure. He was probably in shield somehow.

Mmm I always thought the SW mind tricks were after the twins joined up with Ultron. Guess I got the order wrong. They got mindblown pretty early in the movie.

Dr Cho is a friend of Stark and Banner who is into genetics. She helps heel Hawkeye after the first battle.

Ultron's dialogue is awesome. A mix of everything. Some funny, some sarcastic, some insightful, some plain evil.

Sounds great! I hope the film also retains the fun pop culture references that Whedon likes to write like 'Legolas', 'Galaga', 'Shakespeare in the Park', calling Thor 'Point Break' etc

Lol not really from what I remember of the book although I wouldn't rule it out since the book only covers 1/3 of the movie.

Wakanda doesn't get mentioned in the book and Tony specifically names South Africa as the place where vibranium is found... which is odd so I suspect that it's different in the movie version of this conversation.
Klaue doesn't mention anything BP related, either. The twins show up in his office (in one of those rusted, beached ships we see in the trailers) and he's unfazed by their powers, says he's used to the world being crazy, but Ultron seems to rattle him a bit. They have a fairly peaceful business transaction where Ultron procures the vibranium from Klaue until Klaue makes the mistake of pointing out that Ultron speaks like Tony Stark (Tony and Klaue have crossed paths before). That enrages Ultron and he injures Klaue but not fatally... And then this is when the Avengers show up so Klaue apparently escapes from this intact.

Strucker tried to blow himself up with a grenade when Steve found him in the base but Steve knocked the grenade away before he could do it. Later when they're back at Avengers Tower and Maria's giving Steve updates (that scene we've seen in featurettes) she mentions NATO has custody of Strucker. Then after Ultron gets loose we find out he's killed Strucker and that tips off the team that maybe Strucker knew something that Ultron didn't want the Avengers to know. That leads them to Klaue who was one of Strucker's contacts.

The Age of Ultron prequel comic explains it. A disgruntled SHIELD agent was researching it with a colleague after the events of the first movie. Strucker then offered the disgruntled agent a chance to join HYDRA, and prove his loyalty he murdered his coworker and sent the scepter to Strucker's research facility in Sokovia.
