Just saw a TV spot during the NBA playoffs with Iron Man and War Machine flying together. Gives me hope they'll be doing damage as a duo.

I'd love to see him win something someday. I really think hardly any comic performances are even within 100mph of being Oscar level, and on top of that you have the bias against them.

Well, The Dark Knight opened that door with Heath Ledger's Joker. And I agree, I'd love to see Renner win one day. He's such a versatile actor that can do anything (drama, action, comedy, spoofs, song and dance) shame he and the likes of Leo DiCaprio and Gary Oldman keep getting snubbed for all of their very different performances while Daniel Day Lewis keeps winning for pretty much the same OTT and over dramatic character time and time again.

I was watching the Warriors/Pelicans today on ABC and was surprised to not see one, although I did leave the room a couple times and couldn't hear if there was one while I was gone.

Yeah that's probably the only performance that deserved it and I would love to think he would have won regardless of his death. TDK was famously snubbed though for even a Best Picture nomination in a year where it should have got one and as a result the Best Picture nominations were extended from 5 to 10 films from the year afterwards. As for DiCaprio I think he has virtually won an Oscar now. If he keeps acting for the rest of his natural career no way he doesn't get one. Even for lesser roles, I think the Academy will vote him in on one as a reward for his past work (like Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman!). I can see Renner picking up something for Best Supporting Actor more so than Best Actor. He's a great ensemble guy.

Wow was hoping for this!

And that's the problem, I'm not watching Avengers for some romance plot that's going to be taking over so much screen time that could be used for better stuff. I watch these movies for the fights and spectacle, not the girly girl BS.
Romance isn't girly. Obviously this movie is FILLED with action. I don't mind seeing some romance stuff.

speaking as a, uh, "girly girl," lemme just say that women watch superhero flicks for the fights and spectacle just as much as you do :cwink:

Romance without character development isn't a good look IMO. I think it all should serve a similar function: to drive character and plot forward. If it doesn't, it has no business being in the movie.

That said, I'm actually interested in Bruce/Natasha... I loved their connection in the first movie. If it works for both characters in context of this film, then YAY!!

Also, apologies to Mr. Evans, but CHARLIE COX HAS MY HEART RIGHT NOW!!! GUH... SO MUCH LOVE!

If they were going to honor a performance in a MCU superhero film it would have been RDJ as Iron Man in 2008 but then they gave the superhero slot to Ledger and RDJ was nominated instead for Tropic Of Thunder.

As a girl myself, I'm fine with the romance between Bruce and Natasha as long as it adds to their characters. When romance plotlines are done well, more people view them as character-building. If the romance is just out-of-the-blue with no development or explanation, then yeah, that's a problem.

If there's no explanation on the coupling, then it can easily be interpreted as "Natasha is in love with Bruce because he's the only thing that scares her, because him turning into the Hulk is the only situation she can't talk her way out of, so he's ~*different from the rest*~." If THAT'S the case, then I'm going to have some big problems with this couple, because that's pretty lame.

Its funny here seeing people complaining saying they want to see nothing but action in the movie when on another forum I'm on people are complaining because apparently the movie has too many action scenes and apparently the film is action scene after action scene . You can't please everyone.

I feel like I'm cheating on Chris right now, not going to lie! :woot:

I am confident that he will win my love back though. :ilv:

For now... HALLOOOOOOO MR. MURDOCK!
Better hope he doesn't find out or he'll get too depressed before filming CW in a couple weeks. No one wants to see mopey CA on film.

If I can get a Beardy Cap out of it, he can mope away. :sly:

Spending all that time chasing Bucky and fighting Tony... How in the world does a man find time to shave? That's the most unrealistic thing about the MCU, to be quite honest.

Cap can shave on the go with those nifty electric shavers, you know. :sly:

I always thought Steve couldn't grow a beard due to the effects of the serum. As in, he couldn't grow a beard as Skinny!Steve and the serum made that permanent.

It's a flimsy theory, I know, but since we never see stubble on Cap it works for me :funny:

He uses those new, fancy Gillette Avenger razors.

Romance without character development isn't a good look IMO. I think it all should serve a similar function: to drive character and plot forward. If it doesn't, it has no business being in the movie.

But the spoilers about how this drives forward the two characters isn't great. Banners character does not move forward (and even regresses) and apart from his contribution to Ultron his entire arc revolves around Widow!

Peggy didn't dominate Cap 1, and Pepper and Tony have been developed over three movies. Neither of these romances dominated the stories, just complimented them.

There is simply insufficient time for a development like this in an ensemble movie and this has been reflected in the reviews. Romance and friendships are important, but this one seems to be very misguided.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Romance doesn't suit superhero movies.
Just think of the top Superhero movies like The Dark Knight, Avengers , SM2, X2 , Days of future past, TWS, GOTG , IM1, and only one of them (SM2) or maybe IM1 to a little extent had romance, none of the others had

Romance is the reason Sony failed with the Amazing series, to much attention on the love story and no attention on the villains and other supporting characters
