Ugh...Too much of the "no film is perfect but don't worry!..." with these reactions lately. I will worry, unfortunately.

I'm not the least bit worried. With all the known MCU fans that have seen it and say they love it this seems just as safe of a bet as it did from the trailers.

something else that no one has really talked about- Stans cameo. Does he have one? I hope so. I always forget about it and love the surprise when it happens.

Where did you get these? I can't wait to see the BTS video of Spader crashing the Avengers party and walking like a broken puppet.:sly:

speaking as a, uh, "girly girl," lemme just say that women watch superhero flicks for the fights and spectacle just as much as you do :cwink:

I know, I'm a girl myself! I just hate the idea that some big studio head feels like they have to stick in a romance plot to intrigue the ladies to go see their action fests, when all it really takes is maybe one or two shots of either Chris Hems or Chris E shirtless. :oldrazz:

If they were going to honor a performance in a MCU superhero film it would have been RDJ as Iron Man in 2008 but then they gave the superhero slot to Ledger and RDJ was nominated instead for Tropic Of Thunder.

Which he should have been nominated for, because that was a ballsy role to take on. I can't think of anyone else to take on that role and be blasted by the PC police.

But then again, with Ledger, I heard the oscars more or less gave him the award because they snubbed him for Brokeback Mountain.

As a girl myself, I'm fine with the romance between Bruce and Natasha as long as it adds to their characters. When romance plotlines are done well, more people view them as character-building. If the romance is just out-of-the-blue with no development or explanation, then yeah, that's a problem.

If there's no explanation on the coupling, then it can easily be interpreted as "Natasha is in love with Bruce because he's the only thing that scares her, because him turning into the Hulk is the only situation she can't talk her way out of, so he's ~*different from the rest*~." If THAT'S the case, then I'm going to have some big problems with this couple, because that's pretty lame.

Actually, this whole Natasha/Bruce romance screams to me the comic book nerds fantasy that the hot, gorgeous woman falls for the nerdy, not as good looking as his other counterparts schtick. Maybe I'll let it go if they let Cap fall in love with a fat chick, which is highly unlikely to ever happen.

Its funny here seeing people complaining saying they want to see nothing but action in the movie when on another forum I'm on people are complaining because apparently the movie has too many action scenes and apparently the film is action scene after action scene . You can't please everyone.

I don't mind the downtimes in these films, it does add to character development and I do like to see what the heroes do when they are not running for thier lives, I just don't care much for romance plots because I just don't. I feel that stuff drags a movie down. I didn't like it in Thor, didn't care for it in any of the Spider-Man flicks, didn't care for it in the LOTR films, not in the Batman or Super-Man flicks.

On the other hand, The Ironman movies were decent enough, and didn't detract from the overall story, and the other movie I can think of that I actually liked the romance part would probably have to be The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. Maybe True Lies as well, and the first Bourne Identity movie.

Mark Ruffalo isn't the male equivalent to a fat chick though. :oldrazz:

I guess they could go for the "Hot chick loves nerdy guy" thing, but it's definitely not a case where the hot chick goes for the ugly or "homely" guy.

Mark Ruffalo is anything but ugly. I know a lot of women who find him to be very attractive (I'm more of a Chris Evans gal, but I can see the appeal with Ruffalo). I personally think he's cute. :)

Depends on your definition of a fat chick. Don't forget, in Hollywood, if the girl is no smaller than a size 2, she's fat! Would it kill them to stick in someone that is similar to America Ferrera, who is gorgeous, but not a stick either?

I never said he was ugly, I just said he was not as hot as his counterparts. I too find Mark Ruffalo to be "cute". I liked him since I first saw him in The Last Castle. But, the fact remains this whole thing in AOU screams of nerd boy Joss Whedon living out his fantasy.

i totally disagree

Mark is the coolest dude. Great actor. Im glad theyre giving him a love interest in AOU atm. I just hope I feel the same when Im done watching it.

Spitfire: I thought there was a spark of something between em. I didnt say that for no reason. ??? And Tony and Bruce had the Science Bro thing goin on. Women and Men have different ways of showing their feelings usually.

Im not upset about Betty being replaced by Widow at all. Peoples lives arent set in stone even in movies. Their relationship will either seem believable/cool or it wont. I have to see the movie before I can judge that.

I agree with this, it's why I wished they would apply this way of thinking with the whole Thor/Jane thing. I'm simply not feeling any sort of chemistry whatsoever between those two, so I just wished they would dump the Jane character and change the story up somewhat.

The Jane/Thor relationship was meh to me. If its over now, Im glad. Im hoping Joss was able to write a much better romantic thread for B n N.

my problem with Jane is that Natalie Portman is so not here for it, and it shows in her acting

Yep Portman definitely treated the role like it was beneath her or she didnt take it that seriously. Thats mainly why I didnt like her work in those movies at all.

Maybe, but if I'm going to go by what he's done with past work, like in Buffy or Firefly, I don't have much faith. I really didn't care for the romance crap in those show either. And this is just my opinion.

She was the same in the Star Wars flicks as well. I wish she brought in the spit and fire she had going for her in Leon, then maybe I would have felt different. It's probably why I like Sif and Darcy more, they actually have a personality, the latter may be annoying, but at least she gets a reaction out of us, unlike plain Jane.

For me, this discussion of criticism is sterile. I think people now are talking about what they wanted to see in the sequel instead of evaluating what they are seeing.

That happened to me with the TWS. I began to compare it with my dream movie and of course it didn't match my illusion. Now, I try to evaluate it for what it is. And I've reached the conclusion that it has its positives and negatives.

The worst thing you can do in super hero films is not totally sell/own your character. Its actually something you need to really do maybe even moreso than with regular non fantasy genre roles.

I find Bruce more attractive than Hawkeye or Thor. Attraction really is relative.

Mark is cute, but I see the typical hot girl fancies the nerdy science guy comparison. Nothing to do with looks, more about the typical perception of the nerdy Banner type character. I agree that a character like Cap would never be paired with the nerdy female equivalent (again nothing to do with looks just the type of ladies superheroes are paired with - the only female scientist to date is beautiful and not nerdy (Jane Foster).

F. And I've reached the conclusion that it has its positives and negatives.

This is true. One bad plot line may spoil 5% of the movie for someone and they shouldn't be accused of nitpicking, offering unnecessary criticism etc. It also doesn't mean they didn't enjoy/love the other 95% of the movie.
