OK. This is for all of you who are worried about reviews, marketing, and so on. I'm calling it now. $675M (US) and $1.2B (OS) for a total of $1.875B. Passes Titanic in both categories (initial release) and puts Avengers at # 2 and 3 all-time in US (not counting re-releases). I think it's going to be HUGE in southeast Asia.
.

That's all but certain at this point. You should see the displays and the advertisement crusade in Hong Kong; it's nothing short of ridiculous (in a good way).

Are you in Hong Kong? Sounds great. Wish there was more here (UK).

I've noticed several members asking for links to the French and German reviews. this is one I found (french) simply by googling the movie's French title. No numerical rating given but it is very much a good review.

So far it seems to me the concensus is that it is a very good movie, but just slightly not as good as The Avengers. It only makes me curious what those reviews would be like if there was no first movie to compare this one with.

And that just doesn't cut it! It has to be better, otherwise it's a step down. I don't give a flyin' *F* if Ultron isn't as "FUNNY" as the first (I don't care), as long as it delivers better in other departments. I don't even care for over the top action. I wanna see deeper relationships, characterizations, a more serious feel, higher stakes and a deeper story - thanks. And you know what. Avengers 1 really isn't THAT hard to beat, or match. CAP-A:TWS, for me, is ten times the movie that Avengers 1 is (and I DO truly dig The Avengers, don't get me wrong!)

Besides, when Empire Strikes Bcck came out in the old days, many reviews stated that the magic had gone out and that it wasn't as good as A New Hope... Well, that was BS wasn't it. ESB was incredibly much better and deeper than ANH... I hope that it's the same with the Avengers 2.

Not anymore, but the SO is, and she's sent me several photos. The enthusiasm over there is infectious though; saw IM 3 and Guardians there, and at the time there was a life sized Mk 42 statue on display in one of the malls. Slightly unrelated, but there was also a huge (at least 20 ft tall) RX-78 Gundam (along with a Zaku) outside of the Times Square mall in Causeway Bay.

opinions vary. I love the first Avengers. To me it works so well on so many levels its amazing. Its one of the most entertaining movies I have ever seen. I have no doubt that AOS will match or surpass it in my eyes.

There are as many reviews saying its better than Avengers as there are saying its not that good but still fun, even more perhaps. You might need to remember also that movies fare very differently depending on the country they are reviewed in. The same movie might get bad reviews in one country and very good in another, so be cautious. The diferences are not necesarily that extreme, but each culture has a point of view and perhaps fixates on different things. Each country also has theyre own prejudice and history with genres. The internet makes the world look small, but sometimes we tend to forget that its actually quite big.

France has been one of the toughest countries with both Serenity and Avengers. The reviews were good, but far more subdued and critical than in other countries. If there has been some consensus for now both in france and germany is that it is a very busy movie with a lot of plot, characters and super fast pace. Some say it works perfectly despite the fact it shouldnt, others think its overambition is a defect.

IM2 above TDKR. No chance in hell, not by a long shot!

The DareDevil series better than the entire Dark Knight Trilogy? Please, dude, give me a break! DareDevil is one_awesome_show, I think so too. But it's still, at the end of the day, no way near the quality and beauty of Nolans Batman trilogy, so that's truly laughable to me. And DD, while doing it well in it's own way, clearly feeds off of The Dark Knight. It's obvious.

Your opinion is your opinion, and you're entitled to it. I just have to state my opinion on your opinion - and I don't agree in the slightest of your post. I think it's a directly outragous one.

the fighting in TDK trilogy looks like it was coordinated by a blind person......the irony

Good post.

I think whether or not AoU is good doesn't depend on its "fun" factor. I was blown away the first time I saw Avengers - I went to see it 4 times in theaters - and I had a lot of fun, but as time wore on, it lost a lot of its luster. It's still a great movie, but couldn't live up after repeated viewings, imo.
I'm not necessarily counting on it based on some things I've read, but I hope AoU has more staying power in its supposed depth and "darkness."

I saw it 4 times in the theater as well. First time I have ever done that. But for me Avengers has stood up with multiple viewings for me. I truly love that movie big time. I hope it has the same staying power too.

Wow they're really getting into it over there

I've been before but don't think any big films were coming out at the time.

I agree with you overall. But I don't think that that other opinion is so outrageous. I think its comparing what shouldn't be compared like a movie and a tv series. They're just different things. But I do think that it is one of the great Marvel properties and one great tv series. It's just phenomenal. I put up there with breaking bad.

Edit: Also, daredevil is one of darker things that has ever come out of the MCU. By the way, kudos to Drew Goddard. Imo, he's the one that should be directing Avengers Infinity Wars.

I'm 110% with you on that one, bro.

I resaw Avengers tonight with the girlfriend, prepping for AoU come this thursday, and the stuff I like the most is when the characters are having actual discussions. That's the stuff I dug the most, when seeing it now... I want AoU to go heavy on stuff like that!

What is Ultron holding in one of those pics?

Skipping all the rest because ...

Daredevil's arc and story in this show is based primarily on the Mark Miller run of the early 1980s. Later Miller went to DC and re-invented/re-rejuvenated Batman using the same tone and similar story elements for The Dark Knight Returns and Year One. So it's not a coincidence they're similar and it has nothing to do with Daredevil feeding off the Dark Knight.

24h in which timezone?
In 24 hours time (from when he posted) so all zones lol. Once the embargo is up, it's up worldwide. Once a review is added to RT it's there for everyone whether it's evening, afternoon or night where you are at the time. :)
