Its in the theaters for a few months, but therell be a lifetime to go back to it. The more crammed in might actually be better in the long run. Remember how you felt after watching Pulp Fiction or the Matrix for the first time? Now you know those worlds so well and love em.

He thinks too much happens too quickly for its own good and he came out with an overdose of film. Too busy. That criticism, wheter one agrees with it or not, will come forth many more times. He also tought Ultron was too human.

Well...yeah. :oldrazz:

An epic interview with Joss Whedon

ULTRON being too human: Hes an advanced AI, like JARVIS but better, smarter. They both have human personalities and voices. Hes actually not a robot, hes an AI inside a robot. If he was just a programmed robot he wouldnt be able to do all the human things he does. People still dont get that?

Hey, i was just translating, he said it, not me. :halo:

The "too human" complaint I believe to be a valid one. I think ultimately you should still get the sense that this is an A.I.

What was wrong with EMH Ultron ? You could still tell it was an A.I. Albeit a highly advanced one.

Just saying, imagine if the T1000 was more human and all chatty and stuff, and thats one of the best villains ever. And I also hear Ultron takes after Tony Stark, like one of those wasn't enough.

I get the complaint, but I'll have to see for myself tomorrow.

He took after Hank Pym who has a slightly blander personality than MCU Stark. Hence Ultron seemed more robotic there.

I still dont buy the complaint w/ ULTRON being too human. They dont get it. He starts out as an AI like JARVIS. Remember JARVIS in Iron Man? It was just Paul Bettany talking to RDJ basically. The same applies to James Spader as Ultron. The difference being hes even smarter than Jarvis since he becomes self aware and he puts himself inside a robotic body with humanistic features.

We're talking live action, not the comics. Joss made ULTRON much more interesting than the comic book version which was just a crazy robot that wanted to kill kill kill. That version wouldve been totally dull and cliche. Just another Terminator but in the MCU.

We should be getting an absolute flood of reviews in a few hours time!

I can't get or not get that complaint because I haven't viewed the film.

It's hard to say whether or not being too humanlike is a problem or not. It's going to depend. I can see it working if we see an evolution in Ultron. That might be even cool as long as he doesn't say things like "Y'know I was, like, walking down the street the other day and, like, this guy Captain America comes up to me and he's all, like, hey, what're you doing? So I'm like, who are you anyway? Why are you even talking to me? I'm like Ultron and I can totally kick your @$$. So he's going all weird about it and......"

Why does that sound horribly familiar? :hmm

I think the fact that ULTRON upgrades himself several times is the main thing behind this human angle. Hes getting smarter as the film goes on. He was created by Tony Stark, hes self aware and knows everything in human history. Does anyone expect him to sound like an old school robot? That wasnt the point of Spader playing him. It was to make him a human like personality that can take on the Avengers both with his wit and his super powers.

Going to see AOU on Thursday. It comes out the same day as the Independence day in Israel. ^^

I love how we have a super solder, a thunder god, a man who just gets angry and happens to turn into a massive green rage monster, we have someone who can literally distort reality...and yet an A.I. that's "too human" is actually a concern for some people...

If that's really a problem or a breaking point for anyone then I don't know what to tell you other than I think you've lost sight of the bigger picture here...

What's that have to do with a bigger picture? People expected the terminator and got something else. That throw up line was pretty jarring in the preview. Seemed a little more Johnny 5.

A "chatty" T1000 sounds just awful

but from what I've seen so far of Ultron, I dig it, but I could see how it could get a little too human-y for some

I think "human-y" is just the wrong word, and I think people are interpreting in different ways. The madman philosophical rambings in the original trailers are also a very "human" characteristic, but it worked.

It has nothing to do with the quality of the character or the film. It has everything to.do with certain people being disappointed that Whedon didn't make the movie they created in their heads.

Personally I don't want to see my idea of an Avengers movie on the screen. I want to see Joss Whedon's idea of an Avengers movie. I may not be happy with all of his choices, but at least I'll be surprised. Same goes for any work of art - commercial or otherwise.

And to those who arent fans of Whedons work in general: perfectly valid, but just expect to be disappointed going in. For obvious reasons.

To be fair, Terminator's are Skynet's footsoldiers and are supposed to have limited intelligence and personality (otherwise they could learn enough by themselves to question its authority, T2 outright says that). They're pre-programmed drones with a relatively simple mision, so it makes sense they behave more like a "machine". Ultron, at least in this movie, is supposed to be its own entity and independent of anyone's programming or orders.
