Personally, I thought Whedon reigned in his lesser tendencies for The Avengers...maybe that's why the film turned out so good and maybe that's why...he does not like it all that much :D .

Granted, he did not have a ton of time to service all of his own whims and ideas.

Not to mention, his original ideas for the opening and ending got jettisoned. Which to be honest...the original opening and intros were BAD. I would not have liked it if the film opened that way.

What were the original openings and endings?

Guys, please. Help me out here. I can go see Age Of Ultron in about 24hs, but by myself. Or I have to wait like until Saturday to see it with friends. I mean, I want to see it as soon as possible, but also I like to share the experience and like, talk about it afterwards. What should I do? What would you do?

My 30th birthday is opening weekend and I have like 4 events planned. I posted the info for the tickets I bought on the event's facebook page and told my friends join me or not...cause I already got mine, haha

No idea about the ending, but the intro was Maria Hill being interviewed by the World Security Council with clips of the Battle of NY played over it

I still dont buy the complaint w/ ULTRON being too human. They dont get it. He starts out as an AI like JARVIS. Remember JARVIS in Iron Man? It was just Paul Bettany talking to RDJ basically. The same applies to James Spader as Ultron. The difference being hes even smarter than Jarvis since he becomes self aware and he puts himself inside a robotic body with humanistic features.

We're talking live action, not the comics. Joss made ULTRON much more interesting than the comic book version which was just a crazy robot that wanted to kill kill kill. That version wouldve been totally dull and cliche. Just another Terminator but in the MCU.

I'm sorry, but that's simply not true. Aside from the jokes, MCU Ultron IS 616 Ultron.
Ultron started as you said albeit briefly but he was always an AI. Since then he's developed human emotions, and continuously evolves. has become more human in his personality. He even developed the Oedipus complex.

Well Im talking about the original one from way back. Not the more modern one (I dont read comics these days). Joss was 100% right to make him more humanized and not just a killbot with no emotion.

Idk, Ultron to me was always human and angry and hurt. Even before I was born.

I always thought that was his THING. Forget the MCU, Ultron was ALWAYS different than any other AI or robot, that's the character I learned about. I get the complaints and he is a comic character.. But that's who he is and was always going to be on screen. Maybe I'm the minority but I'm assuming most readers expected such a personality and don't see much of a difference at all.
The only difference is occasional jokes.
There have been plenty of dark Ultron speeches. There's been many manic moments where he appears to be screaming hysterically, or laughing hysterically.

If Ultron didn't have the personality on screen then he's not Ultron.
This is how I see it. An AI character like that is complex and not everyone can appreciate it for legitimate reasons. All opinions are valid and subjective

Joss said in an interview he created this version of ULTRON. Thats really my point. Its not the comic book version.

C+ and "we dont need more Avengers movies?" wow thats a really negative one.

Expecting @DrewAtHitFix's #AvengersAgeOfUltron soon. Not sure where he landed, but I was very disappointed. Euphoria from 1st movie gone.

Don't need more avengers movies? Speak for yourself bud.

Yikes. "AOU puts characters first in messy action landscape" - McWeeny

kateyrichVerifizierter Account ‏@kateyrich Things in Ultron that work and totally shouldn't: Ultron, Vision, jokes about refinishing floors, a romance with a 17-year age gap.

"A Galactus sized dissapointment" - Scott Mendelson

WTF guys? Im shocked by this.

It does seem as if the novelty of the first film and the supposed burnout from all the comic book movies is starting to catch up with all these reviewers.

The problems with #AvengersAgeOfUltron (1) is there is just too much (2) sequence in the middle pulls everything to a grinding halt

(4) Spader's Ultron just did NOT work for me. Never thought he was scary. #AvengersAgeOfUltron
(5) Vision itself is wonderfully done, but origin is so confusing. read Avengers comics since I was 10, still don't get his movie origin
(6) Action in Age of Ultron is also very, very repetitive and too busy. Feels like...gulp...Iron Man II (saw on TV and was way better lit!)
What's good in #AvengersAgeOfUltron? Party scene, Thor, Hulk vs. Iron Man (worth the ticket) and the final 20 min
One other major disappointmetn with #AgeOfUltron - first movie 8/10 jokes hit. This one? Maybe 5/10. Lots of it is just flat.

Starting to think Whedon definitely wasn't the guy for this one.

Although that said, Rotten Tomatoes is very impressive so far.

Nah, i expected this kinda of reviews since the sequel was announced.

I just want to see the overall score it gets now. I get people had certain problems with it.

It does sound like this film got a bit overstuffed and some things got a bit shorted to fit all those additions in. I think the charm of the first one was how simple the story was and how much of didn't feel forced for any of the characters or action scenes. AoU seems to have lost some of what made TA loved by the critics by making everything bigger, louder, and grander.

Really sounds like the movie needed more time to breathe. No idea why they didn't at least go with a 2 hour 40 minute runtime.
