Age of Ultron The Avengers 2! The Official News and Speculation Thread - - - - - Part 51

Let's not start up the DC vs. Marvel stuff, please.

Anyone else who has only seen it once so far feel like it was all they could do just to take the movie in? I want to take part in all these discussions about the movie but I feel like I have nothing to say because I didn't even really have time to think when I saw it.

It's weird. I'm always buzzing and discussing a big movie every time I see it but this time it's like I've got nothing. I really need to see it again so I can actually think through the movie. Is it just me?

You definitely aren't alone. For myself, I felt like a sponge sitting there and soaking it all in. I will go see it again and figure out the diff between the first, second, third, etc. showing after each showing. We all process that stuff bombarding us every day differently. That's one of the many things that makes life interesting.

Personally, I would rather watch two god-like beings punch each other for 5 minutes than watch Loki getting his ass handed to him by Hulk in 3 seconds.

Thankfully the Ultron fight was satisfying.

Before some of you jump on me for making this statement, I love both Avengers films and not a DC troll.

I LOVED the Loki/Hulk and Hulk/Thor moments. That's what they were....moments. You need both in a MCU movie.

On another note, it's Mother's Day this weekend. I'm making my mom my "not so" famous Chiles Rellenos casserole and, if you like Mexican food, this recipe kicks @$$ and is also a pain in the @$$ to make (If you'd like the recipe, PM me). If you're lucky enough to have a mom and dad still with you (I'm batting .500), remember that each day is a blessing. Life is a blessing and it doesn't last forever for any of us (at least this life doesn't and there may not be another). So, here's my take on $#!t....fight the bad stuff and don't sweat the small stuff.

Best wishes to you, yours, and to us all.

Sure, I am not saying that we don't.

It's just that Loki is the main villain.. He was taken down by Hulk rather quickly. It was hilarious and fun but it didn't feel complete, in my opinion.

I would disagree with your contention that Loki was taken down. On one level, it's true, but the point of Loki is that he is a layered villain. You may be able to thrash Loki physically, but taking him out of the game??? That's a whole different ball of wax and what makes him so dangerous. You never know where he's going to reappear and you are never really are sure about his motivations. He plays a game within a game within a game....that's the essence of Loki. Physically, he's a bad ass, but not THE bad ass. From the mind game standpoint, tread very softly if you encounter Loki. Google "Loki god" and you'll see Mischief, Lies, Guile, etc. That's why Loki is such a great villain...and Hiddleston plays the role to a T. Great casting (once again) by Marvel.

EDIT: One other thing about Loki. His encounter with the Hulk was one of the very few times he seemed to let his pride get the better of him. Had he played the Hulk as he plays others, maybe he wouldn't have been "taken down" or maybe he knew that the Hulk wouldn't respond as others would and he played him in a different way? Might it have been Loki's way of getting the Hulk to walk away? A game within a game? This, IMO, is why Loki is so interesting. I don't think Loki is really a "Puny God".

Tell me how all friends here think about this Japan version poster?

Me and all of many other fans here criticized it by too focusing on Iron Man, we cant see Thor's face, Hulk is too small! , and Cap's also got backed down...

This poster is more like Iron Man 4 (with friends)
and how ridiculously bad catchphrase...Disney Japan really have no idea how to market a Marvel movie..

Here's a photo i took from my instagram account:

Since I took a 4 hour nap and generally have no business being up at this time (but am), I'll give you my input. Iron Man/Stark really kicked off MCU in a big way. Robert Downey Jr. is a really, really talented actor with off the charts on screen charisma. He's just that good. I saw him in "Chances Are" years ago and thought "This guy is going somewhere". Exactly where he went was clearly beyond me, but he oozes talent.

I am in no way trashing the other MCU actors, but I think RDJ has almost no rival as an actor in MCU when it comes to major characters. Ben Kingsley? Sure, that guy is aces. Hiddleston and Ruffalo are really, really good.

So, sure, IM is the poster boy and gets paid a ton. That's the nature of the game. How it plays in Japan? I have no idea.

My 2 yen. :cwink:

The Japanese trailer is pretty insane...like early 2000s rock ballad trailer insane.

If not for that song, I actually think this is the best trailer for the film I've seen. But...that song... :funny:

Hi, thanks very much for the reply...

I know RDJ has a star factor but given the original American poster is just so cool (with Cap & Thor too being the center), i just wonder, "why not use that one too" for Japan market?" ...

And Avengers 2 will open here on July 4th...
the trailer just has been released yesterday (Kane52630 beat me for sharing it :))..

@Snow Queen Yes, the trailer is good, the song is good too for me...except for the catchphrase that said (when it translated into English), it will mean "fight for the one you're love" line in the trailer. It makes it like a chick flick drama movie.

Anyway...here's a ticket i just bought for premier day..:)

and about the song on the trailer...
its by Wrethov (♪IN MEMORIES)

You can see at the bottom..Its said its the official soundtrack song for the movie...Do only the Japan version of the movie have it?

It's certainly not in the American version.

DOFP was decent but I will never get the hype. It doesn't annoys me that it made money, because people is free to like it as much as they want.
My problem is it got critical acclaim, when for me it was inferior in all aspects to AoU. Maybe it was due to the compulsory "historical context which adds nothing to the plot" Singer thing? It makes the movie look so deep and serious :whatever:

I think its one half good actors, one half Film Critic Hulk's "tangible details" theory. In this case, the tangible details are the historical setting, giving it the veneer of a deep historical allegory. Combine that with the legitimately good performances by a bunch of actors, and you get people praising a movie despite the rather serious flaws of plot.

Honestly, I still don't buy the "saturation" idea, or the concept that other studios making crap movies will somehow cause people to not go to good movies. If Fantastic Four or X-Men Apocalypse sucks, that's going to effect. . . Fantastic Four or X-Men sequels. Or Fox films more broadly. Its not going to have any meaningful effect on anybody else, except perhaps in that they will have less competition.

Thanks man:up:

They brought up widow's kidnapping and the fact that there's no reason behind it.

Thing is, there were reasons for Widow's kidnapping, both IC and OOC. IC, Ultron needed a replacement audience to gloat and speechify at, since the Maximoffs "betrayed" him. OOC, the writers needed a way for the Avengers to find Ultron's location. Two tasks, one action.

Loki is like Joker; both are very smart and they can plan for a catastrophe that causes massive amount of damage, but physically both can be taken down easily. Heck, I've seen Joker knocked out cold by a punch from Batman. That doesn't make either one less of a villain.

Agreed, metaphysician. In addition to Natasha being Ultron's new audience, I think he was using her as bait to lure The Avengers in. No other reason to keep her alive for so long. He even said something to the effect of what he wanted was all of The Avengers vs. all of him, and he got that via Natasha.

Long time no SEE!!

It's one way of posing them I guess. It always makes me wonder why I.M. is always the focus over there and at the center.
I like the Imax "A" poster the best so far tho.

I saw the movie yesterday.
Amazing movie 9/10 :)
Vision for President! :D
Random question: Now that The Maximoff Twins are no longer mutants (in comics) can FOX still use Quicksilver?

I wouldn't have liked the trailer if I hadn't seen the film already. But that's actually pretty badass

I did not notice this easter egg:

Don't see why not, I don't think the movies are bound by what the comics do. And Peters' QS IS in the next X-Men movie, probably older and closer to the comics version.
