:funny:

So much dialogue that didn't make the film, tho.
Which is weird considering this is a newly produced trailer (I assume?). And yet they have all this dialogue from what I'm guessing is the earlier long cut of the film.

I would disagree with your contention that Loki was taken down. On one level, it's true, but the point of Loki is that he is a layered villain. You may be able to thrash Loki physically, but taking him out of the game??? That's a whole different ball of wax and what makes him so dangerous. You never know where he's going to reappear and you are never really are sure about his motivations. He plays a game within a game within a game....that's the essence of Loki. Physically, he's a bad ass, but not THE bad ass. From the mind game standpoint, tread very softly if you encounter Loki. Google "Loki god" and you'll see Mischief, Lies, Guile, etc. That's why Loki is such a great villain...and Hiddleston plays the role to a T. Great casting (once again) by Marvel.

EDIT: One other thing about Loki. His encounter with the Hulk was one of the very few times he seemed to let his pride get the better of him. Had he played the Hulk as he plays others, maybe he wouldn't have been "taken down" or maybe he knew that the Hulk wouldn't respond as others would and he played him in a different way? Might it have been Loki's way of getting the Hulk to walk away? A game within a game? This, IMO, is why Loki is so interesting. I don't think Loki is really a "Puny God".

Loki is like Joker; both are very smart and they can plan for a catastrophe that causes massive amount of damage, but physically both can be taken down easily. Heck, I've seen Joker knocked out cold by a punch from Batman. That doesn't make either one less of a villain.

I know all about who Loki is.

I never said it was a bad moment. I said I would rather watch two people punching each other for 5 minutes rather than getting thrashed in 3 seconds, that Loki was taken down too fast for my taste. Not that the latter is a bad thing. It is a personal preference.

I was looking at it from a different (cerebral) angle rather than bam bam ouch ouch. You need both in a movie. Like the time Indiana Jones shot the sword wielding ninja or whatever he was. I was just saying that I didn't think Loki was "taken down" in a certain sense of the word and you never know what he's orchestrating. Some people say that moment diminished Loki as a villain (not that you said that). I disagree with that particular contention and think Loki has the guile and cunning that could believably make him as dangerous as anyone in MCU movies (including Thanos).

Is it me or has this place died really quickly?

Thing is you can still have the thing you liked and have it last more than 3 seconds.

I am talking about time frame here. I am not exactly saying the fight has to be physical "bam bam ouch ouch" which the Loki/Hulk moment kinda was.

Anyway, I don't think you are getting my point of view. Let's move on.

Is it me...
Nope

...or has this place died really quickly?
Yes

LOL, Sorry, I couldn't resist (breaking up your post).

This place has died. No surprise because everyone saw the film and discussed about it for the most part.

After about 5 billion pages, things burn out....

fortunately it was nice and long and lasted for more than 3 seconds.

What more is there to say really. You eventually reach a point with every movie where it just becomes a big circle jerk of endlessly arguing the same points.

This.

I guess the next flagship Marvel discussion thread is Infinity War? or Civil War?

Onward to Ant Man and then Civil War I guess.....Man, I wish they wouldn't make us wait almost a whole year.....

Hey. I just heard that IW will be shot entirely using the new IMAX camera. I haven't confirmed that, but does anyone know if that's true? If so, do you have a link? If the Russos are making that jump, I would think that they at least want to try it out at least some with CA:CW.

Anyone got the skinny?

EDIT: Here it is.....using it partially for CW it appears.....

Yeah, it feels that way to me too. Maybe because I'm used to the Bat-boards where things are crazy 24/7.

Yes, they're shooting certain scenes in CW with them, probably prepping for the IW movies. It's really awesome, although it's made possible by the fact that they're using smaller Arri digital cameras developed by IMAX, so they're capable of reaching 6K rather than the gigantic, loud IMAX film cameras that are theoretically capable of reaching up to like 15K or some ridiculous resolution. Still very cool and will be great to see in IMAX, assuming our phones aren't shooting in 18K by then. :oldrazz:

It kinda amazing how this film has kinda just come and gone and everyone's moved on. Last time there was insane amount of chatter for weeks and like you said the Bat-boards were non-stop for ages. Virtually crickets now.

Yeah....while film doesn't really have resolution in the same way digital cameras do, I think digital resolution and film definition can be approximated. Some of Nolan's cinematography using the IMAX cameras in TDK and TDKR was spectacular. I know the cameras are unwieldy, but if you use them right, it gives the cinematography a WOW factor that's just off the charts (at least if you're watching it in true IMAX).

I think this is good news, but if people are going to make 3D films, I wish they'd start shooting it in native 3D.

I think that's the problem with announcing the next entire slate of movies. I've seen almost as much talk about CW and IW as AoU.

To be quite honest, I myself have been looking forward to CW more than AoU even before AoU came out. With The Avengers, it was the end of the first chapter and nobody knew what would come next. As much as it was a beginning of the Avengers, it also had a sense of finality and closure to it.

I love AoU, but I see why people think of it as filler and are ready for the next thing already.

It's like it's all becoming routine now. There's nothing really all that special going forward anymore, even Infinity Wars isn't looking all that special. The new car smell has well and truly worn off.

Speak for yourself man.

Infinity War is going to be huge and probably super trippy if Thanos is done correctly.

Yeah, but there are ways to shake it up.

TWS, GotG, and Daredevil were all fresh and people loved it. Marvel is going to have to keep innovating and keeping it fresh while keeping the quality high. Same-y stuff like AoU is good enough to make tons of money and entertain people, but if Marvel wants to keep rising they'll have to go above and beyond.

While the novelty has worn off, there is much room for improvement still. I hope the quality is consistently and overall superior to Phase 2, just as Phase 2 was overall superior to Phase 1.

Agreed.

I have been waiting for Infinity War ever since the post-credits scene of Avengers.

I am definitely more excited for Infinity War than Civil War (Which I am still looking forward to) because....Thanos.

There's a ton of fantastic stuff to look forward to.

Civil War, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, Ragnarok, Captain Marvel, Infinity War.

Phase 3 has the potential to blow the doors off the first two phases.

Yes definitely...

But Infinity War is the ultimate prize.

Infinity War doesnt seem special?

I mean Im not saying it'll for sure be great or even good but for damn sure will be special just in term of scope alone. Come on what is that? "Doesn't look that special?" What?

That's some real debbie downer type stuff to me

It's not the first time we've heard about this so-called "fatigue" regarding Marvel's superhero movies, but Marvel has proved time and time again that they can make movies that GA want to go see in theatre. AOU may be a step or two behind the first Avengers, but it will probably outgross the previous movie WW and I don't see it as "routine".
