Great review dudeWell it's midnight on the west coast and 4/30 in pretty much the entire country. So that means USA embargo is now over and here is my review:

I keep on refreshing the village voice website to see what they say. They were supposed to have a review out this morning.

Great review!
MAKE MINE MARVEL!!!!!!!
I read the comments. Don't let the nolanites who can't stand to see a real comicbook superhero movie achieve success faze you. Keep going strong!!!
Edelstein's review is the most positive one I've read from the mainstream press. He totally got what The Avengers is about and he loved it. The fact that all of the top critics who have weighed in thus far have given it positive reviews is very encouraging. Disney's marketing department must be over the moon with the number of great blurbs they have for the critics' opinion ads they will release soon. No need to quote some obscure blog or small-town newspaper when they have TIME, the Rolling Stone and the New York Daily News to cite.
Some people may dismiss critics' reviews, but the fact of the matter is that having prestigeous critics giving positive reviews can really persuade casual moviegoers, parents, and other people who are on the fense about watching a movie to go check it out, especially for a genre movie like The Avengers. GA will think differently of The Avengers when they see accolades from Time, Variety, and Rolling Stone giving it high marks.
There are countless more things I want to say and moments I want to single out, but it is hard to do so without getting monotonous or into spoilers. It is a credit to the film that Ive already blathered about it at length, yet I feel like Ive barely scratched the surface of its pleasures. To answer my own question from before Was it worth treating these disparate franchises as prologues to a whole other film? Yes. A hundred times yes. And Im fine with them wasting the entire next round of sequels to set-up The Avengers 2 if it will be as good as this. They can even toss in some new bull****. Ant Man. Black Panther. Whatever. Bring it. Your move DC.

Well I did say they had some decent pieces they just weren't "that memorable"Great review Vile. My only issue with your review is that I disagree that the Thor and Iron Man scores weren't memorable. I can understand going with Silvestri because he's a more traditional film scorer, however his style would not have worked in the Thor and Iron Man movies.
Well I did say they had some decent pieces they just weren't "that memorable"not that they weren't "memorable at all"
. Silvestri's Avengers just sounded the most cinematic to me.
NY Magazine's David Edelstein just posted a rave review. He's one of the few critics who didn't like TDK, so take that for what it's worth. Generally his reviews are well-written and uncontroversial. He loved it:

Wow, I'm so used to Edelstein having a jaded tone, even on movies he likes. It's straight-up weird to me to read him being so...giddy about a movie. I didn't know that.
He's a visionary! I need to read all his reviews now.
The Avengers is where it starts, hopefully. This film sets the bar for all future superhero movies whether they star an individual costumed vigilante or another super team. The Avengers is not your standard superhero fare. It is, or should be, The Standard, period.
Funny, I saw this guy on Access Hollywood an hour ago and he was giving his review, pretty much the same as what's on the page and the two anchors were throwing stuff at him; they liked the movie at least the guy did.T"Challa;23095771 said:Here is a review from Access Hollywood. He ggives it a fresh rating on RT but the review seems largely negative. Weird. A few spoilers in there
