The Avengers The Avengers Critics Reviews Thread - Part 2

I wonder if Ebert is going to pull another "Thor" with this one. Granted it's only Tuesday, but I know this guy has a love hate relationship with comicbook movies.

We'll have to see if his love for Iron Man and Captain America can overcome his aversion to Thor and Loki, and if Hulk can win his :hrt:.

The funny thing about Joss is... some people will tell you he is a dramatic genius and the other people will tell you Avengers is fluff without substance.

It happened with him since Buffy.

That was the absolute best review from the Village Voice that was possible. Seriously, Im delighted by it actually. And their critique was a fair one, just not one that most people will agree with.

Its obvious he enjoyed it, but wanted more character development. Fine.

I am curious how it will be scored for RT. Right now 15/15 Top Criitics!!

Village Voice review wasn't bad IMO. I wonder whether they'll submit it to RT as FRESH or splat???

I was expecting an outright pan and/or a comparison with some mindless blockbuster. It was neither, and I think the reviewer had fun watching it.

Now that all the (re)introductions are over, I think the arcs will be more dramatic in the sequel, even if you skip the individual movies.

I just find it funny that two of the bad reviews have a 6/10 and the "the smartest critic in the world"(what a joke) gave it a c+ and somehow those are rotten. I don't mind rotten reviews, but i wish they would score them that way. Otherwise RT needs to put in a neutral section for the borderline reviews.

Ebert's review will be...................POSITIVE!!!!!!!!

He wasn't referring to the movie there, just that link. He's tweeted a couple of links mentioning the Avengers, but never letting on what he actually thought of the movie.

Looking through her previous reviews--she really doesnt like much. Rotten scores to First Class, The Help, Bridesmaids, Up in the Air, Blue Valentine, Gran Torino, etc. Very hard to please it seems!

Ah, sucks about Village Voice. They ruin the Top Critic streak for TA.

I really cant see Ebert giving TA a thumbs down. He even enjoyed IM2.

The Village Voice review was fine. She wanted more depth.

No, it wasn't. Village voice hates all mainstream movies. It doesn't surprise me she gave TA a negative review. Hopefully, we see a flurry of good reviews now.

I respect the opinions of Allmovie.com which is a lot like IMDB

Also Radiotimes.com which is a UK Film, TV, radio site

Usually they are never more than half a star out with their review of a film

So I am eager to see what they both give Avengers

Village idiots know nothing about movies, their opinion is meaningless
