Arrow The Barry Allen/The Flash Thread - Part 2

Because obviously they wanted fans who care far too much about looks to complain about that fact endlessly for the duration of the series' run. :o

Performance-wise, Gustin has shown himself to be a great Barry and it's not as if he doesn't fit the bill physically. Just because he's not blonde? Who cares... and the guy playing Thawne, if his role on TVD is any indication, makes too perfect a villain to be cast as the hero.

I'm sure they'll all be great, and I liked Gustin. It's just funny to think about. And looks aren't all I care about, I just think they're also important. :)

Ha why is it the guy playing Thawne and the girl playing Killer Frost look almost exactly like a PERFECT Barry Allen and Iris West? What the hell?

Lol wow... It's like they found the actors to match the parts just to show they could but cast them as different characters in the same show anyway.... :o

You... are... so right D:

I don't know how I didn't see it before.

Taking it a step further, Gustin as Thawne and Patton as KF would make equal sense. Sure, Frost in the comics wasn't black either, but since she ends up blue anyway, it wouldn't make so much of a big deal.

And if Jesse Eisenberg can pull off a new interpretation of Lex, Gustin could pull off a new interpretation of the Thawne/Zolomon amalgamation thingy they're trying to pull. Professor Zoom was a geeky fanboy at his core anyway before going crazy and falling to the dark side. Gustin's performance on Arrow and on that crime drama show suggests that it could be right up his alley.

Gorilla Grodd will work fine on tv. Don't animate his mouth to make him speak, have him speak through other people and telepathically. That's SO easy on a tv budget. They only problem was making his mouth move.

Also, I think the audience will be able to accept Grodd. They've accepted crazier things before. It'd be a good idea to ease the audience into the crazier aspects though. Start off with tech based villains like Cold and Mirror Master, then ease into Grodd maybe in season 2.

Planet of the Apes DOES prove that audiences can accept talking apes like Grodd. Anyone who disagrees with that is simply ignoring logic.

Grodd would totally work on tv, and i think audiences will be able to accept it. Gustin's portrayal of Barry is pretty lighthearted, I think his portrayal paired with an outlandish concept like Grodd will go very well together.

These are comic book adaptations after all, and this is 2014, people embrace the crazier aspects of comic books more now than they ever have before.

Posters like sebandres aggravate me..people like that always underestimate the general audience. The general audience will accept basically anything just so long as it's good. Grodd is a good character, there's a reason why comic fans like him, and a reason why he's been around for so long. The general audience can accept a LOT. this is a comic book adaptation, they know that. Just so long as Grodd is handled seriously, the character will be fine and people will love him just like comic fans have for decades.

Planet of the Apes proved that if you do what planet of the apes did, that people will embrace talking apes. It does not prove that people will always embrace talking apes from now on whenever they appear no matter what. CW Flash can't do what Planet of the Apes did, the scope of the story is much broader, and the budget is much smaller, so the question is will audiences still buy it, if it's under a long list of weirdness and looks cheaper?

Watch out for the twist of the century that will make the Mandarin twist just a ******ed joke, Rick Cosnett is the real........................... Barry Allen!!!!!!

:oldrazz:

;)

Ugh....I've had to stay out of this thread while all the casting info came in,for the sake of my blood pressure,if nothing else.

You disapprove, Human Torch?

Well that settles it, then.... this is the best cast I've ever seen. :ninja::up:

I trust the castings. In general Arrow has been really really well cast for 90% or so of it and I really enjoyed Barry Allen when I didn't think I would.

Is he definitely gonna be full costumed in this? Just doesn't seem to have been much mentioned about it.

Geoff Johns has said that the he will be seen as The Flash -- complete with his trademark red costume and not a poor imitation. No sweat suits or strange code names; he will be The Flash.

That teasing bastard...

Though, on the bright side, if he was being serious and he was indeed wearing the costume, that would eliminate the likelihood of ^that costume being a possibility.

Good one Grant... I guess?

Anyway, I just had a thought. Remember in the show when he was questioning why Arrow's costume was green and how "black would be better for night and urban camouflage"? Then he reasoned that Ollie's color choice was inspired by his origin event.

I wonder how he'll settle on red and yellow given his origin. I know lightning could = yellow, but what about red? Or will he have the black Flash suit? For night/urban camouflage? :P

Since he is a superhero/comic book nerd, he'll probably put on a costume first thing because...well, it looks cool :oldrazz:.

No one's going to show us anything until there's an official release, like there was with the Arrow costume.

Wow awesome. That pictures shows that were getting a comics accurate cowl!

Ha ha, Grant.... but if this is true, it means he may have his comic style cowl with the scallops that go over his cheeks while leaving his nose exposed...if that's so, color me excited!! :D

I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but I'm thinking that the costume and Barry as Flash may be the best thing about this show! :)

I wonder if this is an official photo but he just zoomed ( ;) ) in ultra close to get this pic...be funny if true...

I think Gustin is blonde enough, truthfully. In some images I've seen of him he's more blonde than brown....but either way I'm very excited. Haven't seen any of TVD, is it any good? May be time to do a YouTube search of some stuff this guy's been in...

He better not. That's just the sort of bs thing I could see someone trying to do - which it doesn't matter what he's wearing, he's too fast to be seen to begin with, his name is "The Flash" for cripes sakes...lol.

I'm just jazzed we're getting a live action Flash something and this year...we don't have to wait til 2016 or 2019 or some bullcrap...this makes me very happy. :D
